We stayed one night here while in a business trip. The place looks very nice from the outside, beautiful flowers blooming- early Spring. The lobby area was very clean. We picked our room online and got a digital key, so we were able to bypass check-in. Our room was comfortable, smelled nice, and very clean. I noticed it was also very quiet, usually I'm up all night hearing door slams or the family of elephants that always seems to occupy the room right over me?! I don't remember hearing a single door or footstep. I had a late check-out since my husband had a class. I was surprised when his 2 o'clock return time ended up being after four! I didn't know what to do since we took an Uber here from the airport. Becky said I was more than welcome to wait in the lobby as long as I needed to for his return. She was very gracious and kind. That made my wait less awkward. She also gave me some chocolate chip cookies, that made my wait more enjoyable. Watching Becky work was amazing, she was here, there, and everywhere! It's rare when you come across someone who loves their job and is compassionate, so she was a perfect fit more me! Definitely would stay here again. read more

Just had a very unpleasant experience with a woman on the phone. For some reason our card was charged for a reservation we had made a year in advance (May 2027). We called to get it fixed and the woman rudely interrupted as I was just trying to explain the situation. I was then blamed for not being "civil" even though she was the one not being polite in a situation they were responsible for creating. They then gave an excuse for the charge and said they would look into fixing it. I canceled the reservation, and will never be staying here. read more

The rooms are quiet and clean. The beds are comfortable - you can't ask for more than that. It's near the highway, but the parking lot is safe. The rooms are very quiet - we didn't hear a single noise from the highway. The standard room rate includes a microwave, a mini fridge, and a coffee maker, but it does NOT include a free breakfast like most Hilton properties do. However, they have a breakfast buffet in their restaurant that is $16. I recommend skipping the $16 buffet and walking next door to the Coney Island Diner that has breakfast all day. read more

I stayed here for one night when I was in Ann Arbor for the Cinetopia Film Festival this past weekend. I have a deal through my Delta credit card where if I spend $150 on a prepaid stay, I get $150 off, and this hotel happened to be $150.01 for the night. My review for the hotel might be a little biased... I stayed at another Hilton hotel earlier this week, for work, Homewood Suites in Indianapolis, and my room was gigantic and pretty perfect. So I had that visit fresh in my mind when I stayed here, I'll admit. Pros: -very friendly front desk check-in person. I was a bit bummed they ran out of cookies (this is a con. Lol) but to be fair I checked in around midnight on a Saturday night, and he gave me one of their new gluten-free cookies to make up for it. -nice free water station in the lobby, with both lemon-flavored water and plain. -comfortable bed, although kind of high off the ground and I'm only 5'5, so I felt like I had to jump into it (I'm also pregnant right now, so this was hard to do). -very clean room -the outdoor pool looks nice but it's currently mid-May and about 50 to 60°, so I didn't get to use it. -nice Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries -lots of free parking and a big parking lot,, rare in A2 but this is more North Campus vs. Central (I'm a UM alum, as well). -microwave and mini fridge in the room. -a lot of charging areas in the room, all attached to lamps, for the most part. Cons: -Had to walk about 5 minutes to get to my room, I was in room 203 and it looks like they have multiple elevators but from the closest one to the front desk that I rode, it was a bit of a walk. -The room itself is rather small, although I stayed at a hotel in Cincinnati a few weeks ago in another Hilton brand (Tru hotel) and it was a lot bigger than that one. -The bathroom is small, if you are staying by yourself and don't need to shut the door, you will need to anyways, because otherwise your leg is literally right next to it when you are using the toilet. -Showers but no bathtubs. -No free breakfast but I knew this going in. Other Yelpers have said that their paid breakfast is very good, though. -It makes me annoyed when hotels offer paid water bottles in the room. The ironic thing about this one is that it was $2 per bottle, for Hilton Diamond, Gold, and Silver members... I am a Hilton Silver member, but I booked through Delta travel so I don't think they have my Hilton info... So I made do with tap water in the morning. Overall I would still stay here again, as the bed was comfortable and the walls were pretty soundproof. It's a rather large hotel and yesterday I saw a lot of people checking in later at night, they looked like they were coming from a wedding or something, so it looks like a lot of people do stay here. If you're looking for easy access to the highway this is a good choice also, I was headed back to downtown A2 for my second day of the film fest, though (only about a 12-15 minute drive to downtown, too). read more

We stayed at this hotel last night. Made the reservation via Priceline. Info said included free breakfast. When we saw a breakfast price of $16, we asked at the front desk and she told us it wasn't included in our reservation. I told her that ot said it was and she said that was wrong info. The room rate was $150+. Not only did the not include breakfast, but they also didn't offer complimentary coffee, they had a $3 charge if you wanted their brewed coffee and not the "free" crappy stuff in the room. That was ridiculous. In all our travels, that was the 1st time a hotel didn't offer complimentary coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The room was fine, clean and the bed comfortable. However, the heater/air conditioning unit was incredibly loud going on and off about every 10 minutes and waking us up. Our next hotel stay will not be at a Double Tree as they do not offer these few things that show their appreciation for you staying with them. read more

