No changing tables here. You're better off doing that in your vehicle. There are plenty of stalls for men/women.

Pretty nice for a rest area along on I-10 serving westbound traffic. It's super hot and super sunny…read morehere and there is just about no shade. However, there are two different traffic loops where you can angle your vehicle just about any way you want to put the Sun in the right place. There was also a decent breeze. With the roof vent open and the windows cracked, I had a good nap here before visiting the rest room and then continuing onwards. One small deficiency is that it is right next to the train line and even without the horns, those trains make a lot of noise. I have to imagine it would be much worse at night. If you've traveled with kids (or perhaps, an elderly person of questionable continence... or your…read morecollege roommate with the "hamster bladder") then you've experienced the unfortunate need to pull over at a rest stop. Before you go all Captain Obvious on me, consider the concept: a stand-alone restroom... owned, operated, and serviced (occasionally) by the government... cooking in the middle of the desert... offered for the admission fee of "on the house." Yes, friends, you get what you pay for. On our last trip screaming down the I-10, it was this on an almost-empty La Croix can for my 6 year old. In retrospect, we would have been better off just pulling off on the shoulder and engaging in a little "drown the fire ants." Still, we would not have seen that cool rattlesnake warning sign. Or enjoyed the wonderment: if you smell that much poop in a short period of time, what are the chances you can absorb Hep-A through your sinus tissues? Well, it is what it is. Don't drink so much water next time, or try to go when you stop at Arby's. Yeah, I know, I don't admit I occasionally stop at Arby's too, when I'm road tripping. I won't tell if you don't.

(It's also a critical stop for East-West cross-country cyclists who want to stay closer to the border with ¡MAGNIFICENT MEXICO!)], so I sped West on I-10, getting to the Westernmost large community in New Mexico. I've overnighted in this thriving gateway before biketouring/motoring onto or from: Silver City/Hachita/Animus/Rodeo/Douglas-Agua Prieta/Deming/Willcox/Chiricahua National Monument/Paradise/etc. Now, I needed a bed for a quick/good night's rest on my way back to the Bay Area, and I often go to where they leave the light on for me: Motel 6. I was lucky that receptionist NICOLAS was on duty; he checked me into the last room available, though I would happily have given it up to an immigrant family on the run [These are terrifying times under TREASONOUS/"divider-in-chief"/(USA)Constitution-trampling DJT]. Anyway, it was a much-needed stop, and certainly met my requirements: TV-remote/mini fridge/microwave excellent bed-mattress/ice. In fact, I lived a bit better this night because I was able to buy a few provisions at the fabulous Saucedo Market just before they closed. I really like this community; several years ago, while biketouring through, I was able to make critical bike repairs on my beloved Doublevision with parts from the Second Chance Lumber shop! This Motel 6 is such an important addition; this wonderful motel is certainly another key element in the health of LordsburgNM-USA, and all of it has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!"

It was a very long drive, but I did have 3 stops along the way which averaged to 3 hours of drive time per stop. I try not to spend too much time at each stop unless I'm shopping for plush toys for my daughters which I did on a few occasions LOL. Anyway, back to this review, check-in was fast and easy. Just needed to show my ID. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Got some information about the hotel amenities and free continental breakfast times. Got my room key and I was on my way to a good cold shower and some peaceful sleep LOL. I was fortunate to get a 1st floor room. It was big and spacious with a king size bed. It also had a big desk, TV, microwave, and small frig. The bed was comfortable, but something about their clumpy pillows... they need to replace the pillows for better head support. The other thing that I didn't care for was the lingering musky smell of the shower curtains. Just wasn't pleasant. Luckily, I was only there for one night and just needed one shower LOL. Otherwise, I would have asked them to change the curtains. Continental breakfast was decent. They have the waffle machine to make fresh waffles. They had bagels, muffins, cereal, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, apples, OJ & apple juices, etc. I just went for the raisin bagels (this was really good... it doesn't take too much to please me... just be the real deal LOL) and OJ (this was okay). Check-out was fast and easy. Just turned in the room key and left. Now that I think about it, the staff didn't print out any bill statement for me. Room was already paid for so I guess that's okay. Would I stay here again? I would if I'm going on a similar road trip. But next time, I'll probably fly. Thank you La Quinta!
