I paid $120 plus tip, so I expected a professional haircut and a much better result. I contacted my stylist, Michael, afterward and asked for a refund because I did not feel comfortable having him cut it again. I did not receive a response to my refund request. Suspicious of both the friendly tone of the person on the other line, the easy availability to book an appointment, and the convenient location, I was pretty nervous walking into the first appointment. I've been burned before. Somewhere along the way, I've been programmed to think scarcity of availability for salons means they're better quality, since the appointments are seemingly more in demand. Thankfully, my nerves were quickly quelled. Emily was so kind, personable, and NORMAL. She didn't make me feel uncomfortable, the salon was welcoming and the color service? Phenomenal. There's a moment during a foil color treatment where you have no idea what you're going to look like in 10 minutes. Not a clue. When my cousin raised concerns about lighting, Anita said she could use daylight and a portable light and would "figure that out." For such an important occasion, my cousin deserved to feel confident that her appointment would be properly prepared. The alternatives offered--a different location (45-1hr away from Groom's home), another date, or the nearly empty salon--did not resolve her concerns or work with her plans. Despite these changes coming from the Anita's end, she repeatedly emphasized that the deposit was nonrefundable. My cousin ultimately declined the appointment and told her to keep the $50. Based on the messages exchanged with my cousin, I found the handling of this situation unprofessional and disappointing. A business's move should not become its clients' last-minute problem.