The breakfast was $16 for less than stellar quality. I ate eggs and 3 subpar sausages coffee and icky fruit and had to argue for a reduced price. The Sunday lady was nice. The Monday gentleman not so much. I'm from the big city, and this was really bad food. Go to a real breakfast spot or Dennys. You are paying for convenience. This was not good even by free buffet standards. They don't even have free lobby coffee!!!! Just some water by the front desk. I will second the surly front desk folks. Definite attitude. Not fine dining by a long shot. I would never eat breakfast there. read more

Quick review, the hotel is amazing, the *hotel* staff great, the rooms clean, etc. And please note, I usually don't output bad reviews, as most people have a bad day now and then, and I try and be understanding. I've worked food service, I know how hard it can be dealing with people. HOWEVER, we were there for an event 6/1/24 and afterwards went into the attached bar (different owner than hotel, apparently?) and got the rudest service I think I've ever had from the lone bartendress. *This continued for other customers for the rest of the evening.* So it wasn't just us. Apparently there was some issue with her being there beyond her scheduled time, but that's no reason to take it out on customers that were about to tip very well. She could have made major bank, but chose to be mean, instead. Otherwise I'd give 5 stars easily. We rallied after ignoring her and the rest of the hotel was awesome. read more

The woman that checked me in was extremely nice. Even weeks later, they were able to email me a copy of the receipt w/in seconds. I really appreciate its simplicity; no room service and due to COVID, their dining opens Thu-Sun, I believe. i didn't get a chance to enjoy it because I started work at 6AM and didn't come back till 7PM. There is a 24hr mini mart w/ your basic necessities. There is a mini refrigerator in each room so if you want to store your food, water, sodas, whatever.. you can. The bathroom is quite cramp and the room is pretty standard. There was a sock in the drawer (not mine, of course). Behind the chair, the tag from the chair was on the floor. The outlets in the bathroom wasn't working (they do have a hairdryer in each room) so I was fishing for a working outlet to dry my hair. Enjoyed the 24hr gym facility once. The basic cardio and weights. I had a plan to workout but my work schedule did not allow me to do that. The Wi-Fi is free and pretty darn fast; had no issues working when I got back in the evening. Thanks to my company and for DoubleTree for making my stay hassle-free! P.S. No cookie but that maybe due to COVID. P.S.S. Our stay here was a terrible experience. The staff was very rude and so not helpful, had no lunch on the property, dinner was horrible in the restaurant, couldn't get a hold of anyone on the phone, barely got room service... acted like they've never done it before and last but not least, they charged us a $40 late fee when we were only a few minutes past check-out and had to wait in line at the desk and said nope, you were late, were charging you! That was the final straw. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel if you ever need to stay near U Mich! We will never stay there, again. read more

It had been a couple of years since I last stayed at a DoubleTree. I greatly appreciated their chocolate chip cookie after a long day of travel. Although I already got a digital key when I checked in with my smartphone, I made sure to pass by the front desk. Sadly, the employee told me there would be no chocolate chip cookie due to the pandemic. Both the iOS app and the bio on the hotel's individual Twitter page need to be updated to set proper expectations. Because my loyalty status was never acknowledged, I forgot to request a late checkout and had to return during my stay. Due to my status, I expected two bottles of water in my room. The mobile app also reminded me of my expected benefit. When I entered the room, they were missing. The lower-tiered properties never failed to provide them. Fortunately, there is a CVS across the street and a Busch's Fresh Food Market around the corner within walking distance. Instead of a minibar, the room had an empty mini fridge with plenty of room to store my water bottles. The bathroom had facial soap but no bath soap. Another item added to the shopping list. The bed caught my attention. Its height was higher than a typical bed. The top of the bed almost reached my hips. When I sat on it, my feet would not touch the floor. A bit of a puzzle this hotel. The hotel staff is friendly, works hard and wants to be helpful, it seemed to me. Unfortunately, the deck seems to be stacked against them with a number of infrastructure issues. The hotel is in a bit of disrepair in some sense; again the puzzle. Bathroom fixtures appear new, but wallpaper is peeling off the walls and there is mold around the tub. This is what we found in the room we stayed in for the first night. Also, it was very damp in the room. Our sheets felt damp, our luggage felt damp the next morning, and feet felt damp walking on the carpet. One out of two elevators we tried to use was out of order. The one we did use repeatedly had pizza remnants on the floor for 24 hours. It was never cleaned up. One out of two dryers in the laundry room was out of order. Due to the dampness of the initial room, we asked to be moved to another room for the second night. Even though they were booked up, they did find another room for us, though I did need to push back on initial resistance. I am very thankful to the staff for the move. The second room we moved into was dry and nicely and newly appointed. But again, the bathroom was puzzling. Though newly remodeled, the sliding shower door did not stay shut. One had to hold it closed while showering, lest the bathroom floor would flood. I showered while holding the shower door closed, alternating between my free fingers and toes. The location is convenient to many restaurants and is close enough to downtown Ann Arbor. Overall, the second room was fine, but the overall experience was not commensurate to the price we were charged. PS: My daughter would like me to add that she thought the place was fine. I was there for a work related conference. The front desk service upon check in was mediocre at best, nothing that shouted the staff was happy to be there or was happy any of those checking in were there either. Because the restaurant was only open for dinner, the conference breaks had to be adjusted so we could all leave to get a meal and make it back in time. There was nothing I could pinpoint as "wrong," but certainly nothing made me want to go back again. read more

