For fellow Brevardians, it is a diamond in the rough with its restaurants, boat tours, history, and festivals. Definitely go there during The Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival and Fellsmere Day. Over the past decade, there has been an influx of Mexican culture in the area sprouting up a number of Mexican businesses. This is especially true for groceries and food. Big C's Produce is one of those businesses that does both. Think of it as a starter Thrifty Produce. The grocery part of the business has the necessities needed plus the addition of authentic Mexican art, pottery, jewelry, and clothing. The restaurant part is like a food truck, similar to La Preferida up in Eau Gallie. However, the one part of Big C's I can personally review more so ever is the food. I ordered the enchilada especial and a Jamaica drink (consists of dried hibiscus flowers, water, and sugar). The food was average compared to many other Mexican cuisine I had here in Brevard County. I must stress that doesn't mean it is bad. It was well-prepped and delicious. But if you were to put Big C's food next to the food of other Mexican restaurants that would also be rated as average, in general, most won't be able to tell much difference. Nevertheless, if I am ever in Fellsmere and I am craving Mexican food, I won't hesitate to get it from Big C's Produce if I am passing by. Also on a sidenote, the food averages between $10 and $20. Not bad given the fact the prices on all fast casual, casual, and even fast food restaurants have gone up.

Go up to the food truck and order your food they'll give you a receipt then go inside and pay for the receipt. The produce stand did not have prices easily available to read. I would have purchased some of those nice pineapples they had in stock but there was no price listed so I did want to surprise. All the produce appear to be in very good condition. The food was really good, lady at the food truck was friendly as well. They were pretty quick how about getting the food out. I ordered what it was called enchiladas what I received it's not the typical enchilada you would expect. I enjoyed their take on the enchilada dinner. Lots of meat in there right on top so you can Dive Right In. The price is also very fair.

We bought a couple of pastries that were solid B- category and yet priced at a higher amount than the fantastic bakery near where we live (in San Diego so its not a cheap place). The market is in a very nice location and was easy to get to. Parking was also not a problem during our visit. There was street parking available along with parking at the library and another parking lot next door, so we were able to park and walk over without any difficulty. The waterfront setting makes it a pleasant area to walk around, but the market itself was much smaller than I expected. During our visit, there were only about 15 vendor tents set up, and most of them seemed to be selling clothing, jewelry, crafts, and similar items. Since this is called a farmers market, I expected to find vendors selling fresh produce, plants, locally grown foods, baked goods, or other farm-related products. Unfortunately, I didn't see any of those during our visit. It is certainly possible that the number and types of vendors change from week to week, and perhaps we just happened to visit on a particularly slow day. The vendors who were there had some interesting things to look at, and the location itself was very pleasant, but it simply wasn't what I expected from a farmers market. Overall, if you are already in downtown Fort Pierce, it may be worth walking through to see what is there that day, but I don't think I would make a special trip based on our experience. Enjoy!

Indian River County is world famous for its citrus fruit. Over the next seven years Henry expanded his groves as he grew sweet oranges, grapefruits, and honeybells, a hybrid of grapefruit and tangerines that have a bell shape. In 1970, Henry's son, Henry F. Schacht Jr, launched the gift fruit shipping service that started as a hobby but grew to a popular service that ships thousands of orders of fruit across the country. Today, Schacht Groves is 145 acres and it's still a family operation run by Henry F. Schacht and his son, Louis. In addition to ordering fruit, you can visit the Schacht Groves store and u-pick. There is a scenic 18 acre lake where you can purchase food to feed their friendly turtle and fish population. In the charming, old fashioned store you will find ice cream, fresh squeezed juice, citrus fruit, herbs, vegetables, gift fruit shipments, candy, jams and jellies, local honey, home goods with citrus decorations, candles, clothing, aprons, children's toys, holiday decorations, wild caught seafood, pastries, and so much more. Schacht Groves also offers events that include a Fall Festival in November, a Holiday Festival in December, and grove tours every Monday at 10 AM during season. The coconut layer cake was really calling my name but I stayed on the healthy track and purchased delicious fresh squeezed orange juice, navel oranges, and honeybells. Citrus fruit can help lower your risk of cancer, boost heart health and your immune system, reduces inflammation and the risk of kidney stones to name just a few of its health benefits. I loved everything in this delightful store and my overall visit to Schacht Groves. This is exactly the kind of Old Florida vibe that is right up my alley. Orange groves like this one are disappearing in Florida at an alarming rate. Citrus greening, a bacterial disease has taken out many trees while others were lost to housing developments. We need to support this kind of business whenever we find it. I was glad to find Schact Groves and see that they are still carrying the citrus torch for Florida.

They have SCW's small chocolates from Italy which she was excited to see in the states. The store is on the small side but not difficult to get around. They have on the south wall a decent selection of wines and champagnes. Some pretty high quality labels. The middle of the market has things like glasses, cutting boards, some more wines and various other kitchen items. All looked to be of high quality. The north end of the market has a fridge/freezer section and a meat, cheese and deli counter. They have some meals for 2 advertised on the board above but keep in mind they are frozen, which didn't really work for us. But they do have plant based options which is nice. The employees are busy but are happy to help you if you need anything. Overall a good experience but knowing a little about wine, the prices are a bit more than I'd pay for the wines I saw.
