I had a very good experience with Young's. My oven caught on fire on a Monday night and I needed a new stove ASAP. I called around and ended up at Young's. I had heard conflicting opinions since the closure/reopening but gave them a try. I spoke to a great guy, he sold me a floor model, GE Profile Model # PB911SJSS & had it delivered Wednesday afternoon. The delivery guys couldn't have been nicer! It was pouring rain & they made virtually no mess. They leveled the stove, turned it on, checked all the burners & the oven. I couldn't be happier! Stove & oven work great. read more

Completely unimpressed with the lack of enthusiasm the minute we walked in, looking to purchase a washer and dryer package. Two associates, male and female, sitting at their desks, and we hardly got a hello the minute we walked in. As if that wasn't awkward enough, neither one of them stood up to come and introduce themselves and find out if we needed any assistance. Fine, I'll keep looking, no worries. When I finally ask, from across the room, if I could get some assistance, the gentleman I was "yelling" out to wasn't even the one to stand up and come and help - he sends Carla. I've called them 4 times since, speaking to the both the store and their service department regarding switching the way the dryer door opens. I have yet to receive a call back with any kind of resolution. I now have a kitchen remodeling project under way. There is zero chance of Young's getting my Appliance business. I have purchased every appliance in my home from Young's. However when it comes to repairs do your homework. I need a new handle for my dryer, cost about $70. The part needs be ordered and installed. Young's wanted to check the dryer 1st, apparently to make sure the handle was indeed broken. This analysis was about $85. Completely unnecessary. With labor, install requires 2 screws, Young's reluctantly said about $200. I felt I was being fleeced for cost of the diagnosis or as stated, touching the dryer. read more

I stopped in to inquire about purchasing a wall mounted hood range, dishwasher and microwave that I found on their website, which I mentioned to the reps when I visited the showroom. I've lived in Glen Ellyn for 8 years but never had the chance to check out Young's appliance store. I had a couple of random appliance questions and am also looking to upgrade my Sub-Zero to a newer model so i had a few minutes and walked into the store. The guy working was on the phone. He didn't acknowledge me when I walked in - no hi, hello, thanks for coming, any questions...nothing. After a few minutes, he told me that he'll be with me when he's off the phone. I checked out the store and waited for the guy. I was there about ten minutes. Guy was still on the phone with still no sense of urgency, courtesy or even acknowledgment, and I think he was now just having a personal conversation on the phone. So I just left. No goodbye, thanks for coming in, sorry, etc. from the guy. Won't be giving any business to them. read more

Very happy with the service and personal attention they provide. Young's delivered quickly and could give me good status information on an out of stock washer and dryer whereas other appliance stores could only gave me a wide date range. The item came in faster than what it would have taken elsewhere. The delivery came right on time and the driver/delivery staff was great and navigated down an awkward basement stairwell with no issue. Much prefer working with a down to earth local business like Young's who can provide personal service. read more

If I can save one other customer the experience of dealing with Young's, this post will be worth it. Please whatever you do, don't take the chance in dealing with them. We have had a nightmare of an experience- it's one of the worst retail experiences I've ever had. I'm still waiting on a refund for a dishwasher we ordered 5 months ago! And I've left 3 messages with Guy via phone and my husband has left 2. I've sent 6 text messages to our salesperson, Suzanna. They refuse to call us back or refund our money. I'm learning from other folks in Glen Ellyn, this is their typical story. And this is the least of our issues. We ordered all of the appliances for our entire kitchen through Young's and spent tens of thousands of dollars. They seem great when they are selling to you but as soon as you pay them, don't ever expect to get any customer service after that. It's like a switch is flipped once they get your money. We had appliances come in with defects from the manufacturer-- we couldn't even get Young's to help us fix it. After calling and texting both Suzanna and Guy more than 10 times, I finally had to reach out to the manufacturer's rep myself to get it taken care of. And the manufacture rep is aware of Young's bad reputation in dealing with customers. And that was just for the refrigerator. For the range which we ordered six months before, they would not respond when we asked for updates. Finally called the manufacturer's rep for Viking to find out what was going on and guess what... the range was at Young's!! They didn't even know it! I've always been a big proponent of supporting local business but this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Please do yourself a favor and go to Abt which we should have done from the beginning! There's a reason why they are so big-- they know what they're doing and they know how to treat their customers. We ordered 6 major appliances from Young's in February and they were recently installed. From start to finish the process was easy and pleasant. Suzanna, our salesperson, was terrific and very flexible throughout these past 2 months and even helped us get our rebates. I can't say enough good things about her. Additionally, the 2 installers, Mark and James, did a terrific job and went beyond expectations when installing our appliances. They were professional and clearly knew what they were doing. All in all, Young's was excellent and we would definitely use them again and recommend them highly. We recently moved back into DuPage county. The place we bought needed new appliances. We had purchased from Young's Appliances years ago and were always treated well and the prices were competitive. We purchased all new kitchen appliances as well as a washer dryer from Suzanna. We knew the fridge we wanted would be a close fit. What we didn't know that condo washing closet were limited on what units would fit properly. Suzanna knew all this but still had Young's installer check out the spaces against my measurements and developed backup choices. Everything fits perfectly and we are very happy with our appliances. Decided to buy local. Wish I would have read the reviews prior to doing so. The day of the delivery we did our first load of laundry and woke up in the morning to a laundry room dripping with water. They did not connect the exhaust pipe to the back of the dryer. They also permanently taped the exhaust hose to the discharge sleeve so there was no way to clean out the exhaust. I give them 1 star because they did come back and fix that. We got rid of our last dryer because it was clunking and the repairman said "more to repair than replace". So we replaced. We started our NEW dryer and it sounded similar to the last. We called Young's and we have yet to see a repairman. They forwarded us to Georgia. The dispatcher basically told us that they own Youngs now and we would just have to wait our turn. "They were dealing with the after holiday rush (Labor Day). Give me a break. Customer service is awful. Buy from ABT, we received much better service when we had an issue with our refrigerator. Local is not cutting it with this service! I brought my speed Queen washer for $800 in April of 2021 from Youngs. On the day of delivery they called me at the end of day to tell me That they could not deliver and it would be a few more days before delivery. Unfortunately, l had sold my washer and had to hope the buyer would work with me. After l had my new washer for a month it had problems and it took over 3 weeks for a part to come in. The warranty repair service replaced the part and the repairman barely left and it broke again at that point he ordered several parts, because he actually had not seen this problem before. The parts came in and he replaced everything he thought could be the problem. I am still having problems and l have called Youngs appliance and requested a new replacement washer that was two weeks ago. I have heard nothing. I keep calling and leaving messages. Nothing!!! They don't even have the courtesy to call back. If you are going to purchase an appliance go to ABT. FYI, there is a lemon law for appliances. Federal Magnuson-Moss Law The Magnuson-Moss law covers a variety of products, including washer and dryer units. This is distinct from state lemon laws. What constitutes the definition of "multiple unsuccessful repairs" could vary based on your location. It is best to sit down with your breach-of-warranty attorney to discuss this. Keeping track of the paperwork makes it much easier to pursue a complaint under Magnuson-Moss. read more