Things were adequate the first night. The shower temp was mediocre after 7:15 am (fine before that). I tipped the maid, but the room wasn't refreshed. All of that was forgivable. But what wasn't forgivable was asking for a replacement room key at 11:45 pm and being treated like a turd. We rang the front desk bell and nobody answered. So I poked my head in the back and politely asked for assistance. We were told, essentially, to stuff it. The dude was on break. Good luck getting decent service at night. Stayed here on a weekend in A2 to go to "The Game." It is on the outskirts of Ann Arbor and is about a 15min Uber to the downtown area. The bed was comfortable, coffee hot and plentiful, and staff were inviting and helpful. The warm cookies upon arrival were a hit also. The hotel has a restaurant and full bar as well. I didn't check out any of the other facilities since we were there only a short time. We would stay again when in A2. read more

I'm a kidney transplant recipient and I stayed at this hotel twice in the past week. The first time we were referred by UofM medical. The second time, because of our first experience, we decided to stay again. This hotel need updating. The light on the night stand was falling apart, the toilet was the old really low style there was dirt in every corner in the bathroom. This is the first hotel that I have been in that adds money to your bill and tells you it is for incidentals and that it is an industry standard. Went to the breakfast room wife an I got what we wanted and then an employee asked us for our coupons. What coupons I stayed here. Oh the breakfast has to be arranged when booking your stay and they will add the cost to your room fee. What? I stayed here. Well we had to pay $33 for nothing any betters than you would get at other hotels FREE when you stay. We were not told about this when we made the reservations, when checking in or when checking out. Stayed for four nights for work and visiting family. The people who work here are super nice and looking at the other reviews I think my experience isn't the norm. If you're in town for an event I bet this hotel is fine. If you're coming for work and you're planning to work in the room like I was, I wouldn't recommend this facility. I got slivers from the desk. No windows open so it got stuffy during the day. I got disconnected from the Wi-Fi between 11:00-12:00 every day, which makes sense maybe-so you sign in again. But you don't want to be in the middle of a presentation when it bumps you off with no warning. The TV remote didn't work and oddly there was scotch tape all over the ceiling of my room. It also seems like they needed to upcharge lots of things-like tea and coffee, that doesn't happen elsewhere. And the people partying in the room next to me kept me up. I won't stay here again but if you're in town to party and don't plan to be in your room, this place would be fine. read more

Just had the most unprofessional encounter with the staffs here, Nick W, the manager and Terrence the staff were the most terrible person to deal with. we booked via 3rd party app and called them on the first day of reservation to notify them we were not able to make it on the first day and asked about some possible options, staff 1 on the line told us he was able to cancel the reservation and send us the confirmation but never did, so I called again, staff 2 told me different thing by saying there was nothing they could do as it's booked through 3rd party, I then explained to her their staff 1 advised differently, she then got inpatient and hung up on me and refused further communications, very rude and unprofessional behavior. It was a female staff. So, losing the first day reservation was already not so pleasant, we showed up on the second day, assuming we weren't able to modify the reservation as the staff suggested and terms on 3rd party email. Day 2 was also part of the reservation, but they said our reservation was canceled due to no show on first day, we explained to them that we tried to call on first day to address this issue and was not addressed a solution. I spoke to both manager Nick W and staff Terrence, both were not helpful and highly unprofessional, they told us to get a new reservation while having to lose our money from the 3rd party reservation which we originally booked, we booked for 2 nights and now has to pay again to book for the 2nd night. How does it make sense? How can they have the right to cancel our booking and tell us to deal with 3rd party for cancellation refund? This is the most disgusting encounter I have had with a hotel. read more

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. I didn't use the restaurant or house keeping but I liked the free fruit water on tap and caffeine by the front desk and really appreciated that they gave me the vegan and normal cookie so I could taste test them. Fast check out and check in. Looked like there was plenty of parking but I didn't have a car. Walking distance to food and a convenience store. read more

I give this hotel five stars because from the time I booked and checked in the staff has been simply amazing. Rooms are clean and sanitize smells just like Lysol when you walk in. The staff is very friendly you can tell everyone loves their jobs. Definitely will be returning soon.
