I LOVE THESE GUYS! As a college aged girl who knows very little about cars, I always feel really stupid when I take my cars to shops here and there. They ask me questions that I never know the answers too and Im always worried In gonna get overcharged for things I wouldn't need or whatever. BUT, not Steve! I bought a suspicious car off of Facebook market place and I was super worried about it being completely broken but the guys at Your Buddy Steve looked over my car and went into detail all the things that COULD be replaced and the things that should be fixed SOON. They called me before they did any work and made sure they had my complete approval and understanding before they went forward with work. They fixed my engine stutters, my finicky engine light, changed my oil, and just helped me understand the small things that were wrong that I could get fixed later on. They are extremely trustworthy, and extremely friendly, they keep in touch with me when I need my oil changed and ask every so often if I need a check up! I Trust them so much, Even though I have recently moved to South Carolina, when I am visiting family in Croydon, I make sure I take my car here every time I'm around. read more

3 stars- I was recommended here and I have family members that came so why not give it a try. First thing, none of the workers were wearing a mask. There's a sign by the front door that says "Required but you don't have to" (something along those lines). Inside the office was another sign about wearing a mask but still no one was wearing it not even the receptionist. Next, Not going to say her name but reception lady wasn't that friendly and didn't seem knowledgeable. I asked a bunch of questions/concerns and it felt like I was bothering her.. since this was my first time here, I need answers regarding my car, right? Prices are a bit high if you're not using a coupon. Sooo, I got a flyer and it said you can make an appointment online. I tried making an appointment couple days before and got no respond so I had to call in. Luckily, I got an appointment right away, like for the next day. It took about an hour-ish for oil change and inspection which wasn't too bad. They are quick which is great! However, they do try to GET YOU to add on extra car maintenance which your car doesn't even need. After I said no, she said I should get xyz done soon.. When I got in my car, I noticed that whoever worked in my car didn't clean/properly take off the old inspection sticker since there were residues still on it as well as the reminder sticker too. Both stickers were just slap on my window and weren't properly clean/place on so now I have to clean it. read more

They lured me with a mailed coupon for annual inspection. Then in recorded message noted that safety inspection failed because a technician observed dry rot on my 10/32 tire tread depth tires. When I arrived, they had already 4 new Sumitomo 235/65/17 tires my rim size. Inside was a waiting proposal to mount the tires for "just" $1030.96, which included also 4 wheel alignment(?). Or broken apart $624 for the tires, $96.60 for supplies, $245.00 for labor, $6 HazMat , and finally tax $58.36. You probably already know the scam with the $29.97 PA State and Emission Inspection coupon. It is present on their web site for November, as well. My mileage was way below PA exemption, but they manage to charge me $ 90.70 for the alleged fail inspection, in a hope to get more for Re-inspection. This was my second time going to Steve's garage. I went for an oil change (synthetic) and decided to wait for my car instead of leaving and picking it up later. While I was there, the receptionist was super nice to me. She was very straight forward and blunt with things which I respect because she gets right to the point. We talked about what types of spark plugs were good for my car, how we both like working on our cars and such. Overall the receptionist was really cool. The man that worked on my car was named Jay. He was super sweet and was telling me how I needed to get new tires and that my windshield wipers were worn down (two things that I already knew about). I really appreciated that he pointed these things out to me because some people might not know that they need things replaced. I got a quote for the tires and the receptionist already figured that I would do my windshields myself so we didn't waste any additional time getting a quote for those. Overall, I think the service is straight forward, quick, and still maintains hospitality. The only issue that I could see is their practice of using masks during Covid. While some workers wore masks, others didn't when going into the office. However, I get that it can get hot and definitely hard to breathe in if you're working on cars all day. The workers did cover their face with their shirts when walking into the office/reception room which I appreciated but I think that would be the only thing I could see being an issue for people. Other than that, I would say my visit exceeded my expectations by tenfold. read more

Went to them for an inspection, which they told me to come right in. My car needed 2 front 194 marker bulbs to pass. I had them install them. When I got to Pago find out they charged $40 labor to install 2 front marker bulbs. That is absolutely crazy to install 2 little front bulbs that didn't require dropping the bumper or anything. They sent a mailer out in the mail that advertised safety and emissions inspections for $29.95. What they don't tell you is there's an $8 charge for the sticker and a $1.57 state emissions management fee. I feel that because I used the coupon that they advertised is the reason they charged so much to install the bulbs. I was looking at the reviews and what made me reach out was that it seemed like a smaller family owned business. I called them and Steve the owner was the one who actually picked up the phone which made me feel comfortable. I asked about pricing and made an appt for the next day! I left my car there before work and they had it done before I was done work!! They called me to let me know my car was done and if i needed a ride to come pick it up Which was Really nice. I was pleased by the service and the friendliness of the people who work here. The young lady who works there got my book from my car so I could read while I waited. The mechanic took the time to explain where my wheel lock key looked like and where to find them. I was comfortable in their waiting room and was able yo read while I waited. Twice my girlfriend has left there being told that she needed brake work and other stuff that she would have no way to know if they were not being truthful but both times a second opinion was telling her she didn't need anything at all! You gotta be kidding me. This place has restored my confidence in what a repair shop should be. I've owned cars for over 45 years and believed that the last honest repair shops were long gone. Call me cynical but I have come to expect being ripped off every time I take my cars in for service. I got Steve's mailer and must admit the marketing drew me in. It said all the right things so I figured I'd give it a try. Had my car at a firestone 8 months earlier and they told me I'll need brakes all around for inspection in 8 months. Had to go back to a subaru dealer for a recall four months later who told me I needed back brakes so I had them do the job. Four months later I arranged to have the front brakes done at Steve's. Also asked them to flush the brake fluid, do a four wheel alignment, rotate and balance the tires that Sams club had installed and had been vibrating and a state inspection. I received a call from Steve's within an hour after dropping off the car. They did the state inspection first and told me the following ; The brakes are fine. Said the break fluid looks pristine. Said they felt that an alignment was not needed and that the rotation may take care of the vibration which it did. They did find that one of the lug nuts had been crossed threaded by the Sam's club technician and informed me to take it back to them. I knew Sam's would say they were not responsible so I just told Steve's to replace the lug bolt. They said the job was spec'd out at 2 hours labor which they thought was absurd. They ended up fixing it in 30 minutes. They did recommend replacing a cabin air filter which I stock at home. No high pressure sales and it did need changing. I replaced it when I got home. So in summary, I asked them to do about $700 dollars worth of work and they advised against most, if not all of it. I will need front brakes in the next few months and Steve's will be the place I go. In fact, Steve's my new go to mechanic. He should be yours too. If there is anything I would change about Steve's, it would be their hours. Mon - Fri 8:00 to 5:00. Would love to see Saturday hours but I can't complain. They did not mind staying until 5:10 since that's the earliest I could get back to pick up my car.
