Absolutely fantastic space. A well-rounded variety of classes - from sweat-inducing workouts to slow stretch meditations. What really works for me is the wide range of class times, that work nicely with my work schedule and on weekends. I took advantage of the introduction week pass, booking 5 classes in a week, and every single class was worth it, and taught by a knowledgeable, warm, and approachable teacher. The owner fraudulently continued my membership after I canceled, despite evidence that I did cancel and several members of her own staff confirming to her my cancelation. Not only did she try to shift the blame onto me, but she only provided 1/3 of a refund then ignored all further attempts to reason with her. She's been reported to the Consumer General's office and hopefully no one else falls victim to her unethical business practices! Side note: the rest of the staff is lovely and this does not apply to the rest of them. read more

Been enjoying the Yoga Sakti studio for a few months, and their morning classes are now a part of my daily routine. Robyn, Jasmine, Kirsty, and Ali are amazing teachers - all bringing different elements to their classes that provides incredible diversity and challenges. I didn't come here for yoga, even though I wanted to - next time though. But I love everything about Yoga Sakti. I ended up taking two awesome classes: spin and TRX. Both classes were amazing. Drew, the instructor, was friendly, informative, and extremely helpful. The front desk staff is quite knowledgeable and friendly, as well. The studio is great, well-laid out, and very nice. And the classes are reasonably priced. I need them to open one in DC (no, truly, I do - TRX classes are lacking in this area). But I'm so excited to return when I go home again! read more

I've been taking yoga classes on and off for about 4 years now, and finding good teachers that line up with your schedule is why it's always on/off for me. Luckily, I found a great teacher in Erin, and her 6 AM classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays are perfect before work. Her classes seem to work for all levels, and I'm a big fan of Erin's "bus-stop" theory that each pose has many "bus stops" and you can get off where you need to depending on your level of practice. The class is very "alignment based" and she's careful to distinguish the subtleties of the poses in ways that can push anyone's abilities. I wish there were more early morning classes like this on the north shore for us workers who can't take a luxurious 9 o'clock class and then go out to brunch, or whatever those people do. :) read more

I've been a client here for a little over 2 years, and have mostly positive things to say with a couple small negatives. Positives: - variety of class offerings - class timing is convenient - teachers have been (for the most part) very friendly and good at what they do - large yoga studio allowing for some room between mats (rather than right on top of each other) Negatives: - attended a spin/trx class, I was new to trx and the instructor made me feel like I was impeding on the rest of the class (side note - I was a college athlete and have done many different types of workouts, I'm not new to resistance training. Obviously no way for her to know that, but I did feel singled out, perhaps unnecessarily) - spin music (2 separate instructors) was a little too slow / not upbeat for high-intensity spinning Pricing is what you'd expect with this type of studio. Overall, I am SO glad to have this studio in my neighborhood. I look forward to trying their Barre classes and possibly Surf Fit as well! read more

I can not believe this used to be the bay bridge- a decrepit biker bar! Yoga Sakti is a beautiful yoga & TRX studio. It is huge inside, they have locker rooms with showers which is very rare for yoga studios around here. I have been coming here since February and I love this place. I started off trying spin and now I am addicted to basically all of the classes offered here and have ended up buying a monthly pass. The facilities are super nice and the instructors are amazing. I highly recommend Yoga with Kat or Marc. They will have you trying things you never thought you could do and succeeding! Amy and Nadine are fantastic for Spin. Their enthusiasm and endurance makes you want to push that much harder. I try to make their classes as much as possible given my schedule when I know they are teaching. You will be dripping with sweat from the workout these gals put you through! TRX is probably the type of class I attend the most and I love early morning classes with Jen P - she is phenomenal! She is always mixing up what you do in class and gives you an overall body workout that will leave you super sweaty and feeling amazing at the end of class! I have noticed over the last few months they seem to be increasing the variety of classes and also adding more times. One of the new ones that seems to be gaining popularity are the rip classes. I hope to try one myself soon to see what all the buzz is about! I totally recommend Yoga Sakti to anyone looking for a great studio with superior instructors! read more

