Despite some negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. I am scheduled to work at…read moreForest Health Center very early tomorrow and needed a place to stay nearby. The Marriott was further away, the rate was $143 per night, and that hotel had no vacancies. I then found the Harmony House Motel where the rate was $55 through booking.com. I went ahead and booked a room...and then discovered a number of very negative online reviews. I called the hotel and expressed my concerns. The clerk assured me that my room would be clean and comfortable. After driving in from the Detroit suburbs, I checked in and Cheryl accompanied me to my room. As promised, the hotel was well maintained both outside and in, and the room was as she described. Another plus is that my car is only 30 feet from my room. This hotel is not the Taj Mahal and it's not in a prosperous area but the people who run it take pride in what they provide and it shows. The staff were very kind and made an extra effort to make my stay a pleasant one. For this reason, I am giving Harmony House a five star rating.

The staff is extremely friendly. The rooms are clean comfortable, and well maintained. They may not have wifi but they do have satellite TV with so many channels you can't possibly keep up. The motels located close to everything, such as a McDonalds and a Happy's pizza right across the street as well as grocery stores and right near bus lines. It's less than half a mile from the downtown district which is a beautiful place to go visit, or just walk down to the river. Everything is so close it's just a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the beautiful city of Ypsilanti. I personally love the motel. They have daily, as well as weekly rates. I'm taking advantage of the weekly rates, so far we've been here for 3 weeks are planning on staying longer. Thanks to everyone not only here at the motel but in this wonderful city we are going to look for a place to live and stay here. Don't think you can say anything better about a place then that. So I personally thank the people of Harmony House Motel. You made this a home!

I thought I'd give this hotel a try because the weekend we were there was BUSY! The reviews were awful, but figured I needed a place to sleep for just one night. The hotel charged me DOUBLE the quoted and confirmed rate. I had an email that clearly stated my rate and I was told I was wrong. Others had the same issue. This has been happening here for years. Their BBB rating is an F for charge disputes. Travis, the owner, and Isaac who runs the front deck, could care less. They were beyond rude and insinuated that all of us had the wrong rates. Mine from Expedia, another from Wyndham, etc. Somehow we were all wrong. DO NOT STAY HERE! Drive outside Ann Arbor to Jackson and you'll find plenty of great hotels and it's an easy drive!

If I could give zero stars I would.

I was in town for the Cinetopia film…read morefestival this weekend and I didn't want to make the 45 to 60 minute drive home Saturday night, since I was seeing movies on Sunday, so I opted to stay here. One of my credit cards gives me a $150 off deal if you book on the Delta site, with a prepaid stay, and this qualified: it was $175 for a King Executive suite (basically one room but with a sitting area), or I could've paid $160 for a standard king room. Since I was paying either $10 or $25, I opted for the larger room. Pros: -Decently sized room -Microwave, although we didn't use it, and mini fridge -Little sitting area (2-person couch, chair, table) -Super hot shower, although my fiance used it first and said it took a while to warm up -Surprisingly nice TP, like definitely 2- or 3-ply. Con: they wedge it into the holder and it doesn't spin, so I had to take it out. -Free breakfast, but pretty basic: some hot options, like sausage, potatoes, and eggs, but mostly cold options like cereal and certain breads. They did have a nice juice selection, they had orange juice and a V8 blend. -Comfy bed with lots of pillows -A lot of random amenities like a billiards area and other games, pool area, outdoor patio-type area, etc. -Easy access to US-23 Cons: -When we got to the room there were two bottles of water with a sign that said "enjoy a refreshing bottle of water, $1 each." Why not provide those complimentary for the room and add $2 to my nightly rate? I'd prefer that. -Not a lot of places to charge devices, at least not near the bed. My fiance had two slots in the clock radio, I believe it was, but they eventually stopped working. I had to plug my phone in near a lamp across the room. -This is a small one but housekeeping knocked on our door at 10:45 a.m. today while we were trying to prepare for 11:00 a.m. check out. I feel like they should know what rooms are checking out on what days? Not sure about that. That being said, I would stay here again, although $175 seems like a lot of money, albeit on a Saturday night.

We picked our room online and got a digital key, so we were able to bypass check-in. Our room was comfortable, smelled nice, and very clean. I noticed it was also very quiet, usually I'm up all night hearing door slams or the family of elephants that always seems to occupy the room right over me?! I don't remember hearing a single door or footstep. I had a late check-out since my husband had a class. I was surprised when his 2 o'clock return time ended up being after four! I didn't know what to do since we took an Uber here from the airport. Becky said I was more than welcome to wait in the lobby as long as I needed to for his return. She was very gracious and kind. That made my wait less awkward. She also gave me some chocolate chip cookies, that made my wait more enjoyable. Watching Becky work was amazing, she was here, there, and everywhere! It's rare when you come across someone who loves their job and is compassionate, so she was a perfect fit more me! Definitely would stay here again.

The one maybe downside is that I do not think any of the rooms have 2 beds. Our 1 bedroom suite had a king bed and a pullout sofabed. I think you need the 2 bedroom suite to get 2 beds (not a sofa bed). But all in all very good and convenient for North Campus. There are other hotels closer to central campus but they were twice the price during move in week or sold out.
