I was kind of shocked, to be honest, with my experience here. We own a plot of land up in Sikiyou…read morecounty, just south of Mt. Shasta. Solano's and TruValue are about all there is up there. At Solano's I purchased a couple of things and then the person checking me out asked if I was a member of their loyalty program. I said that I wasn't, but I'm happy to sign up, since I have a lot nearby and was planning to develop it pretty soon. But she wouldn't sign me up. She said that the loyalty program was for "local residents only." But I had a lot that I was working on - in fact that's the reason why I bought the few items I did. She said it didn't matter - "...maybe once the lot was finished and you had a local address maybe then you could join the loyalty club." REALLY? I wonder how the owners might feel about that attitude. Needless to say, I'll be shopping at the TruValue for home goods most of the time when we move to Siskiyou later this year. Only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because the staff in the lumberyard were friendly and cut my 4X4 for no charge.

I've been a long time loyal customer here, having shopped here for 12 years or so. Do I need one? Was my reply. I shop here all the time I come in at least once a week. This person is obviously new here and doesn't really know the ropes, apparently. Not, "hi, did you find everything OK". What she meant to ask was "Do you have a rewards card"? Which I do, and have had since around 2014 or so. That's another thing, and the reason that lately I have just skipped over that step, because I haven't really seen much of a reward in recent years, plus there's no at the register discount. After tallying-up all my things which came to about $100, she then asks for my ZIP Code. Excuse me? I have never been asked this in 12 years of shopping at Solano's. It's invasive and time consuming and unnecessary to do your demographic data gathering at the register. I will say this, the two young men you have working for you have been extremely helpful - the bearded young guy and the bespectacled fellow are always prompt, courteous, and helpful. I will wait in their lines, preferably. Your new older lady needs some re-training on customer service skills, or I will be happy to school her if I have no choice but to go through her line.
