To begin with, I ordered a variety of things for a recent holiday dinner. Having 28 guests, I ordered enough chicken for everyone and our issue really began with the delivery. The delivery came with half the chicken which put me in a panic. I called them and they said when the driver was done his route he would come back and pick up the rest of my order...I was not going to chance that happening so I insisted that it be delivered right away...it was their mistake, put it in a cab and send it. I was put off with the lack of care that the individual had. About an hour later, two more trays of the chicken arrived with the reheating instructions. The staff in the kitchen reheated all of the food as per the instructions and to my horror, when the chicken was served about a 1/3 of it was pink inside and not cooked. One of the guests tried not to alarm me but told everyone sitting near them to check their chicken before eating it. The next morning, I called the office and shared the upset of the night before. Again, I was a bit surprised that I was asked for pictures of the chicken as evidence, but I complied and send pictures of several pieces of the chicken that was not tossed that was undercooked. I was told that they would credit me for the chicken and I would hear back from the chef...have you got the credit? I haven't, nor has there been any follow-up. Very disappointing! Fortunately, living in Toronto, we have options and I can take L-Eat off of my list.

The year before I ordered from Pusateri's - much more expensive and the turkey was inedible...you couldn't chew it. Smokin' Bones was much more reasonable and the staff was lovely to deal with. I picked it up on Christmas Day, still warm. The only thing I'd do differently is I'd pick it up later in the day closer to serving time, which would have saved me refrigerating it...however, that's on me and not them. Wonderful experience!!

We were overwhelmed with calls, texts and emails from our guests about the quality of everything mentioned above. We were required to provide kosher food for certain of our guests and they too were extremely satisfied. If you are planning a large event, David Silber and his wonderful staff will provide you with a worry free event of the highest quality. We feel that we received excellent value. You know you're in for something good when your bus driver hears the name of the restaurant being mentioned in another conversation and says, "You'd better try the roast beef." Despite being situated near the edge of the city, in a part of Brampton that's within spitting distance of Oakville (basically, farmland almost everywhere you turn), there was no shortage of people here. I attended a book launch for Mayor-elect Patrick Brown's new book, and wasn't surprised to find out that the place was booked overcapacity. Walking in an hour before the event, I wasn't entirely surprised to find that the space was already set-up, with cards featuring fancy writing adorning each seat, free pens (FREE PENS!) and massive floral arrangements at each table. It may not be the biggest event hall/wedding space out there, but if my view of the grounds were any indication, this was already an extremely-beautiful and compelling site for a small-scale wedding or social event. Of course, there was food served at the event. While a handful of the back-line cooks looked like they'd rather be somewhere else on the few occasions they came out of the kitchen, that certainly didn't impact the quality of the food. Mini-samosas and the fabled roast beef were on-deck, with a chef cutting off giant strips for hungry guests and offering to make mini-sandwiches with horseradish and other toppings. I admit that I didn't get as full of an experience as some of the other guests, as I had to eat quickly considering the schedule of the event (people were being served just as the presentation on the book began), but I don't hold that against them. They also had what appeared to be an open bar with multiple featured cocktails that night, but I simply settled on some coffee, which was about as ho-hum as it gets. Maybe they could spring for some dark roast next time. I contemplated giving this a 4.5 out of 5 and rounding down, but I felt that the experience was enjoyable enough across the board and the site is so compelling that it deserved the top grade. If you want quality and an intimate space, this is the place for you.

It basically boils down to this: Chef Andrea knows his flavours. You could put a blindfold on me and I'd be able to tell you what flavour the cannoli or cookie is - it's that distinct and powerful and satisfying. My wife and I have had stuff delivered twice now, and both times were a big hit with our tastebuds and tummies. We got: - Cannolis: All assortments of flavours (I liked the ricotta, tiramisu and amarena ones the most). The filling was consistently smooth and creamy, and the shell was perfectly crunchy. - Cookies: Tried the mango cream and coconut ones. But were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. And wow did the flavours burst when you bit into them. - Chocolate Babka: A tad dry on the edges (though the inside was moist) but I loooooooooved how much dark chocolate there was swirling in and around the whole loaf. - Strawberry Tart (mini): Good amount of strawberries, really smooth base cream, and the shell was melt-in-your-mouth awesome. - Bolognese Lasagna and Garlic Bread: The lasagna was super cheesy, which I love. And the garlic bread, despite being delivered, tasted freshly baked and had just the right amount of garlic. Also, at $17 for a small tray of lasagna (good for 2-3 people), it was definitely great value for money. In addition, they gave us a couple of free mini samples to try: - Linzer Torte: Good quality raspberry jam with a nice nutty crust. - Torta Ricotta, Mascarpone and Chocolate Chips: Just the lightness of the cheese mixed with the sweet hits of the chocolate chips was a great balance. As you can see, we've tried quite a lot of the stuff on their menu, and every single one of them was a hit. That's really really hard to do.
