She creates a safe space for me to grow vocally while also pushing me outside of my comfort zone to help me grow creatively. I've seen Ingrid work with all sorts of singers-- beginning to advanced, children to adults, and everyone in between. She doesn't use a "one-size-fits-all" technique of teaching voice but rather she personalizes every lesson for each singer's specific voice and creative goals. Music has always been there for me through many difficult parts of my life, but I've always felt like there was this gap between music and I that I could never close. I never felt like I had any talent to immerse myself, or further myself in it. Always just singing to myself, or when I'm alone, because that's the only time I have the courage to explore my voice. I have to say I've never felt this great singing before and it's only been four lessons. This year for me is big on self investment and rediscovering myself and where my interests/passion lies. You've gotta take some risks in life sometimes and taking a chance on vocal lessons with you has been by far one of the best decisions I've made in a while!. I'd always been interested in singing, but after hearing myself attempt to sing in the past, I was…read moreconvinced I was tone-deaf and felt discouraged. After my acting teacher recommended all actors do vocal training, I took the opportunity to try it. As an adult beginner with no real singing experience, searching for a place to start was intimidating, but I'm so glad I took the leap with this studio. Through the Vocal Foundation program with Stuart Wheeler, I've learned that I'm indeed NOT tone-deaf, and that with the right training and technique, I've been able to unlock a part of my voice that I've not been able to access until now. Stuart is a highly-skilled teacher, singer, and musician, with the ability to articulate complex musical terms in a way that easily clicks in my mind (and I'm not an easy person to teach!). He is a patient, compassionate instructor who provides a safe, fun space to learn and explore. I've enjoyed being able to choose the songs that we work on. My lessons have always been insightful and surprisingly empowering. In just a few months, I've gained much more control and confidence in my own voice, expanded my range, learned to be more mentally focused and present, and have sharpened my listening skills. I can now sing for pleasure without being so self-conscious. My vocal training has even helped improve my piano and guitar practice! The session rates are reasonable and the location/parking are convenient. I haven't had a chance to work directly with Jane but she has been lovely over our communications. Overall, I've gained so much from my training here and I look forward to continuing.

His classes were not only fun and incredibly informative but I also love the way he teaches. He delivers clear feedback in an encouraging way while also remaining open to your own interpretation of something. His VO classes are amazing so I figured this class would be too. I was right! I've been going for almost 6 months and I've learned so much. The class is so unique in that it touches upon several exercises and techniques to give you a well-rounded experience. There is scene work, yes, but that's just one of a number of things we work on. There are different improv exercises, character work assignments, mock-auditions, and scene work that is rehearsed and ultimately filmed. I can really see improvement when looking back at my earlier clips in class. I HIGHLY recommend checking out his classes, especially his Acting Technique class. David is a wonderful, encouraging teacher with a wealth of knowledge and the ability to give clear direction while fostering your own unique voice.
