Yong Da is a Chinese takeaway with a special place in the hearts of my flatmates who order at least once a week from the colourful menu. It offers a range of appetisers, spare ribs, chicken wings, soup, stir fried dishes, curry dishes, green/red Thai curry dishes, sweet and sour dishes, vegetarian dishes, foo yung dishes, chow mein dishes along with English dishes such as sirloin steak and omelettes! They also offer set meals for various numbers of people including a vegetarian one.
The beauty with this takeway is the value for money. You are entitles to a tub of free rice or fish and chip shop-style greasy chips with every main dish which can be upgraded to egg fried rice for 50p extra or chow mein for an additional pound. You are given free prawn crackers for orders over £10, spring rolls AND prawn crackers with orders over £18 and a bottle of coca cola and prawn crackers with orders over £25.
Delivery service is available and the man who delivers generally looks as though he has arrived on foot. The charge is £1, although £2 if over a three mile radius and delivery if free on orders exceeding £10 within a three mile radius. The food isn't amazing but for this sort of good value it's filling and tasty and very student friendly. I'd recommend any of their aubergine dishes. read more
