I'm not entirely sure how it is that I have never reviewed the original Gideon's as I've been going…read morehere for years? Either way, visiting this location really is the hack that you think it is. Since it is in the East End Market, you can simply waltz in with little to no line and order your delicious Gideon's treats. It is important to note that unfortunately they don't offer the cold brew here, however, as they don't have the facilities to make it like they do at Disney Springs. But, the cookies are just as delicious and they do always sell their limited edition cookies here in addition to their classics. It is also worth shopping around the market as well since there are many indulgences here ranging from sushi to cocktails to fun trinkets. It is best to visit at an off time though as parking can be a challenge.

I didn't realize that before ordering, so that definitely explains part of why this wasn't for me. Red velvet is usually my birthday cake, so I've tried it from quite a few places over the years. I personally prefer a softer, fluffy cake with a noticeable cocoa flavor and a tangy cream cheese frosting. Gideon's version was very different from that. The color was much more intensely red than I personally like, and I felt like I could taste the coloring. The texture of my slice also felt more wet/dense than moist and fluffy. There was plenty of frosting, but the cream cheese flavor was much more subtle than I prefer. I know this cake has a lot of fans, so I think this really comes down to style and personal preference. If you prefer a more traditional cocoa-forward red velvet with tangy cream cheese frosting, just know that this one is quite different. Stephanie is such a talented pastry chef and all the desserts are stunning. They specialize in macarons, choux cream puffs, and eclairs in a large variety of flavors. They also serve lunch/sandwiches along with gelato & sorbet, coffee, tea, and wine. My favorite way to enjoy Choulala is grabbing a table right on the avenue with a bottle of bubbly and bunch of treats to snack on... true Paris vibes! I got an assortment of macarons and cream puffs during my last visit: Macarons: Toasted marshmallow, pistachio, coconut, and blueberry cheesecake Choux: Coffee crunch, passionfruit, bananas foster, and biscoff Every single one was delish!

The display of food and desserts are colorful and well displayed. I bought a flat chocolate crossisant and a tiramisu dessert. The items were very pleasing to the eye and had great flavor. For the crossisant since it is flat you can trick yourself that you are eating less calories but I did cut it in half and enjoyed it with some tea. The crossisant was fresh and the dark chocolate was a good quality. The tiramisu was creamy and had just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely return to try more pastries, gelato and their coffee.

It's a thoughtful touch if you need to get some work done without disrupting everyone else trying to enjoy their coffee. The service has been quick every time I've stopped in, and the girls working there have always been genuinely friendly. One thing Lucky Goat does really well is their seasonal drinks. Right now they have a Snowflake Crunch Cold Brew that's absolutely delicious. It's one of those drinks you'll be disappointed to see disappear when the season changes. Is it the best cup of coffee I've ever had? No. But it's consistently good, it's a little cheaper than Starbucks, and I honestly think it tastes better too. When I'm in the area and need a caffeine fix, it's an easy choice. Definitely worth checking out.

*INITIAL REVIEW*…read more When it comes to The Lucky Goat Coffee (which I will shorthand simply to Lucky Goat for the remainder of this review), I will express some honesty, as in I never heard about this coffee shop which happens to be very popular in Metro Orlando. You'd think Lucky Goat will be a dime a dozen, but let me tell you these new breed of coffee shops are suprising me, incorporating their own character that makes them standout on their own, while paying honest respect to the coffee house classics. I am happy to review that Lucky Goat is another coffee shop that honors the aforementioned. It also helps they are one of the businesses/restaurants partaking in Too Good to Go. Though an address is provided, the Lucky Goat happens to be in this new strip mall that has other unique businesses that I suggest you all check out, too (Fatburger, Pop Up Bagels, Cava, etc.). Upon enterining Lucky Goat, you'll find their theme seems to be modern rural, a theme that happens to be popular with breakfast and brunch joints as well. This of long slabs of wood polished and protected to be used as tables, the greenery background often used for photography moments, and modern furniture highlighted by snipets of farm life. That's the Lucky Goat. However, the real treat here is the food, price of food, and service. Their coffee selections are a dime a dozen when it comes to the basics. Everyone from Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts to Dutch Bros. and 7 Brew serve a version of an expresso. It is their signature drinks that snap. Definitely liked their "Christmas in July" special, their snowflake iced coffee. Fantastic. Pair it with their unique baked goods such as their savory scones that have bacon, jalepenos, and cheese on them, and you'll have a unique breakfast experience that differs from others. And they still know how to make a good Flat White and London Fog if you ask, too. Finally, I want to stress the Lucky Goat is one of the restaurants part of the Too Good to Go app. If you are every lucky, you can get a bag of their baked goods for $4. One time, I got a couple of their delicious cupcakes and a sugar cookie. Another time, I had a bunch of their dessert bars. And at that price, it is a steal. Just take note the pickup is between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., in which the latter part of that time is just 30 minutes before they close. Ultimately, I am going to give Lucky Goat a well-deserved rating of four-out-of-five stars. They are so close to getting their fifth star for consistency, but I just need to try a couple of other things they have, just to make sure. Still, just by the two visits I had there, you can't go wrong enjoying a simple cup of coffee or whining and dining at the Lucky Goat.

