The kid area is HUGE, with plenty of computers, an abundance of books, and some fun study areas that kids gravitate to for their reading or just for quiet playtime. Most recently, it was decorated with a space/astronaut theme, and it was really cool to see as an adult...I'm sure it was even better as a kid! The library has several private study rooms, and two floors of reference and reading materials, as well as all of the online/distance services that a library could offer. Strong work, Yuma - this is a great public library!

It's located right off the main strip and surrounded by trees providing much needed shade from the Yuma sun. Although in stature compared to others I was pleasantly surprised by the modernization inside. It offers all the amenities of a library such as free online services, in-person classes and the like. Of course the AC, library quietness and the use of natural light through the windows shouldn't be taken for granted. I might consider taking the kids (myself included) here on the weekends. In short it's worth the consideration!

I used to enjoy taking my son to the baby time events (it was pre covid though so I'm unsure what all they offer now.) The staff are pleasant & offer you a little scavenger hunt to complete to make the visit more enjoyable. They had a lot of interesting plaques, photos, & items of interest. They also had a nice array of photo props inside the main jail & scattered around the grounds. Additionally, the historical research was very informative of the demographic, climate, and age in which the jail was operational & for some time afterwards. For more insight, I recommend picking up a copy of "Within Adobe Walls" by Pete "Smokey" Dryer in the gift shop on your way out.

Great place to visit and learn about how it became and who are the prisoners and their history (which similar to current ones). How it opened and closed and how it developed through that small period. What you see now is just a portion of the original but you got the picture of how the life in prison back then. Definitely quite a place to visit plus this prison would considered the 2nd island prison in the US.
