I was having engine trouble and took my car into to Yukon Tire Mechanical. They advised that there were some engine leaks and to replace the spark plugs, the dip stick and the engine cap. I agreed and they did that work. For about three months I experienced different engine trouble, especially at high speed and going up hills. I didn't think it was related to the spark plugs, but I took it to another mechanic and he said that the cause was a cracked spark plug. I was surprised as a spark plug should last for at least 50,000 kms. So I got all the spark plugs replaced (again) and had a coil replaced. Since then the engine has been running well. I went back to Yukon Tire Mechanical and showed them the cracked spark plug and told them what happened. I ended up speaking with the owner. He said he would reimburse the cost of the spark plug. While he finally agreed to pay me a little more than half of the money for the replacement work, during the conversation he threatened to go to court and was very argumentative. At no point did he apologize. While I appreciate the partial refund, the quality of the original service was very poor and the owner was condescending and rude. I will not return to Yukon Tire Mechanical. read more

It's a bit like going back in time at this place but they've worked on my car and I've found them friendly, competent and economical. I drive a Toyota and they did some work for me a while back. I'd received a quote of $1,600 from MicMac Toyota and Yukon Tire Mechanical did the exact same work for just over $900. read more

First time writing a review about any place but I feel people should be warned about this place. Wish I'd read the other review before coming here. My girlfriend and I were taking a road trip from Yellowknife when we took our car to Canadian Tire to sort a Check Engine light which had come on. Straight after coming out we broke down and were told our transmission had gone (Canadian Tire quoted $8500 for repair!) Not knowing much about engines I went to this place which was close for a second opinion. The owner said I was right not to trust CT and that he could get it towed and have a look. After looking at our car he said it was possibly just a solenoid that needed checking. The next day after calling back (at no point did they call us first to tell us what was happening) the woman on the desk said, "No, it is your transmission gone". Knowing we were in a desperate situation and not able to afford the $4500 repair they said we could pay the $200 bill or they would take our car for us. We took our car to a third place where we were finally helped for just under $2000! We then found out there was no way they could have checked a solenoid, nothing had been touched. The owner and woman on front desk had clearly been stringing us along, lying and taking advantage of our situation. After our experience with Canadian Tire, I was hoping someone would help us out but this guy just heaped more misery on us, taking our money and wasting 2 more days. I unfortunately had this shop lie to me many times. I do not recommend anybody else go through the same experience as me. They are greedy for money and will tell you anything to get as much as I can out of you. They told me that my fuel pump had gone which was not the case and they told me that it was leaking they never did anything to it when they told me they replaced the fuel pump and the lines. when they gave it back to me it had the exact same problem that it always had I'd be driving it down the highway and it would randomly die. They blamed me for putting in an aftermarket stereo. And it ended up being the first man start which is a common issue with these Ford's. this is definitely something the shop should have been able to find out or known themselves.but they did thanks x same thing to me they tried to withhold my vehicle charge me for to tow bills and refused to take my vehicle back in the shop to fix it. One of the worst experiences we've ever had with a mechanic. our car broke down near Teslin and had to be towed to WH, where, unfortunately, there are very few mechanics who know how to repair a Volvo. We were stuck in a tent for three weeks waiting for the repairs to be completed and were charged an astronomical fee. They misstated facts to us several times about the condition and state of readiness of the car and refused to work even one minute overtime to help us. At one point, when we were finally ready to leave (or so we thought), the check engine light came on and they refused to take 10 minutes to run diagnostics because it was lunch time, forcing us to wait in the parking lot for an hour and almost miss our connecting ferry. This, after we had just paid them almost $3,000 for "repairs". When I pointed this out to the owner, Brian, he just turned on his heel saying "whatever" and walked back into his office. Our car has been running horribly ever since, leaking oil, transmission fluid, coolant, the check engine light is constantly on and we've had to spend over $1000 addl dollars just to repair the mess that the mechanics left us with. Later mechanics who looked at our engine literally gasped when they saw what a disaster it was (the Yukon "mechanics" hadn't even bothered to steam-clean our engine, wipe off any fluids that had leaked or tighten any hoses or belts). One mechanic told us that the list of codes reading out from his analytic computer was "longer than his arm". Every mechanic, without exception, was shocked at how badly the work had been done and at what they had charged us (not to mention the three weeks of costs of staying in WH). Nice folks in person. Talk a good game. But worked on my truck twice and twice did nothing to fix the problem I took it in for. Then, trying to get them on the phone to discuss follow-up...not a chance. I left several polite messages and not once did they reply. Overall, they don't seem at all concerned with customer satisfaction. I won't go back, nor would I recommend this shop to anyone. read more