This studio is amazing. It has a clean and welcoming environment. There are a wide variety of classes and every instructor ive taken a class with has been excellent! My favorite instructor is Jenn Parisella. I take her boot camp, circuit training and Spin/build classes. Her classes are 100% and perfect for any level of fitness. I've been coming to this studio regularly for about a year and a half to do hot yoga and have been happy with the space and the teachers, who are all friendly and invested in offering good classes. Hot yoga classes at this studio typically run 75 minutes at a temperature of 95 degrees, which is noticeably warm but still about ten degrees cooler than Bikram Yoga studios. I did not have much of a background in yoga, so I started with no knowledge and little flexibility, but the classes are taught for people at any level of ability, because the advanced poses have easier variations that can be practiced to lay a foundation for doing the advanced poses. The studio is not a judgmental place--people are encouraged to do what they can do safely and to take satisfaction from their individual effort and progress. Since I began taking yoga here about twice a week, I've lost weight and gained strength, flexibility, and balance. I feel better on a daily basis, and my back in particular has benefited from the intensive work on my core. People tell me I look better, and I know I feel better. If I were able, I'd come more often, but I've gained a lot from only two classes a week. Most of the yoga classes that the studio offers are not hot yoga. I haven't taken many of those because I prefer to do yoga in a heated studio, which relaxes my muscles and ligaments, makes it easier for me to stretch and, over time, has made me more flexible. Nonetheless, many other types of yoga classes are popular here and, I'm sure, are taught at the same high standard. The studio also offers TRX and spinning classes. I've taken TRX a couple of times here but it's more stressful on the joints than what I'm looking for. That being said, I thought the classes were great exercise and taught well, and some people come to this studio primarily for TRX and/or spinning. Some reviewers have mentioned problems with customer service, but I have not had anything but positive experiences with the staff here. I first came here when I purchased a Groupon for 10 or 12 classes in summer 2013, and I had no problems redeeming it. The studio is only a few years old, so perhaps there were some initial kinks in customer service that the studio has since fixed. My only complaint about the studio, and it's a small quibble, is that the men's locker room has such a small changing area that it can be crowded before and after class. The women's locker room is much larger, I'm told, which makes sense, because I'd estimate that about 75% of the clients here are female. As for the studio space for the yoga classes, it's an elegant room with hardwood floors and soft lighting. For better or for worse, there are no mirrors in the studio. The hot yoga classes I attend have a nice mix of ages, although the youngest participants are typically 18 or older, I'd estimate. I never see children. Perhaps there is a minimum age requirement for these classes? Like all yoga studios, Yoga Sakti is not a cheap way to exercise, unless you have an introductory offer or Groupon. Nonetheless, if you can afford the price and enjoy the practice of yoga, this is an excellent option on the North Shore. read more

This place. So the parking lot is literally terrible and it's VERY pretentious inside. I found the people at the front desk to. E quite rude and unhelpful. People rave about the yoga classes but I honestly didn't find them to be that great of a workout. I did the new client special ($49 for the month) and went to several yoga classes. I felt like there was a lot of talking and not that much actual yoga flowing. However, I was really impressed with the spin classes that I went to. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to go to any of the boot camp style classes so I can't speak to those but I would say the spin classes are definitely worth checking out. read more

Love this place. Immaculate studio with gorgeous lighting and a big focal wall -- it's so easy to find your flow here. Great teachers; wonderfully welcoming front desk; generous new student specials; clean changing area and bathroom. Can't say a bad thing about yoga at sakti! I took a class here and I probably won't be back. I thought the vinyasa class was way too easy - but my major beef with this studio is that they don't offer filtered water. So if you don't have a full water bottle with you, you're forced to buy their bottled water. For me this isn't about being forced to spend a couple bucks (which is ridiculous on its own) - I don't want to buy a plastic bottle. Plastic bottles are wreaking havoc on the environment, I have my refillable glass bottle for a reason, but there's no where to refill it in this studio, at least not that I could find. I'm freaking sick of these rinky dink studios that don't have a simple water fountain. It's unprofessional, not eco-friendly, and as a customer it makes you feel like the owners are just trying to make an extra buck off you because they know you'll need water for your workout. Get with the times, dudes read more

