My wife and I attended Joey Robinson's class and both came away saying it was the best class in recent memory. We don't know Joey. We're both researchers from Boston (neuroscience and public health) who dip in and out of teaching yoga ourselves. Our apt in Vienna is too small to do a practice so we find the most convenient class when we're here. Usually we're barely able to tolerate the egoism, false wisdom, and effervescent banality of most yoga teachers (here or Boston or anywhere really). Joey was different. I appreciated his ability to take care of everyone in the room, from beginners to fellow instructors. That day I needed to let out some pent-up energy. He worked in challenging poses even though this doesn't seem to be what he was necessarily intending at the start of class. He was skilled at spontaneously setting a table at which everyone could eat. Good flow, good alignment, focus on breath, kept people light and engaged. People seem to know all this already as the class was full. I never write these but it's so rare to find a good yoga instructor out there that I felt it was necessary. read more
