This hospital really needs a total revamp of leadership. My physician left unexpectedly and this is the second physician I have seen that has left. Today they have refused to refill a prescription for a thyroid condition unless I make an appointment for a physical. This is a ten year prescription that has no reason to be denied. The incompetent woman at the front desk refuse to assign me a new physician unless I make an appointment. Why is a receptionist deciding how my medical care will be handled? This hospital is in financial disrepair with a staff that does not follow up on patient care. Stay away from this hospital and its doctors clearly, they are not close to cream of the crop read more

I love this practice and have been going to them for years. Like any busy office, there is sometimes a waiting period. I go first thing in the morning, right after lunch or late in the day and never have a problem at all. They get me right into a room and do vitals but I get to wait for the doctor there, in private, rather than in a waiting room with sneezers. I have never waited more than 10-15 minutes. I have been going to this practice for years. A really long time, probably 20 or so years. I've never been much of a fan because I think they have total disregard for their patients, but it was easy to stay there because I live in town. After my last appointment there, I am done. I had been having some upper abdominal discomfort. And I was concerned so I brought it up during a "routine med check" (ie: a fake appointment which they pretend to care about you and how you're doing on your meds - which you've been taking for YEARS without any problem - in order to make a couple hundred dollars off your insurance company). The NP (I never ever ever get to see a doctor), ordered an upper GI test for me at the hospital. She said it was non invasive and inexpensive and the easiest way to check. They scheduled the appt for me and I had the test done. After the test which was at York Hospital, I was told thta YFP would call me with the results. So I waited for a call. And waited. And waited. AND WAITED. Finally after THREE WEEKS I called them and got, "Oh nobody called you? Your results are fine." Are you people kidding me?! What finally triggered this review was how they jerked my brother around all summer. He's a healthy 30 year old who has been really sick for weeks. He's been in there multiple times trying to figure out what's wrong. They didn't have a clue. After a month of appointments and getting nowhere, my brother went to a specialist who did some routine bloodwork that any family practice could do. My brother has Lyme disease. Not at all uncommon for where we live and not hard to test for. He is completely floored that YFP couldn't figure something so simple out on their own. Our entire family is DONE with them. We are jumping ship to someone who gives a damn, who doesn't make us wait a minimum of 30 minutes for our scheduled appt time (in an empty waiting room with no other patients in sight!), who actually have doctors that take appointments, and who can do their job. This place is ridiculous. I'd rather drive an hour for actual medical care than ever step foot in this place again. read more

I have been going to York Family Practice since 2003. I have found everyone there to be caring and attentive, from the receptionists, to the doctors, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, and RN's. My wife also goes there, and my son and his family went when they lived with us. Our granddaughter was seen there for the first two years of her life. I read two 1-star reviews that surprised me, because the experiences are so different from ours. I underwent extensive tests a few years ago, and my PCP did a great job of guiding me and other doctors through the process. Same day appointments and walk-in appointments are two great features of the practice. They also offer mental health visits as part of their viewing patients holistically. Is it a perfect practice? Of course not. In any medical practice, you have to fend for yourself and make sure follow-up happens every time, and ask questions when you need to. Overall, I highly recommend York Family Practice for all ages. read more

I Can't say enough about this place. My wife and I have been married a few years and she goes here as well as the kids. Continuously this place disregards their patients time. I go to a family practice in the next town over owned by the same hospital. In the 20 years I've gone there I think I've waited more than 10 minutes for my appointment once. At York Family Practice my wife waits and waits and waits. The most recent appointment was 30 minutes late and that was the first appointment of the day. How can that one be late? She has literally waited over an hour for her scheduled appointments on multiple occasions. This place needs a serious review by the hospital that owns it. No one should have to wait longer than 10 minutes for a scheduled appointment. Just because it's health care it doesn't give them the right to have horrible customer service.
