Glenrio Vistor Center was closed (except for the restrooms) to all visitors.

On I40 West, Glenrio Welcome Center is the first thing that travelers see as they pass into New Mexico. Lots of parking available! When we stopped here, everything was closed except for the restrooms due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The restrooms were dirty and the trashcans were overflowing.

Entrance with picnic benches partially sheltered from the wind

Great place to get out and stretch or eat a picnic lunch... if the wind isn't too wild! This is a fun place to learn about New Mexico before crossing into it. Kids have a safe place to run around outside on the patio and inspect a dinosaur bone complete with tooth marks. During the summer it's probably too hot to stay long, but there are shaded benches to grab a bite.

Wind turbines across Texas Panhandle.

My husband and I are driving cross country from N.C. to AZ. When ever we do road trips like this, I…read morealways like to stop at either pilots, loves or flying j. They are never over crowded and it's always easy to drive in and out. This location was pretty clean! We made a quick restroom stop and decided to fill up the car as well. The bathrooms were extremely neat! I love that. I hate going into any restroom where it's filthy and stinks. This place did a great job at making sure everything was neat, clean and smelling good. This Station had a lot of choices when it came to snacks, drinks, food and merchandise. It's always great to have plenty of choices. I took a long time to try and determine what snacks to grade before we drove off... a staff member came up and asked if I needed help... I couldn't decide on what to get and this young lady helped me! Sometimes too many choices can be extremely difficult! Lol Check out was simple and quick. The cashier was super friendly. Great pit stop during our long drive!

When the lottery payouts are high I typically purchase advanced draw tickets in each state I…read moretravel. while traveling thru NM I had purchased tickets for which I had a $20 win. I gave my winning ticket (which had a remaining draw) to a clerk at Loves Travel Stop #262. The clerk named Destiny checked the ticket, received the payout stub and the exchange ticket that should have been returned to me. She took several minutes reading the slips that were output. So I am certain she was aware of each ticket's purpose. I asked her if there was confusion about what was output. She very rudely answered "No," she then proceeded to give me my $20 winnings but not the lottery exchange ticket (which for me was most valuable). When I ask where was my exchange ticket, she walked over, grabbed it and slammed it down on the counter with an attitude. SHE DEFINITELY INTENDED TO KEEP IT!
