We are booked for 5 days and this was our first night here. We have the executive king room. Bed is…read morecomfortable and the sofa is a nice plus. There's also a mini fridge and microwave. The continental breakfast was bad. Coffee was very weak. Omelets were eggs w nacho cheese type cheese. Sausage was thin and dry. The plastic utensils are the flimsy of flimsiness...cheap. Come on La Quinta you can do better for your customers! P.S. The Best Western across the parking lot has an awesome breakfast selection with green chili gravy and awesome dark roast coffee. I've also requested a luggage stand and still no response. Definitely room for improvement overall.

It was almost a four star review, until the last hour of my stay…read more The front desk staff who assisted me during my stay were very friendly and helpful. This included the young man who checked me in, the older gentleman the following day who helped me extend an extra day, and the woman who helped me with a package of M&M's from their small snack store. The executive King Suites are generous in size and I greatly appreciated the in-room computer work desk where I wrote this review on my laptop and conducted other business. Everything was clean, including the air in my room which is important if you have any respiratory sensitives, asthma or allergies. Not even a hint of mildew in my room or restroom, which is awesome. This is a pet (dog) friendly hotel, so I do not know if that might be an issue for you. Keep in mind however that all of the hotels in this part of New Mexico are pet friendly. At no time did I hear any barking. There were no pet smells or any kind of indicators that any pets had been in my room before. This might be because they have different rooms for guests with pets, otherwise they just clean really well. The bed was firm but not hard and the pillows were reasonably comfortable. My room was across from the indoor swimming pool. I enjoyed stepping out of my door and seeing the shimmering pool through the window across from my room. Overall, this was one of the quieter hotels I have stayed in, but the doors to the hallway are thin, so there is some noise, none that woke me up or disrupted my sleep. Be aware that The thin walls and door bring up a concern I should mention. If you have to do any kind of private or legal activities in your room that require talking on the phone or video sharing private or personal information, others will hear you in the hall if they are by your door. So running the AC Fan on high or having the TV on, may help in making your conversations more private. This would also be the case if your going to be loudly making love with your partner. The mini-refrigerator didn't have the split freezer section that some do in other locations, the large tv had a decent selection of movie channel options and the restroom was well stocked with toilet paper, plenty of towels and toiletries. The breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy as its featured items. The scrambled eggs and sausage were tasty. Main disappointment with the free breakfast was there were no drinks other than Coffee (I don't drink coffee), and water with ice. Final thoughts: There is a small freezer near the check-in counter where you can purchase frozen meals in the hotel to heat up in your microwave, also various snacks and candies. They can charge your purchase to room bill in case you do not have any cash. To my disappointment, I had to drop this review down from four stars to three stars while I was eating breakfast and editing my review on the last morning for what I consider an inexcusable violation of privacy. An employee tapped two times lightly on my door at 9AM and then walked into my room while I was updating my review. I had the do-not-disturb sign up, and thought the knocking might be for the room next door. No one asked if anyone was in the room. I could of been in the restroom next to the door. Normally I would of still been sleeping with the room dark at this time, I got up early so I could review the breakfast. The person entering my room never identified themselves before entering or after exiting my room as an employee. For obvious reasons, this could of been a dangerous safety issue for the employee in particular.

If you're looking for a place that's clean, comfortable, historic, and affordable, stop scrolling…read more-- this is it! The rooms are spotless, the beds cozy, and everything feels freshly maintained. It's also in a great central location, close to restaurants and local sights but still peaceful and relaxing. What truly sets this hotel apart is Crystal. She's a gem! Crystal is knowledgeable about the town's history, knows where to find the best local food, and takes the time to share fun stories and recommendations. You can tell she genuinely cares about making your stay perfect. This hotel combines small-town hospitality with first-class service, and thanks to Crystal, it feels more like visiting family than staying at a hotel. Five enthusiastic stars! PS - as an added benefit, they have Roku TVs and subscribe to most services (including HULU live TV) so you can watch Sunday Night Football as we did last night. A big plus!!!

Stay started off well with initial contact from property about the stay and anticipated arrival…read moretime. Upon arrival it went downhill quickly. Going to office, noticed lots of people loitering around the parking lot with no apparent purpose. Many of the people with rooms were sitting outside with the provided folding chairs and their doors open (see below this should have been warning about temperature). It is directly next door to Del's restaurant so this *may* have contributed as they possibly seemed like local residents. Reserved a king room and was given a double. Noted a sign in office that said to turn off AC when you leave as "this saves energy which saves us money which keeps our prices low for you." Upon entering the room, even though they had asked my arrival time, the AC was off and the room was HOTTTTT. There were bad mosquitoes so leaving a door or window open without q screen was not an option. Opted to turn on the AC and try to get dinner and hopefully it would have cooled upon return. It did not and even in the morning the room was hotter than the air outside with the AC running all night. Did I feel safe? Not particularly. Lots of loitering people, no deadbolt, no chain, and had trouble getting single barrel lock to latch. Was it in good repair? Again, no. The stairs were falling apart if you get an upstairs room. The door latch wasn't easy to secure. The window seal was in need of repair. Just general upkeep needed on the property. Was it clean? No, the bathroom was dirty in shower floor and counter around sink and floor. While the sheets and comforter seemed clean and fresh, the box spring cover was stained. The surfaces of table and desk seemed clean. On the exterior, animal feces not cleaned off property. Were they hospitable? They tried, I think. Small touches were attempted like the welcome text and the flower on the toilet paper but this could not overcome the other issues. Was it quiet? Yes, once it got dark and traffic died down, it was quiet. Possibly because the AC unit was too loud to hear over though. Amenities? Mini refrigerator and microwave in room (I didn't use either). The room had a full walk-in closet with a suitcase valet. There is supposedly a provided Hulu account per sign in office, but this was logged out in the room provided so unable to access. There are other properties that seem better maintained along this stretch of road in Tucumcari for the same price point, seek elsewhere. (That said, there also appear to be WAY worse, use caution).
