She was so sweet and she made us feel very welcome and so friendly. We chose the bottomless mimosas and three different brunch options. The food was amazing and what we really liked was that unlike some places, when they say bottomless they mean it. Laurie checked on us often which was much appreciated. There were also two Hispanic ladies who were at the front. They were always smiling, sitting customers, cleaning off tables, and offering condiments. It was ordered medium but came out closer to medium-well/well and tasted noticeably burnt. My husband has never sent a steak back before and was actually very hesitant to say anything. Our server was incredibly kind about it, immediately took the steak back, and made us feel completely comfortable bringing it up. Unfortunately, that's when the experience became really uncomfortable. The manager personally brought the steak back out to our table, essentially to show us the steak and explain that, in his opinion, it was medium. We were then asked what we wanted to do. Rather than feeling like our concern was being heard, it felt like we were being challenged for sending back a steak that we simply felt was overcooked. Our entire table became uncomfortable, and there were definitely some awkward looks from surrounding tables. What made it even more frustrating was that, on our walk to the bathroom, we noticed another table had also sent food back. So it was especially uncomfortable to feel as though our table was being treated like we had done something unreasonable by asking for our steak to be cooked to the temperature we ordered. They eventually brought out another steak, but it was well-done on one side and medium-rare on the other. By that point, our table was ready to leave, and the whole situation had put a pretty significant damper on what was supposed to be a fun night with a large group. Afterward, we also noticed that we had been charged for an extra wine glass during happy hour. It was only $5, so we decided it wasn't worth bringing up after an already uncomfortable interaction with management, but unfortunately, it added to the overall impression. We do want to emphasize that the restaurant itself is beautiful, and Tori, our server, and the hosts were genuinely kind and professional. The staff who actually served us did their best to make the evening enjoyable. Unfortunately, the way the steak situation was handled by management turned what should have been a simple issue into a very unpleasant and awkward experience for our entire table. For that reason, despite the positives, we probably won't be returning.

I'm very glad I did, because this turned out to be one of the best wine tasting experiences I've had in town. The service was fast, friendly, and informative, with staff who really knew their wines and took the time to walk me through their options. The atmosphere was super relaxed and welcoming, and the clientele felt like a good mix of locals and visitors, which made for great energy all around. The wine itself was very good and simply enjoyable across the board. Whether you're a seasoned wine lover or just looking to try something new, this is the kind of place that makes it easy to enjoy the experience. Highly recommended, and absolutely a spot I'll return to the next time I'm in Monterey.

We attended the 20th Annual Winemaker's Celebration this year and it was a blast! This event is…read moreput on by Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association and 38 wineries were in attendance. This was a central cost Pinot drinkers dream. You have to go into this event with a plan or you will never be able to hit all the wineries. We focused our pours on primarily Pinot's and still didn't hit all the booths. The people watching at this place was FANTASTIC! That alone was worth the price of admission :-). The ticket includes food and wine. There is a silent auction and you can browse all kinds of lots to pass the time with the wine. Pros: - Lots of fabulous wine! - Yeah to Lugano for serving up a full sized Brat with all the trimmings - I LOVE that place! - The pours were good and if you wanted to revisit, you just had to ask - Price - It was only $35 if you bought tickets in advance and for those of you with NPS, they had an additional $5 off for a $30 ticket! This is all the wine and food, included. - Lots of potties but real sinks outside for washing your hands - Lot of cabbies outside, after the event - they gave out a great little book you could write tasting notes in - They gave you a little loaf of bread with your glass, when you walked in - good idea! Cons: - The lines, EVERYWHERE. You had to wait in long lines for food, longer lines for pours, and a huge line to get in the event. They didn't sign the registration tables very well, so they had to keep coming out to announce other entrances. My advice for next year is to have a separate will-call window. The reason I pay in advance is so I don't have to stand in that huge line with everyone else. Also, better signage for the multiple registration tables would also help. - The parking is a nightmare if you are driving there, so carpool or cab-it. - The space wasn't big enough for how many people showed up. It was so crowded that you were body to body for a great portion of the time. - It was too short. Another hour would have been great! - They ran out of food for some of the vendors about half way in - Some of the vendors were so slow serving the food (Flanagan's - I am talking to you, albeit, the bangers and mash were worth it) Despite the cons, I think many of these things are easily improved and you can work around them so you don't have to fuss with it. Next year, I may just go early and do some shopping before I hit the event. This way I can save some of the hassle. The cons are the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five stars. Also, this place is only "Local Wines," so you won't see any Napa or Sonoma here, like you do with the Monterey Wine Festival.
