I ordered their Xin Chao Morning Coffee, which was said to be stronger in flavor and caffeine compared to the Xin Chao Afternoon Coffee. I also ordered their fried pork spring rolls. Both the drink and the food were served in a timely manner and were worth the price! The staff were really kind as well. The café itself is not super spacious, but there is seating both upstairs and downstairs. The seating upstairs was more spread out compared to the seating downstairs, so it was naturally louder downstairs. There is free Wi-Fi as well as a self-serve station to get free water. While the chairs upstairs are comfortable to sit on, I found it difficult to do work (i.e. using my computer on the table) as the chairs themselves are leaned too far back and are unadjustable. I would recommend driving here versus public transport, as it was quite a walk from Rundle station (should you take the train). Overall a great café with good drinks and food, perfect for having a good conversation in! But I probably would not come here to study or do work, in my opinion.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find a Vietnamese coffee shop out here in Calgary. We ordered two drinks to go - iced morning coffee and coconut coffee. The difference between the morning and afternoon coffee is the coffee roast that is used to make the drink. It is an iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. I have not seen this option of stronger coffee in Vancouver, but I think it is great that they have the option. I took a sip and it tasted exactly what I expected with a bold coffee kick and sweet condensed milk. I also enjoyed the coconut coffee. It was sweet and slushy with a good coconut flavour. This was way better than the Timmy's ice cap I had a few days earlier. Service was fast. We did not get to enjoy the ambiance as we had a list of activities we were trying to do for the day. Definitely, this place is worth a revisit when we are back in town again.

But our hunger got the best of us, so we ended up stopping in town for lunch across the street from Element Cafe. Our next mission was to get caffeine and a little something sweet to finish off lunch. Element Cafe achieved both of these goals. I ordered an Americano and it did the trick. But I really enjoyed the Birthday Cake cookie. The cookies caught my eye because they looked a lot like the mountains we were about to see in Banff: they had many ridges and depth to them. The guy working in here even offered to heat them up for us before I could ask, so he really understood the keys to our heart. My only piece of feedback would be: when you heat the cookies up, don't be shy! Push that dough to the limit and let your cookies be enjoyed the way God intended: like they just came out of the oven. With that being said, the guy was the picture of a nice Canadian. Don't let his slightly under heating on this day shape how you view him as a fellow human. He was great, as were his cookies and his coffees.

When my bf and I went we were not overly hungry so we decided to get an entree and share and I am so glad that we did since the portions here were enormous. The service was also great and the ambiance inside was cute and bubbly with tons of bright colors! We decided to get the lunch special of the Duck confit monte cristo which is French toast stacked with bacon, duck, a fried egg and arugula and paired with cheese and maple syrup. I requested the cheese on the side since I am lactose intollerant but my bf is not. Everything about this dish was fresh, packed with flavor and perfectly sweet and savory. My favorite part was the fluffy French toast and the rich duck pieces. Slathering everything in Canadian maple syrup was the right move and the maple syrup elevated the entire dish even more! While the dish was incredible, the drinks sadly fell short as we decided to get the matcha latte and the oat milk masala chai. Out of the two the masala chai definitely had more spice and flavor but both were mild for my liking and a tad watery.
