What a scam or thankfully I beat the scam as the ticket I got on central Ave in Yonkers for parking…read morenear a fire hydrant was dismissed by the judge who saw the pics I had printed out and had handy when it was time to show proof .The real hassle is wasting time by coming to Yonkers parking violations bureau in the first place .Place is a dump and some of the lost souls who work here feel the same from facial expressions. Most folks regardless of being in the right or wrong just pay the fine to avoid coming here but in my case I had to show up and fight this bogus ticket . Thank you judge for the common sense.

After that, put ticket in my bag and off I went to the pharmacy. Could've/Should've done a number of things including pay it off and move it along. But I was determined to fight the damn ticket in court. H...o...w...e...v...e...r- few things took a left turn from my part after that: lost my summons, no time to go to court, back-to-back work schedules, delayed my hearing, etcera. But I also didn't want it to affect my driving record or result in a suspended license. In any case, I missed the deadline badly, it cost me and had to take action fast. Front desk officer, directed me to the Traffic Clerk's window and I paid ticket+fees. The clerk was real cordial and didn't feel I was being brushed off- in reality, the sister helped me in every way. In the end, I fessed up and gotta be a bit more light-footed on the gas. Paying that ticket, hurt my pocketbook but listen- I admitted my guilt. And coming here was a breeze.

Parking is available right next door, and not too expensive -then free directly across the street after your are picked. Would be nice if they had more than one parking machine in the courthouse as time may need to extended depending on where you fall in the jury pool. The courts operate on a union schedule, so prompt start at 10:00am, lunch from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, then done promptly at 4:30 each day. Only pick is the truly ho-hum coffee shop in the building, although there is a terrific deli/restaurant around the corner. The civil case was short - only three days, and so I am free for the next 6 years after serving. Wheee!

Today was my day at the Bergen County Courthouse located in Hackensack, where I was able to see its interior beauty. Designed by architect James Reilly Gordon ca. 1911, this courthouse is a fine example of the Beaux Arts style, reflecting monuments of classical Rome and the Italian Renaissance. The building is capped by a copper-coated dome with a cupola and surmounted by a statue. The interior dome of the rotunda area of the courthouse is modeled after the Pantheon in Rome and topped with Tiffany-stained glass. Since this building is rich with history, if you get a chance to be inside, go to the 2nd floor and follow the sign to the rotunda.

I came to the court seeking protection and support, but the lack of enforcement and meaningful intervention has allowed harmful dynamics to continue. It has been emotionally exhausting, financially draining, and deeply discouraging. So you will get a 10:00 am appointment, what they don't…read moretell you is that another 200 people also got the same time. lawyers get called first and then after 1 hour and a half the judge asks all others to line up and see a persecutor. So when you there go and speak to the prosecutor first, this will save you bunch of time. Don't expect to leave before 1pm if you don't have a lawyer

The people I spoke to were not helpful, they actually asked why I had not looked at the car before today (because pandemic and not driving) and told me I would get another ticket for parking without a permit if I did not get a new permit immediately. The clerk told me she would help me If I got there right away and she did have a packet made for me. We drove to the town clerk and the police officer at the front desk was beyond unhelpful and had no idea I was coming to pick up the permit. He actually told me that even though I was at the police station I would have to call to tell someone else in the building that I lived on the road I was being ticketed on and there was no way I could get a permit today. Fortunately the person responsible for the permit came out at that moment. The officer had no idea what he was doing and had a bad attitude as well. The clerk was helpful and I would give her more stars but the officer was deliberately giving out incorrect information and didn't bother to check to see if the clerk was putting my permit together. I would give him zero stars if I could.

Called again, explained the situation and she said well its the right number and transfers again, same message. I call back again, now they don't answer. Great service NY, I expected nothing less. Oh the document submitted to me, not acceptable, its most likely as good as the service I received. What is going on in this building?

We went here to get our marriage license versus going to the Manhattan location due to it's…read moreproximity to Westchester. We got there at 8am on a weekday morning and waited outside in the literally freezing temperature until the building opened it's doors to the public at 8:30am. Like many government buildings, you will get lost trying to find the room that you need. Also be prepared to go through the metal detector and have things confiscated that might be considered a weapon. The wait was short for the marriage bureau since we got there early but just 10 minutes later there was already a line. Service was curt but fine. We're just glad we didn't have to do our ceremony here, it had too much of a DMV feel. Actually a little less romantic than the DMV since they don't make you go through metal detectors when you get your driver's license.
