I saw both Dr Jozef Labedzki and Dr Ming Liu at this dental clinic and both are equally good. My…read morefriend recommended Dr Liu when I was lamenting about finding a good dentist in Vancouver. My previous dentist is no longer practising and the two dentists I saw at two different clinics were not very good in diagnosing. So I fractured my molar and the receptionist managed to fit me in for an emergency consultation with Dr Liu. Kudos to that. I had a CT scan done and it looked like a root canal would be required and maybe an implant if the tooth could not be saved. Dr Liu referred me to Dr Labedzki as his schedule was packed and the next available time he had would be a week later. Dr Labedzki also took a look at my molar on the same day and took an additional x-ray (at no extra charge to me) for a detailed diagnosis. From the scan and x-ray, he had the same opinion as Dr Liu - likely root canal plus a crowning. I have a phobia of implant after my last experience a few years ago. I saw Dr Labedzki a couple of days later for the procedure and he took the time to properly freeze the affected area so that the pain would be minimized. In the end, a root canal was not required as it was not affected after all. A temporary restoration was done to the molar after the fractured part was removed and he recommended to do a crowning at a later date to protect the tooth better. Through my experience with both dentists, I find that they do put the patients' teeth first and will try to save it. They also do not charge extra or unnecessary items (maybe because I do not have insurance coverage) and I appreciate that. So yes, I have finally found a dentist whom I can go to for regular check up now.

The clinic itself is very nice, with pleasant staff, and Dr. Shirbani was helpful and gracious, providing a referral to a specialist if needed. However, my experience was marred by a subsequent interaction with a receptionist on Saturday, July 12th, at 9:05 am, who was difficult, unfriendly, unempathetic, and rude. I had concerns regarding my wisdom tooth and was seeking a brief consultation with the doctor, but the receptionist was unaccommodating, suggesting I book an appointment instead. Upon calling back to ask a question, I was informed that the doctor recommended I visit a specialist, which was not relevant to my concern about my wisdom tooth. I was extremely disappointed by the receptionist's behavior, which was a stark contrast to the helpful and compassionate service I received the previous day. As a paying patient, I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, my experience was subpar, and I would not recommend this dental clinic to anyone in Canada. I have traveled extensively and lived in various places, and this was the most disappointing experience I've had. I called back to address the unprofessional behavior, but my call was not returned. I hope the clinic will take steps to address the discriminatory behavior and provide better service to their patients

Today I had a terrible experience with the dentist Dr.Kwok…read more Because of past experiences with tooth extraction I suggested that I was sedated for a back tooth extraction I was scheduled to have done today. Dr.Kwok insisted it wasn't necessary and convinced me using photos and examples to carry on with the surgery. As I expected, the extraction was not possible as it was impossible to put the nerve to sleep, at the end it was surmised that there must be an extra nerve somewhere and finally the operation was terminated part way through. My mouth was stitched up and I will have to see a surgeon quickly as my tooth has been ground down somewhat and is loose and very painful. I was shocked mostly at the doctor's attitude about what was happening, it was almost unbelievable. His priority is clearly not my tooth or condition, they sent me off without a surgeons appointment. Not any sign of an apology for what had happened although clearly I had warned the doctor and staff that I should be sedated. They even insisted on charging me for the cleaning they did right before the botched extraction, so I ended up paying them money for the privilege or tearing my mouth up, stitches and all, for no reason. As well I knew the freezing wasn't taking and told him several times throughout this painful 45min/1hour experience and each time he dismissed and ignored me until finally upon trying to extract he could see I was serious about the pain. This was not the worst part really of this appointment though. I went back to the office, along with my wife who is quite a fair minded person, to discuss the situation and see if we couldn't make it better. I really didn't want to leave Arcola as my family has been there for a while. From the conversation it was made even more clear how little I was valued as a regular customer as Dr.Kwok's attitude throughout the entire discussion was surprisingly aloof. He argued using semantics and was entirely self-serving and inauthentic. Like talking to someone in bad faith he was dishonest several times during our discussion. I went into the discussion thinking it would be easy to rectify the situation, I didn't want anything really but an apology and some better after care for the situation he left in my mouth. However, I left there feeling that the man I once respected was a weasel completely, and much more petty than I assumed. Dr.Kwok hurt me physically today unnecessarily, did not successfully complete an operation that he insisted on doing against my suggestion. He then did not apologize for that or accept any accountability at all. He then charged me money for my visit. He actually said "but the cleaning was successful". I said "Yes, I suppose except the blood in my mouth currently". I personally believe, after my discussion with him today, that he is dangerous to customers potentially and basically his niceness is completely fake. He hurt me quite badly today and very obviously cares less. So I highly suggest finding a better dentist that will at least acknowledge when things don't go as he planned.

"J" doesn't usually complain about pain but this issue needed to be diagnosed right away. After recommendations from my sister, who said there was a dentist office just down the street, we went to see Dr. Kim at the Sunstone Dental Clinic. This newer building was decorated neatly and eye pleasing on the inside. My daughter and I were both thrilled with the immediate friendly service we received. We were even given a short wait for an immediate emergency appointment! While we waited all of six minutes, we were offered a cup of tea or coffee by Kristy. To my surprise, a delicious cup of coffee arrived in a charming tea cup on a tray accompanied by cold cream, sweetener and two biscuits! Tea house style!! I was encouraged to bring it with me into the exam room. The doctor, James Kim was kind and possessed a great bedside manner as he explained what he concluded after inspecting the xrays. Considering our limited time before flying home, he kindly gave options for her treatment. We decided it was best to wait to have a route canal, filling and crown by a periodontist back home. He could pull the tooth in question if the pain was unbearable but he recommended my daughter to save her tooth. After paying, J and I left with a prescription for an antibiotic and ibuprofen recommendation. We agreed that this visit was most professional and reassuring! If my sister or anyone is wanting dental care in the North Delta area, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Kim his team!