Is there no zero star rating? Absolutely horrific ongoing experience with the "new" Young's. Longtime customers who like to buy local when possible; you pay more, but they always had great service. Well, that's changed... Bought a Jenn Air downdraft oven several months ago. Installation was a fiasco to schedule/complete. We noticed immediately that the downdraft was not working properly. Took weeks for anyone to get back to us and come out and check it, with several scheduled appointments just missed without any notice. Guy came out Saturday 11/17 and confirmed the problem; said he'd get back to us on getting a replacement from Jenn Air first thing Monday morning 11/19. Still waiting for any word, on 12/6. Young's apparently refuses to answer phones or texts. Just a horrible experience all the way around. Stay far away from this place. read more

We purchased a dish washer (GE) from Young's in August. It worked twice. Called the store and they sent a repair man out who said we needed a new motor after banging it with a pliers. He ordered the motor, came and replaced it, dishwasher still didn't work. He called headquarters and they told him it needed and new "yoke" - that they had been having issues with this model. Three months later, from date of purchase, it is working. My complaint with Young's is that they don't get back to you. There was no follow up and my calls to them were not returned - even when I called every day for a week! Very poor service and follow through. read more

I bought a Bertazzoni Refrigerator It was very expensive close to 9,000.00 after a extended warranty. The people were very nice in the store, unfortunily the company has problems, I had to have a credit board replaced right away and the one problem is the door handles keep on pulling off and now the circuit board has gone all blue again. The managers is nice but i think that the company gives them a run around on how to fix the problem. The handle pulled off and hit a person in the head and broke skin and bleeding happened. Young's has changed since going under new management. Purchased a defective washing machine and they would not stand behind their product. Sent out a repair person multiple times who did not fix the issue. Would not replace the washer which was under warranty. Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere. Service was Ok, They did fix my oven. BUT service price was high- $89.95 to make the call, but what they don't tell you is that they charge another $65 in labor. the $65 is what I think is unfair. Took awhile to get appointment, and when i spoke to them on the phone, I diagnosed the problem. Sure looks like a heating element. they asked the model #, and i told them. Guy got here on Monday, didn't have the right part. That's ok, i understand it can happen. But then on friday they finally get the part. I would have waited another week, but fortunately they had a cancellation and fit me it. My complaint- $114.95 in labor for less than an hour at my house. Second trip was not my fault. I purchased a suite of GE kitchen appliances through Doug Samuels at Youngs. The reason I chose Youngs was because I had used them in the past first for repairs of appliances not purchased at Youngs and found them to be very responsive, professional and reasonably priced. When our washer and dryer needed to be replaced I went to Young's and was so pleased with the customer service from beginning to end. All questions were answered and scheduling and installation went flawlessly. So of course when we remodeled our kitchen and wished to get all new appliances we went through Youngs because I wanted to deal with a company I trusted. It turned out there was a problem with the GE refrigerator I bought and only GE can service it under warranty. Dealing with GE directly was as you would expect, a challenge. I was in touch with Doug throughout the warranty issues with GE and I cannot tell you how reassured I was when I felt I might not get the service I expected to get from GE. Doug held my hand throughout (it took a week for GE to get out here) and assured me that the problem would be taken care of and he would see to it. This is lowered my stress level considerably knowing that Youngs stands behind its customers and will be your ally when dealing with the big appliance companies. We purchased a washer and dryer from Young's Appliances in August 2015 and paid extra for a 5 year warranty. Well, it's February 2018 and I just called Young's for a repair call which should be covered by warranty (agitator fin on washer broke off). I called on Thursday (Feb 1st) and spoke to Doug who promised to call me right back. He never returned my call. Then on Friday (Feb 2nd) I called back and was informed that Young's was sold and the new owner is NOT servicing any warranty work. The said it was being handled by a company called WarrenTech and he gave me an 800 number. So I called the number he gave me and have been on hold for over an hour. The recording said you could file a claim online, but in order to do so, you have to first set up an account, which I tried to do, but it requires them sending you an email with a password which I still haven't received. When they sold the company I should have received my money back for the warranty since it is useless. AVOID DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM. read more

