Hotel room

I stayed there during a visit to McGill University in early November of 2024. The front desk people were quite friendly, the room was nice, clean, and big enough for me, and the bed was quite good. It was quiet. I slept well during the two nights I stayed there. I had the buffet breakfast there---it was really good, with a lot of options. And the location is very nice---I had long walks in the evening around the hotel. Overall, a pretty good stay and will stay there again.

Great location. It is within walking distance of all the best shops, McGill, the McCord Museum and a half hour from the Latin quarter. Overall, the hotel was clean, safe and comfortable. We had two twin beds and a pull out couch in a separate area. The room had a mini refrigerator and little kitchenette area. We didn't try the bar or restaurant in the hotel, but I see other reviews are positive. Across the street is a cafe where we ate cheap croissants and coffees in the morning. The pool was nice and relaxing. They did not have towels at the pool so bring your own or bring up towels. There were always long lines at check in. Staff were polite but very busy. Price was very affordable. But nothing remarkable to push it to five stars.

Nice, big, clean, and modern room in the middle of Montreal. We enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast is really good as well.

The executive suite is nice, spacious, not quite as clean, details left out such as carpet cleaning, which gives a " motel " feel... The space and view are ideal to the city at night. Front desk and concierge crew Alianna, Seema, & Levan were quite courteous -- Luc however wasn't at all: discourteous, disrespectful, stiff, & unapologetically dismissive (I'd never hire him to represent my company, nor want him to service my accommodation needs ever again). The neighborhood is excellent.

Booked a room for my solo birthday trip before things get too hectic back home and I forget about myself. I loved my experience here from the moment I checked in to the second I left. The grounds are beautiful and are a mix of elegant to clean modern feels. The water pressure was AMAZING !!!! I didnt even realize till the second day there was a terrace. While I did not get a chance at the pool, I did try out the food and the bar. The hotel staff were all super friendly and helpful. Everything was exceptional!!!! The hotel itself is close to everything! It's blocks from mont Royal park, the museums and amidst amazing food (low or high priced). I was there four days, and spent one exploring Old Montreal and China town. I walked the whole day, but there are a lot of metro stations if you're tired.

Stands out as a cheaper option in Montreal and the location is really good. On a road similar to NYCs 5th avenue with exclusive shops, museums and such. You are close to the metro and just down the road from the mountain (which is a good landmark for when you get lost). The suite is quite spacious and the bed is the best I had in a long time. The room carpet needs a good clean. The shower has good heat and pressure. Front desk service can be hit or miss depending on who you speak to. Had some issues with the heating that maintenance men had to come and fix. The maid was friendly letting me help myself to what I needed from her cart. The breakfast is quite expensive. Microwave and fridge in your room.

June 2011. It's not a closet. It's a kitchenette.

I stayed here during the weekend in April and June. The Good: +The suites are clean and in a good area, close to nightlife. +The beds are very comfortable. +Price is right and Drew Carey agrees. If you performed a Kayak/expedia/orbitz/hotels dot com comparison search this hotel will show up with very good rates. +Kitchenettes are odd looking but having a fridge and microwave is convenient. +The pool on the top is nice (you insert a key and pull the left door forward) with a lot of lounge chairs to enjoy the weather. The Bad: -Not all suites (2 queen bed) are equal. Television units are different in rooms: some have flat screens and some have the outdated tvs. -The hotel still uses physical keys. This is odd since most hotels use card keys. -Parking is 24 CAN/night. If you want to save money, there is a public lot behind the Omni (close by) and cheaper (16). You don't have in/out privileges though. Parking tickets are 52 CAN, so be warned. -The gym is small and misclassified. I think of the luxury condos in Brooklyn that claim a "gym" as a star amenity luring buyers. The chest press machine pin was broken. The Ugly: --It took me a while to figure out how to open the door to the pool. Picture a monkey pulling a door for 10 minutes, while the people on the other side watching. Put up a sign, please. Other things to know: Guests are asked to sign a "no party" waiver and there are mandatory quiet hours after 10pm. There is a strict checkout policy at noon. If you're visiting Montreal I would suggest Hotel Le Cantlie Suites. This is not a high end luxury hotel but it's comfortable and affordable but doesn't give you the motel feeling. IFHTP 2

