07/23 One of the scariest moments is a dreaded flat on the…read morenasty Alcan hwy in the Yukon. Welcome to our Sunday morning. It's 6:00am, pitch black and yours truly is speeding on the Alcan. This is such a pos dirt road, with its year-round pot holes and constant erosion. Oh, and it's raining. Most desolate situation we've faced out here in the wilderness. Make lots of noise to keep the bears away! With the donut spare attached away we go to Destruction Bay. It's a holiday weekend and some guy named Charlie is trying to sell my a tire out of his barn that's the wrong size. So we end up riding the donut spare from Beaver Creek to Whitehorse. Our fortune finds one tire in our size left in stock. We buy it and change it out, but the tire store can't mount it because we didn't buy all four. We seriously had to drive to the parking lot next door and raise the suv on that little scissor jack in the July heat. Along comes the garage manager in his way home for the day. He stops and finishes mounting the tire and putting away the donut. We insist he take $20 for the effort...He refuses and gets in his car to leave. We lost almost an entire day on this adventure. They never answered again after many attempts and text messages. If they didn't want to help us he shouldn't have told me he would. Wasted three hours of my time. Don't waste your time with them go elsewhere.

I was having engine trouble and took my car into to Yukon Tire Mechanical. They advised that there…read morewere some engine leaks and to replace the spark plugs, the dip stick and the engine cap. I agreed and they did that work. For about three months I experienced different engine trouble, especially at high speed and going up hills. I didn't think it was related to the spark plugs, but I took it to another mechanic and he said that the cause was a cracked spark plug. I was surprised as a spark plug should last for at least 50,000 kms. So I got all the spark plugs replaced (again) and had a coil replaced. Since then the engine has been running well. I went back to Yukon Tire Mechanical and showed them the cracked spark plug and told them what happened. I ended up speaking with the owner. He said he would reimburse the cost of the spark plug. While he finally agreed to pay me a little more than half of the money for the replacement work, during the conversation he threatened to go to court and was very argumentative. At no point did he apologize. While I appreciate the partial refund, the quality of the original service was very poor and the owner was condescending and rude. I will not return to Yukon Tire Mechanical.

I drive a Toyota and they did some work for me a while back. I'd received a quote of $1,600 from MicMac Toyota and Yukon Tire Mechanical did the exact same work for just over $900.

They were quick, professional, and even offered me the option of leaving the truck at the airport, where they would pick it up for me (saving me the cab fare). I had no choice but to get a tire and I felt the Honda tech's know that, and take advantage of out of towners in my predicament. The total for 1 Metzler Touance with mount was $405.90!!! Ontop of that when the mechanic removed the the rim, he cleaned the excess caked dirt with a coarse wire brush, in which scratched the f**k out of my rim! Riders, If you are heading to Alaska, don't get your tires changed there!

The local Suzuki shop (listers motorsports) did not even try and help saying we could wait 2 1/2 weeks for them to look at bike and too busy to even order parts which they said would take a week to arrive. We called Yukon Honda and John bent over backwards to help. They did not have part as they are Honda dealer but had it overnighted to get us back on the road the next day! We were on our way to Dawson city and discovered in Watson Lake that the treads on one of the tires…read moreon our travel trailer was completely worn on one side. When we arrived in Whitehorse we went to one of the larger RV dealers. They said that I probably had a bent axle but they couldn't look at it for at least two or three weeks. This was on Friday June 1st. On Saturday I spoke to John at Fireweed RV and he confirmed it was probably a bent axle. He said they could get me in on Monday and should be able to have us on our way by Wednesday at the latest. We took the trailer over Monday morning and because of a cancellation they thought they could get us going that day! John called at 1:00 P.M. that day with a couple of options; the axle was bent but they didn't have the exact replacement in stock. The welding shop he sent it to felt they could straighten it and get us on our way. That's exactly what happen and we were on our way later that day. Thanks to John and his staff we were able to finish the rest of our holidays and make it home with no issues. Great service, friendly staff and reasonably priced you can't ask for much more.