First Visit to Gideon's Bakehouse…read more My first time experiencing Gideon's Bakehouse was definitely more than just stopping by for a cookie--it felt like walking into a whole different world- for real!. From the moment I approached the entrance, the dark, gothic atmosphere, vintage artwork, old books, and unique decor immediately caught my attention. This is not a traditional sit-down bakery or café, so I went in knowing the experience is more about getting the famous cookies and taking in the atmosphere, appearance and taste of the infamous cookies. There can be a little bit of a wait outside, especially when it's busy, but honestly, I found the experience to be part of the fun. Inside, everything is incredibly detailed--from the creepy-but-cool portraits and antique-style displays to the shelves filled with Gideon's memorabilia. Even the signs and artwork have their own personality. It feels almost like stepping into a haunted library with a bakery hidden inside- move over Disney's Haunted House. Ok back to the real item, of course, there are the cookies. For my first visit, I'd say the wait and the hassle were worth experiencing at least once. Gideon's is definitely more than just a place to grab a cookie--it's an experience, and the atmosphere makes it memorable. I can definitely see why people make a stop at Gideon's part of their visit. So yes go ahead make it a family stop, kids will definitely love them too!

I am rounding down my experience rather than up. They can't print a receipt so I am frankly not…read moresure what either item cost, but the gross amount including tax was $19.17 for one cookie and one slice of cake. They did not include any plasticware or napkins, so I expect they think I was just going to inhale the food like Nintendo's Kirby monster and not need to wipe any chocolate residue off along the way. I would like to meet the complete idjit that designed this process of melty chocolate in Florida's summer heat to understand the complete contempt they had for their customers that waited 10+ minutes in line so much so that they can't include plasticware to eat cake with and a napkin to wipe off the melty chocolate. Must be the same guy that made the DMV how it is. The theming is cool inside, that is the best aspect of this place. The vibes are immaculate. This is a place a proper sickly Victorian-era child ghost could haunt. You just can't say that about many spots in Orlando. The banana bread cookie I was most excited about was doughy, overly salted to an extreme, and had way too many walnuts. The girl at the register warned me it had walnuts and we discussed how walnutty this thang was. They really should call this the walnut cookie. The walnut is basically the whole gat dang cookie, you can't taste banana nor bread. Calling it a banana bread cookie is just misleading. The thai banana cookie from Summer House around the corner in Springs is not all it is cracked up to be either, but that one certainly is not 99% walnut by weight like this one. The cookies and cream Oreo slice was far better, which was mildly concerning that a cookie shoppe traditionally known for their "viral" cookies had failed so bad at cookies it was actually their CAKE that was the thing worth writing home about my experience. It is such a viral spot everyone is coming here for the experience to see a spot that a proper sickly Victorian-era child ghost could haunt. But smart customers get the cake, not the cookies. When you get the cake slice, verify that you have plastic cutlery and napkin before leaving the store, otherwise you are going to need to Kirby-inhale it. I think that is Nintendo, so that is Universal IP not Disney, but you get the picture. Who is the Kirby of Disney? Drax with his cake-toast?