We just built a new house. We purchased all of our appliances and most of our furniture at Young's. We also do most of our purchasing for our business there. Not sure that will continue after this. Our buying experience was amazing. Chris in the appliance department is wonderful to work with and I can't recommend him enough. Furniture has also been great. However, the service department leaves something to be desired. Our brand new oven was making a loud squealing noise whenever it was heating up. Christ got me in touch with the service department quickly. The technician called and talked with me about what we think is going on and he ordered the part. However, we scheduled for him to come out at 9am and when he didn't show up by 9:20 I texted him to see if he was still coming. He said he wouldn't be out until the afternoon. I explained that I had stayed home from work for the appointment. He then called me and became angry and said he never said 9am and now he wouldn't be here at all today. I asked why as a few minutes ago he said he'd be here in the afternoon. He said, "I don't have time for this," and said I would now have to wait until next week for him to come out. He was yelling, rude, and extremely unprofessional. We called the service manager and she said she could send out a different technician but was unsure when and clearly did not believe us. So buyer beware; buying is the easy part. Just hope you don't ever need service. read more

More or less a glamorized bankruptcy. They said we needed to call our credit card and claim we never received the merchandise. No appliances and the company is back open again, business as usual. This used to a very trustworthy company before they closed/reopened around the beginning of 2017. The "new" Young's Appliances no longer services their own extended warranty (one of the reasons I originally bought from them two years ago) and now direct you a separate warranty company. To make matters worse, the warranty company no longer uses reputable repair companies (for my high end GE appliances, they used to at least offer to use GE Repair). I used to be very loyal to Young's Appliances as they had always been decent with my appliances and the pricing wasn't bad if you took the time to price shop competitors first, plus I enjoy supporting local business. I will NEVER AGAIN shop at Young's and would encourage anyone looking for appliances in the Western Chicago Suburbs to go anywhere else. (Tip: see how low you can get the price at Young's, then make the trip to Abt, show them the price, and they'll beat it.) read more

Paid on a personal credit card, and when it came time for delivery they filed for an Assignment for Benefits, and told me just contact my bank to file fraud. These guys are a joke. We purchased a Bosch dishwasher and a GE oven in 2014 from Mike at Young's who is a great sales guy. Mike was great working around our kitchen remodeling schedule. When we needed service due to a bad drain pump, Ray came over two days ago and did a quick job of replacing the pump. Ray is very personable and considerate of keeping our home clean. This has nothing to do with Young's but I am disappointed in the quality of our Bosch dishwasher. We paid a decent amount for it based on their perceived quality and in our particular case, the quality is not equal to the cost. read more

An order for a Speed Queen washer and dryer was placed on April 1, 2017. Two pedestals were also ordered at the same time. I was told that it would take about two weeks for delivery. Today, it is May 5th and still no word on delivery. Just last week, I called and spoke to Josh the sales manager who stated that one of the pedestals did not arrive and was being shipped . Recently two e-mails were sent to these people with, again, no reply. I requested my $1500 deposit back which will enable me to go back to my former dealer as I would have received my order in two to three days based on my many past experiences with them. I bought a Bosch dishwasher from Young's in June 2017. I thought I would buy local. I should have paid attention to my red flags when I walked in the store. Super, super unhelpful. Barely gave me the time of day. But I knew the model I wanted so I bought it along with the 5 year service plan. In September 2017 I was notified that Young's filed for bankruptcy. I was given the option to file a claim for the $129 I spent on the 5 yr service plan. After several months, I got a check for $39. I guess the rest went to the lawyers. And no 5 yr service contract. A sales person heard me out, then mentioned possible additional charges. Didn't like that. But the installer called me and discussed. Youngs has closed their doors. I just received a notice from the firm handling their case. I'm SOOOO glad I got my money back last month for the refrigerator I ordered that never was delivered. Whew! It's so very difficult to be a small business in today's market with Abt and other big box stores.