We brought in our 5 year-old son for a consultation to fix his 8 cavities (yes, we're not good…read morebrushers/flossers) after his general dentist said that he's not experienced enough with young kids. We brought in X-rays, and Dr. Chander maybe spent a minute with us telling what he would do - fix all either with laughing gas or send us to another specialist to fix all at one time under general anesthetic and then he left. We then spent the next 10 minutes talking to the manager about payment options. When I questioned why we couldn't ask for a treatment plan without laughing gas or general anesthetic, the answer I got was, "well, the doctor probably thought he's uncooperative". Since we were uncomfortable with the treatment plan offered, we consulted yet another dentist, and there, the dentist spent 10-15 minutes during the consultation meeting check each tooth over and also testing our son's patience in the chair, needless to say, we went to this dentist to fix his teeth. I have no problems with dental practices needing to make money (especially if they have a fancy waiting room and staff that don't hate you when you walk in). I can also rationalize exceptionally good dentists charging above what is recommended by the provincial dental pay scale (they also will demand the difference between what your insurance pays and what they charge even for a consultation), but what I have a problem with is when a PEDIATRIC dental practice has no desire to determine a child's comfort level in the chair BEFORE recommending a treatment plan. Our son has seen quite a few doctors and specialists and has had a few exams with various machines, and the conclusion after all these exams is how calm he is - in fact, where he got his teeth fixed, he was even used as the example by the parent of a screaming child of how to behave at a dentist's office. Boy, this has turned into a very long review, but we saw the positive reviews from other patients and thought we might be able to get the same - a meaningful consultation with a pediatric dental specialist that would know how to deal with children without having to resort to rendering them dazed and confused. We didn't get that, and in fact, the only thing we did get was a bad taste in our mouths.

Very demeaning and unpleasant experience at this clinic. The…read morereceptionist (NOT THE ONE IN THE PICTURES - middle aged, Caucasian, brown blonde hair) is disrespectful and demeaning to clients. When I had booked my and my husbands first appointments I asked if they would provide an ESTIMATE of the out of pocket cost (after insurance coverage) and she said yes. On the day of the appointment she ridiculed me in front of her colleague (the younger receptionist you see in the photo's) and another client waiting in the waiting room. Saying "I can't tell you what you will pay, don't you know anything about your own insurance?" I explained she told me over the phone that they could provide an estimate - she knew it was her. The hygienist - Angie/Anita (or something close to that) was absolutely wonderful. She calmed my nerves and listened to my concerns and was very gentle during the cleaning. I found Dr. Norman Wong to be the opposite. He didn't listen to my concerns and was only interested in covering up his poor chair-side manner with stupid jokes. I asked him what we could do about the discoloration on the front right tooth (I had a filling in that tooth many years ago and it was becoming dark). He said all he could do was polish the tooth but that was all. I thought that was a bit strange, but since he said that was my only option I agreed to do it.I also had a chip on the front left tooth and was told the only thing we could do was to fill the bottom in and I agreed to that, made an appointment to get both done. He didn't go into much detail about either option. All he did was literally buff the surface of the tooth that was turning brown - the tooth was now shiny, but still discolored. I was pretty mad at myself for allowing this guy to talk me into such a stupid "solution" and paying for that! The filling chipped/ broke off within 10 days. 6 months or so later I had the next cleaning, I had the same hygienist. She asked me about the issues we'd discussed the first time and I told her that I was not happy about the options and service provided by Dr. Wong. She told me that he could re-do the filling so the dark filling would be removed and re-filled, resulting in a white (tooth like) appearance again. I wasn't happy that Dr. Wong did not give me this option the first time. When Dr. Wong came in to follow up as they always do, I asked what we could do about the discoloration and mentioned that the previous time he stated that polishing was the only thing to do. He seemed very annoyed at my asking and being unhappy with the polishing. He said well the only thing that can be done is to re-do the filling - with a very short, irritated attitude. To which I stated well then let's do it - in kind. For the rest of the consultation he spoke to the hygienist, didn't ask if I have any questions (which I did have) and just walked out without even greeting me... Angie/Anita walked me out and handed a sticky note to the male female receptionist, who was busy and didn't notice. I went to the male receptionist who printed our invoices and settled the bill. I told him I have to make an appointment and the other receptionist had the sticky note, but I would need to check my schedule and get back to them. He was professional and kind. I told my husband what happened and he insisted we go back and see if the Dr. could discuss other options (even if we had to wait for a while) like braces, to straighten my teeth because we think problem is that the discolored tooth was skew and positioned in such a way that made discoloration inevitable even if we re-filled the tooth. When we got there I asked the receptionist if she could refer us to an orthodontist, she was alone in front now. She said Dr. Wong is an orthodontist and he would be happy to discuss all my options at my next visit. She implied that I was rude to have left without booking the appointment as discussed with the Dr. I told her I had spoken to her colleague and that I needed to get back to them. We asked to see the Dr. as it would impact the appointment, we'd gladly wait. She said I should've asked all my questions during my appointment, I would need to book another appointment. I told her the Dr. walked out without giving me the opportunity to ask further questions. She said that I had clearly agreed upon a treatment so if I wanted to speak to him I could make an appointment for another day. My husband said we just wanted to make sure what all the options were and explained why we thought there could be more options. I showed her the tooth in question and she started arguing that I had discussed the wrong tooth with the Dr. as the sticky note was for a different tooth and raised her voice at me. I calmly told her there can't be a re-filling on a tooth that doesn't have a filling. Alas, we were were turned away and left without seeing the Dr. I've cancelled my next cleaning - still hurt and disappointed.
