A trooper pulled up on my bumper in the dark with no headlights or siren, then as I notice the car and signal to pull to the next lane, he puts on his lights and sirens to pull me over. At the stop, I guess he didn't expect to see a family in the car so he said "I will give you tickets, but just pay the fee and no points will go to your NY license." Right. Three tickets: speeding, failure to keep right, and careless driving. Fought it in court on 8/31/2021 and I now received, at my previous place of residence, a failure to pay notice with due date 3 weeks ago. The mail says, "If you cannot make this payment by said date to call the office", so I do and get yelled at right off the bat by the receptionist, Patricia just for asking about the mail I received. I tried to calmly explain the situation and all she can scream at me and say is that she has nothing to do with mail or what happened in court and that I need to talk to my lawyer. I am trying to investigate what legal methods I can pursue with this rude and corrupt court and zone.

He doesn't care, and told me to explain to the court. I showed him I got a 1 month infant onboard, I've got no time for this nonesense. Then i plead not guilty on line with all evidence attached the day after the ticket. But they never spend the time to process and mailed me a late fine and warrant threat. keep asking you to pay, or show up in court. Ridiculous! they've got the richest district Alpine, but try their best to con average people.

Pleaded with Ms. Police Officer til I turned green, said I needed to pick up my dog's Rx- before CVS Pharmacy closed. She had no time for sad stories. After that, put ticket in my bag and off I went to the pharmacy. Could've/Should've done a number of things including pay it off and move it along. But I was determined to fight the damn ticket in court. H...o...w...e...v...e...r- few things took a left turn from my part after that: lost my summons, no time to go to court, back-to-back work schedules, delayed my hearing, etcera. But I also didn't want it to affect my driving record or result in a suspended license. In any case, I missed the deadline badly, it cost me and had to take action fast. Front desk officer, directed me to the Traffic Clerk's window and I paid ticket+fees. The clerk was real cordial and didn't feel I was being brushed off- in reality, the sister helped me in every way. In the end, I fessed up and gotta be a bit more light-footed on the gas. Paying that ticket, hurt my pocketbook but listen- I admitted my guilt. And coming here was a breeze.

Parking is available right next door, and not too expensive -then free directly across the street after your are picked. Would be nice if they had more than one parking machine in the courthouse as time may need to extended depending on where you fall in the jury pool. The courts operate on a union schedule, so prompt start at 10:00am, lunch from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, then done promptly at 4:30 each day. Only pick is the truly ho-hum coffee shop in the building, although there is a terrific deli/restaurant around the corner. The civil case was short - only three days, and so I am free for the next 6 years after serving. Wheee!

The people I spoke to were not helpful, they actually asked why I had not looked at the car before today (because pandemic and not driving) and told me I would get another ticket for parking without a permit if I did not get a new permit immediately. The clerk told me she would help me If I got there right away and she did have a packet made for me. We drove to the town clerk and the police officer at the front desk was beyond unhelpful and had no idea I was coming to pick up the permit. He actually told me that even though I was at the police station I would have to call to tell someone else in the building that I lived on the road I was being ticketed on and there was no way I could get a permit today. Fortunately the person responsible for the permit came out at that moment. The officer had no idea what he was doing and had a bad attitude as well. The clerk was helpful and I would give her more stars but the officer was deliberately giving out incorrect information and didn't bother to check to see if the clerk was putting my permit together. I would give him zero stars if I could.

It's not the first time I've been in this court room. However it was the same kind experience then also. The court officers who greet you at the top of the steps is the first sign of ease. They look you in the eye and speak to you not at you. We were asked if the temperature in the court room was ok! I am thankful to all of you the attorney, officers, clerk and of course Judge Cypher who started off with a history quiz and reminded us that the frisbee was invented today! Thank you for making court a pleasant place to be.

Make sure to have your Secure Pass if you're an attorney or you will definitely be going through a major check at the metal detector. They don't have a line to skip it; it's only one entrance & the line goes straight to the security desk but the security personnel were very helpful in making sure I was going to the right place. If you know your case, they'll know where you need to go. When you enter the courtroom, the back is designed like long benches but there are actually separate seats vs. the long seats with no divisions you'd be expecting. I have no clue if films have shot here but if they haven't, it seems like a great small town courtroom location.
