First, the setting. What a delightful interior once you get past the rather understated exterior. Comfortable spaces, open, airy, not loud but full of sounds of people enjoying themselves. Second, the service. They are on it, immediately. But you never feel rushed. Instead, you feel welcome and valued. Third, the food. I the relish tray--once a mainstay of Montana steakhouses. But this one has hot, creamy cheese dip. And beets! (Well it is eastern Montana). The steaks? Just one of the top 3 New York strips that I have ever savored. PERFECTLY cooked and so so tender. Unbelievably good. Also loved you can have hashbrowns as a side. And my friend loved the rolls plus the halibut. Drinks? Certainly. A decent wine list. Lots of local brews. And well balanced cocktails. Quality is top notch, the quantity is there. The prices are fair, considering everything. What a place!!

The first night I had the fried deviled eggs (excellent) and the Herb Charbroiled Chicken equally as excellent minus the green beans. They were pretty much raw. That was the only hiccup. The service that night was amazing. The second night it was a bit of an issue that I wanted a table vs sitting at the bar as a single person. The wait staff was in a horrible mood. Thankfully the food was much better than the attitudes. That chop salad was in top three best salads I've ever eaten. (I grabbed one to go the following day.) The burger was fine. The mashed potatoes were not good and honestly tasted like instant potatoes and not good ones. Over all it is a bit pricey but you are paying for a quality of food. Only problem it was dry as a bone. Needed some butter or something on the bread to help it all slide down the pipes. They make it easy to pay on the way out even if you have separate checks! We had 2 young men waiting on our table and they seemed pretty inexperienced. Overall, the best place in town for a quick breakfast.

I'd go again though, only because there was no other choices! If you are in Fort Benton and it's hot, you'll appreciate the Freeze, even with the cost.
