After missing 3-4 mos of school he felt lost both academically and socially and didn't want to go to school. The public school would not consider allowing him to repeat the grade. Private schools in our area are impacted and competitive to even get into. I was at a loss until my aunt in Monterey told me about Trinity Christian High School. From the first phone call explaining our situation, to shadow day, to interview, and starting a new school around April - it was all amazing and beyond my expectation. Most importantly my son snapped out of his depressed mood after one shadow day and has been going to school happily for the past year.

I appreciate the school's emphasis on Christian values, which is reflected in the way students are taught to show kindness, respect, and integrity. The atmosphere is caring and supportive, and while Special Education services could be strengthened, the school does well in nurturing students emotionally and socially. Safety is clearly a priority, and family involvement is welcomed and encouraged. Overall, ACS is a warm, faith-centered community where children can learn, feel supported, and grow both academically and spiritually.

School colors are still blue & yellow! The K-8th grade I knew has been shortened to K-5th.... And the schools gotten bigger! The playground equipment all looks decent and as safe as playground equipment can be. BIG Error of Omission on the schools part..... If you're out at the practice field (they are also home to the Toro Bulls Youth Football teams & Cheer squads) there are ZERO garbage cans OR any recycle bins to be found ANYWHERE!? Explains the large amount of garbage clinging to the fence lines around the Entire School! Sad. The kids I know enjoy attending Spreckels. They like their teachers and the teachers I've met all seem to have their act together. The auditorium still looks exactly the same. When setting up for the book fair last year, it gave mii oddly comforting chills to be up on the stage I walked across 22yrs before to get my 8th grade "diploma". Kinda nice to know that some things stay the same- stand up to the test of time! They may not be perfect but I'm proud to be a product of Spreckels Elementary! The excitement with which my child talks about the day's work, and the enthusiasm for learning that has been instilled, are very encouraging. I truly appreciate the Montessori approach, especially the practical life aspect, which has positively shaped my child's day-to-day habits. I'm also grateful for school's effort to educate parents on the Montessori philosophy and methods, as there is a lot that I have been able to incorporate into my home life with positive results for my family. The teachers were continually patient and understanding with my child, who had long stretches of regularly getting upset during the drop-off time. I would highly recommend Auburn's House to any parent!

Our daughter had been in a traditional classroom preschool setting which included circle time, small group work, and play time. What we started to realize is that she was developing a dislike for learning. She would fuss and not want to stay if we ever arrived at school during circle time or small groups. As an educator and PhD candidate studying Education this really bothered me. Knowing about the Montessori method, I began to search for this curriculum as I felt it might be a better fit for my child. I found Auburn's House and have been so pleased. My daughter is excited to go to school again, and loves to tell us everything she is learning! At school, our daughter is taught in a manner that develops the whole-child. This is very important as we want her to be well-rounded and have a variety of interests. In addition, the school supports the emotional and social aspects of the child that is void in most other settings. This gives her the ability to become an independent learner and explore the world around her. The special attention to the emotional and social skills has turned our quiet and somewhat shy child into a confident and independent child. While we could go on for pages about the benefits of this type of education, especially for preschool age children, the best way to get an idea of what an AMAZING place this school is for children is to visit and watch the interactions between the students and the teachers. It is truly something I never could have imagined after my years in education. Ms. Auburn has a gift, and we have been so lucky to be able to reap the benefits of her gift. Each child is an individual and Ms. Auburn appreciates this and helps each individual to grow on his/her own path. This is so important to us as parents, and to me as an educator. I could not have chosen a better place for my child!
