My brother who has had several strokes and bladder cancer twice can barely walk with a walker and his wife who is recovering from cancer surgery both showed up yesterday not knowing appointment was cancelled. After checking in they were made to sit for an hour before staff informed them that the doctor wasn't even there. You seriously think they didn't know Dr. wasn't there? It only dawned on them after an hour that not only had they cancelled with less than 24 hours notice one day prior but the doctor wasn't even in the building? Instead of apologizing for cancelling and squeezing my brother in as soon as possible they put him back at the end of the line for another four month wait. What a sorry, impotent staff and what a sorry, impotent doctor for allowing his staff to treat his sick patients this way.

At 1:10 I was brought to the back; much to my surprise, the back area was very dark including the examination room; only a few lights by the nurse station were on. Very dark, I had never been in a doctor's office so dark. In the examination room, the technician did the eye exam and put dilating drops in my eyes. She then left. At around 1:40, I Heard Dr. Sowell introduced herself to a patient in a room adjacent to mine which made me realize that it would take several more minutes to come see me. I had to pick up my grandson from school and realizing I'd be late if I would wait to see the doctor, I left. At around 2:10 I received a call from the technician asking me where I was which led me to believe that it wasn't until then that they went into the room where I was and find out I wasn't anymore. I explained the situation to her and she said that the doctor had a patient ahead of me and I had to wait for the drops to take effect, a fact I was not told, but she did tell me that I should've been told by the front people or I should've known. Not pleased with my first and last experience with Dr. Sowell.

First impression of Dr. Callerame was good, he listened to all of my concerns and treated my issues. My second appointment is when the issue came to play. I came back for a 3 month follow up and was 7 minutes past my appointment. The Doctor had already left for the day is what his nurse said to me after I had checked and and sat in the waiting room, waiting for 10 minutes. They told me I would need to reschedule my appointment. I tried to reschedule my appointment with him for another close appt. Thi was an appointment to discuss if my medication that was prescribed to me, by him was working for my debilitating migraines. The medication had not been working, so I informed the nurse of this. She was very rude and told me that all she could do is schedule me out 3 more months. Keep in mind they have a 15 minute grace period for appointments, and I was only 7 mins late. I work for Our Lady of The Lake, and is in the process of trying to find another neurologist.

Only problem today was that I was never told to remain NPO for my procedure. I finally asked someone who called last week to confirm appointment and she told me I could eat. This resulted in my receiving injections in my neck without general sedation. It wasn't great. I would've appreciated someone telling me I needed to be NPO and if you don't know if I can eat, find out to give me an honest answer. Anyway Dr Patel is very nice and is working to squeeze me in for an earlier appointment for another needed procedure due to my leaving the state for work shortly. I appreciate everyone's concern and I feel like they are really trying to heal.

On the way to the office on the day of my appointment, their office called me again to reschedule. Since I was already two minutes out, I arrived anyway to make the appointment. They did get me in to see another doctor, but this person was not familiar with my medical history and failed to give me a thorough exam. I was told to come back in a few weeks for a follow-up MRI. In the weeks before the MRI, I received a letter in the mail stating that the MRI would need to be rescheduled. On the day before the (now rescheduled) MRI, their office called me stating that there was a major portion of my bill that wouldn't be covered by my insurance, and they refused to work out a payment plan that didn't involve at least a 50% payment; this was an obvious attempt to blackmail me into paying immediately, since they undoubtedly had this information in advance and waited until the last minute to inform me. I told them to cancel all my appointments as I wouldn't be dealing with them further. After three (3) appointment reschedules during what was a month and a half, I booked an appointment to see a neurologist at the Baton Rouge Clinic. I only had to wait 4 days to see a doctor who could spend the time to exam me thoroughly and do all the lab work I needed that same day. Having worked in the medical profession myself, I realize that it's a difficult and stressful life; that however does not compensate for unprofessionalism and incompetence. If you care about your health and finances, I recommend the Baton Rouge Clinic instead.

Absolutely disgusted with the post-op "care" I received after spinal surgery at their O'Neal Lane…read morefacility. I had to call and remind the nurses that it was time for my pain medication every 4 hours, because no one was checking. Even after reminding them I still waited 45 minutes sometimes just to get my medicine. I had to get out of the bed after having surgery 9 hours prior, dragging my iv cart to the nurses station during the night because I had been waiting 50 minutes for someone to come refill my water. All of the girls were sitting at the station playing on their phones, once the girl I previously asked for water from saw me she said my bad, I forgot... I had to drag my IV cart to the nurses station for a second time the same night because my IV cart kept beeping ridiculously loud, I pressed the call button on my bed once to let them know, I pressed it again 10 minutes later to ask if anyone was coming and after 15 minutes I went to the station. APPARENTLY the girl who stopped the beeping just shut the entire machine off, and sent me back to my room. I wasn't receiving fluids for almost 7 hours. I told my morning nurse that my IV was hurting badly in my hand and she started checking everything and asked why my IV cart was powered off, so I told her that the girl at the nurses station did that and she didn't even look surprised. Unrelated to surgery, Ochsner owes me a refund from a visit in 2022 because a claim was incorrect. I had the claim revised by my insurance after I paid the claim in full and Ochsner making me run in circles to provide them with information that they already have to "prove" something. Not exactly sure what. ALSO, SHIRLEY J. (she refused to give me her last name because she knew she was wrong) was the RUDE customer service rep I had the displeasure of speaking to on 5/15/23 regarding the claim issue above. She did everything except help me, she yelled at me several times, acted like she couldn't see notes that I knew were in my file concerning this, and once the conversation was over and I was asking for her credentials her attitude went from menopausal old woman to innocent and apologetic. she needs to be fired unless this is how Ochsner likes their company represented. I owe Ochsner over $900 after surgery and would pay it in full right now if they didn't owe me money, until then i will drag this out paying minimum. Once this is taken care of, this company will never see another penny from me or my family. I have also pasted this same review on any platform that I found.