After endlessly searching for a decent hotel for a last minute trip to Montreal we settled on Cantlie, mainly based on the deal they were running on Travel Zoo (3 nights for $280). The thing that made the search a nightmare was the sub-par reviews on this, and comparable, hotels. Well thank god for Yelp because I intend to author a comprehensive review... Location - On Sherbrooke, downtown, with what seemed like all the other hotels. Great because I would have been peeved if I shelled out $400 for the Sofitel, it's literally across the street. Cantlie is a few blocks down from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, a short walk away from restaurants, shopping, etc. Room - Everything I want in a hotel room - spacious, super comfy bed, TV, closet space, bathroom - and a few extras too! (fridge, microwave, couch, desk). Everything is clean and spotless. The bathroom was small but uses space very effectively. The shower is pretty hardcore (water pressure and temperature, yikes) but I got used to it. Amazing view with our windows facing out from the back of the hotel. Parking - Private garage entrance in the rear alley. Easy in and out access. They bill your room the cost, roughly $18 (+tax) for 24 hours. Very cordial attendant! Internet - Wifi for around $5 (+tax) per day. The front desk provides an authorization code and the charge is billed to your room. I'm actually writing this review from it right now, fast speed! Lobby/Facilities - Clean, well kept, spacious. The three elevators are constantly in use and are a bit of clusterfuck sometimes because they only hold 4/5 people at a time. Decor is a little dated but I expected much worse. It appears that all efforts to modernize have been taken. Pool - Roof deck pool with an amazing view! Lounge chairs circle the pool for sun bathing if you don't want to swim. Fitness Room - One treadmill, two bikes, a few multi-purpose weight benches, and a stretching room. Fitness area also has a cold water filtration dispenser and a TV. It gets a little stuffy when you're working out but there is an AC going. Buffet Breakfast - Decent. Buffet standards: eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, cereal, yogurt., fruit, bagels, toast. Way too pricey if you were paying but we had free meal vouchers for each morning of our stay. Service was spotty, seemed like the staff were running around with their heads cut off. Adequate. I think that's it. I would highly recommend this hotel and return any time!

Checking in was very easy and they even said they were expecting me, which was very refreshing after the last hotel I stayed in for business, which was the Hilton in Richmond, VA at Short Pump in which the staff was very condescending and poor at checking people in, especially business travelers. This place definitely took great care at check in to make sure I felt welcomed, including asking me if I had any questions. She went over everything I needed to know about the property. When I got to the room I was impressed with the size of it - it was pretty large, with lots of open space, a decent desk, plenty of seating, and a very nice, clean, and comfortable bed which was fitted with ironed sheets! The TV in the room was disproportionately small and their streaming channel options were limited, but I made the best of it, as it's mostly background noise while I'm working anyway. The location is decent, only a couple of blocks from the Rue Sainte-Catherine shopping and dining area, which also has the Complexe Desjardins (a mall). There's a Metro station a block away as well. They have a decent size gym with all the normal stuff and a pretty nice, two-level lounge for those with access via their loyalty level. Overall, I'm enjoying the stay here and would return!

One standout was the gym, which is much better than what you typically find in hotels, with multiple treadmills, a stair stepper, ellipticals, and a solid selection of weights. They also have a two lane indoor pool and an indoor hot tub, which were nice added amenities. I especially appreciated that my room had a patio, it was great being able to get some fresh air. The only downside was the noise. There were very loud neighbours in the hallway with screaming and music playing until around 11:30 pm. I contacted the front desk and was told security would be sent up, but no one came and the noise continued past midnight. Overall, a solid hotel with great amenities, but the lack of follow through on the noise issue was disappointing.

I booked through hotels.com a 1 night stay on 1/2/24. So horrific: 1. The pictures are clean. The reality is a s-hole dump. Beer bottles and trash lined the walkway to the door. The entire building smelled of smoke. 2. Front desk staff barely communicative. 3. Room was FAR smaller than advertised and was also dirty. The room to which I was assigned looked like NOTHING IN ANY OF THE PHOTOS. 4. Public shared restroom: i did not even go in since everything else smelled like piss, cigarettes and beer, I figured the bathrooms were also disgusting. 5. Parking is off site; no bell hop or other staff to carry bags up two flights of stairs (no lift). The only plus is that I got a few dollars of one key rewards for walking in and out of a horriffic, unsanitary, smoky boarding home- far far below any consideration of the name "hotel." It's not even hostel level. This is an unhealthy, and borderline dangerous place to stay. It is destined to close down, fail, and die. You may too if you stay there. DO NOT BOOK THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. My friend and I walked away in silence and immediately looked at each other like, "Was that real?" It was just an oddly unpleasant interaction that set the tone. On the positive side, the rooms are big and clean. Every housekeeper we passed in the hall was incredibly warm and friendly. A couple things to note: 1) no valet, and 2) in our room, the shower feels like it's in the middle of the space and lacks basic privacy. Totally fine if you're with a best friend or partner, but I would've been mortified if I were sharing the room with anyone else. Not sure if it's just this layout or if all the rooms are like that. But I'm not sure I actually like the style. They lean super hard into their theme. Pink is everywhere, there's a strong signature scent pumped through the lobby, and the whole place feels like it was designed for a photo shoot more than a comfortable stay. It's nice, but just a bit too much across the board. It's definitely a sexy hotel, great for bringing a spouse or significant other. But you'll want to be at a stage in your relationship where you're comfortable using the bathroom with the other person in the room - because there's almost no privacy. Glass walls and open layouts look cool, but they don't leave much to the imagination. If you love bold, highly styled spaces and don't mind a little flash over function, this could be perfect. I'll pass on returning but I won't say it isn't beautiful.
