OVERCHARGED FOR MY MEDICATION then denied it. My medication has cost $120 all year, since January. Last Wednesday, I went to pick it up and the price was $180. When i questioned it, the woman at the counter looked at me dumbfoundedly. I told her it is always $120. Why the increase? She didn't try to trouble shoot or ask if I wanted her to check my insurance. I had her look up last month's price and it was the lower price of $120 but that did not raise any red flags for her. She didn't know, nor did she try to find out why there was a $60 increase. I refused to buy it.
When i arrived home later in the evening, I called the pharmacy to ask about the price and was told at 5:30pm the price was $120. The pharm tech or pharmacist had no idea why the price was $180 at about 12:30pm and now was $120 at 5:30pm.
I stopped in today, Friday, making another trip, to purchase my med at the lower price. I shared my concern with the pharmacist who proceeded to tell me that the price I was claiming it was at 12:30 couldn't have been bkz the med hadn't come in then. I told her i was holding it in my hand in the bag and deciding whether to purchase it at the greatly increased price or go home and call to check the price later.
The pharmacist claimed the med wasn't in until 5:30 on Wednesday and they had called to tell me it was in. I said no, I had called THEM to check the price at 5:30pm but had been in earlier at 12:30 and held the very package in my hand. The pharmacist made absolutely no sense, she was confused and she was hard to understand with her accent. I plan to change pharmacies asap rather than risk being overcharged without explanations.
Oh and the pharmacist told me if I ever was overcharged, the money could be refunded. Who would know if i was overcharged? Who would catch it? read more
