My little sister went for a bit, and now I don't really know any of the younglings (I'm getting old!). However, Laural is the newest teacher for the children's classes along with Tude, whom I have been taught by for the past 17 years. Tude is a wonderful role model to grow up with, someone who is so passionate about dance and who gets you really excited about your numbers. And Laural is the best: the children LOVE her. She really interacts with the kids and makes sure they get the best out of each class. Children's classes are Saturdays, and they are mostly combo classes. Teens: The instructors are really friendly are very helpful. I know several girls who came to the studio when they were 13/14/15 and have advanced so much! Liz, who taught me for the majority of my teenage years, is great. Her warm ups are effective and her class will make you SWEAT! Her warm ups are also to pretty new music which is always fun to do, and often times there are strength training exercises, along with technique building after warm ups. This studio also puts on an AMAZING show. I've been a part of it annually my whole life! (Except last year, because I was in school ... aka depressing). Be aware though that if you're not looking to do a recital and practice the numbers for it from Jan-June, then this is not for you. The main concentration Jan-June is the recital. If you simply want technique and a good work out, then the July-Dec session is what you'll want. Also, the prices are seriously the best around. $60 for one class a month. I doubt you'll find a studio with experienced teachers that cheap. Recital time can get expensive though, but if you want to dance, that's sort of expected (costumes, pictures, new shoes) I grew up at Tude's and am a strong dancer because of it. The environment is family like, and very friendly. The teachers are experienced, encouraging, and great role models for your kids. And the studio also puts on an excellent recital.

Okay, as far as I know, it's the only place that offers adult contemporary. Luckily, it's a great class. Adrienne Foley is a beautiful, relevant, and attentive instructor. I am thrilled to have found her class at Zohar. Kristine Elliott's ballet class was challenging and fun. Unfortunately, I'm usually unavailable during her classes. After Adrienne's class on Mondays, a group of flamencos wait to start their class. It's so great to have a studio nearby with several options of dance styles. The studio is down the long drive off of Middlefield and left, once you get to the parking lot. Parking can get hairy at 6pm (parents picking up their kiddos), but if the large lot fills up, there's plenty of street parking.

I started ballet when I was 19 and in college, and was mostly just doing it for fun. Thanks to Hao Expression, I was able to be a more serious ballet student, improve my strength and technique, and start pointe work at 23, which was a dream that I never thought I'd achieve because many studios don't have pointe as an option for adult students. This studio, and especially Hao and Joyce, improved my dancing so much and gave me a lifelong love of ballet. I came back to update this review because I, a 26 year old hobbyist dancer who didn't grow up dancing, was recently asked by a member of an adult contemporary ballet company if I'd be interested in joining. And I really don't think it would have been possible for me to reach this point in my dancing if not for the wonderful, passionate instruction from the teachers at HaoExpression.