Post from my wife... Okay, so the TRX classes are phenomenal, and the TRX teachers are the best. I am a runner, a yogi, Jillian Michaels at home workout gal. However, TRX is the best workout I have ver done. TRX is the studio's only positive. As a customer below noted, customer service is awful! I had several friends and family purchase me gift cards for my birthday. On the gift cards it only said how many classes were purchased, THere was no expiration date listed. After registering these with their online class regstration system I found out they expire 90 days from purchase. With 2 kids and a full time job there was no way I would make it to 30 classes in 3 months! When I went to my next class I spoke to a woman at the desk. She reported that she would speak with the owner and follow up after class. She did not follow up. I sought her out. She reported that the owner had left before she could talk to her about it. She took my name and number and promised to get back to me. That was over a month ago. No word! And the kicker, one friend ordered over the phone so she never saw a poster with this information about an expiration nor did the person on the phone tell her about this! I think that's illegal. This past weekend I had an issue with their late cancellation policy. You must cancel 24 hours prior to class to avoid being charged, fair enough! Less than 24 hours before class I received an email saying the teacher I was assigned to take class with the next morning cancelled, and he would be replaced with another instructor. I cancelled (late) given that I was not a huge fan of the other teachers, and they docked me a class. When I called to be refunded, as they were not providing me with the service I purchased the women was irritated, didn't understand what I was saying and plain out defensive. She explained, "it's really sad that people wait so long to cancel and people on the wait list can't go to class." I explained that I was just trying to offer constructive criticism because I love the TRX classes. She told me I was making thing more complicated, and she would just issue me the refund (that was also after I referenced my friend who was refunded earlier in the day for the same class cancellation). I have also taken one yoga class at this studio. It was not challenging which in itself would not warrant a bade review. However, the acoustics in the room were so bad I couldn't hear a word the instructor said. The studio looks amazing with candles, budhas and inspirational words. But if you can't hear the directions what good is all that?! Yoga Sakti has amazing potential, amazing teachers. But if they don;t start taking care of their customers they won't last a whole lot longer! read more

Yoga Sakti has some great classes and even better instructors, which is the only reason I keep going back. Otherwise, the class times are often not convenient or at strange times, no one answers the phone, no one returns messages or emails and they have overall crappy customer service, which is what happens when you try to save a buck by making your instructors double as receptionists. With so many yoga studios out there competing for the same dollar, I would think that this would be more of a priority. read more

Purchased a voucher through Amazon Local and turns out they only honor this for "new clients." Considering I've only taken a handful of classes, extremely poor customer service to not honor a voucher for someone who has never been a true "client." Beautiful yoga studio but the customer service is horrible. Excellent job of losing a potentially full time and loyal client who enjoys yoga several times a week. I visit the area 2x a year because my husband's family lives here, and out of all the studios in the area, I like Yoga Sakti the best. I live on the west coast where there are TONS of yoga studios and very talented instructors- so I'm very lucky, but also very lucky because this studio has talented, experienced teachers as well- the style is slightly different from what I'm used to. It seems like here it is either full on power vinyasa Baptiste style, or alignment based Anusara yoga with *interesting* alignment cues spoken by teachers with a lot of character and presence. It's definitely a more interactive experience than west coast yoga- with the students here talking before class, texting/emailing on their cell phones on their mats (WHAT!??) and then clapping afterwards rather than silently bowing and walking out all stoic like west coast yogis. This studio seems REALLY friendly for beginners, I noticed a lot of newer yoga students who were welcomed and given extra attention by the teachers, and that is something unfortunately I don't see much of back home, it's a little more elitist and cliquey- sadly. My favorite teacher here is Andrea Beane- who teaches hot power yoga several times a week. I don't know if it's my ego talking or what, but she teaches class like I teach classes, and it's nice to practice the asanas at the tempo and sequence that I teach my students in. It's definitely an intense class- and HOT at 95 degrees, but you feel amazing afterwards, getting up from lying in a pool of your own sweat and out into the world attempting to live your yoga off the mat. I also like Marc St. Pierre, and Kat Mansfield- they seem to be anusara influenced which is definitely *different* and I was very resistant to the style at first, but they say whatever you resist is what you really need....so I guess hanging out in half moon til my calf cramps up or shaking in hanumanasana on blocks is what I need sometimes. The studio is beautiful, with skylights and plenty of ventilation in the main room, spacious and CLEAN locker rooms with changing areas and showers, and the front desk person is always pleasant. Their class pricing is normal and expected, although it would be good to have a few more "community" priced classes on the schedule at less popular times just so theres more options. It would also be nice to have a TRUE vinyasa class that is not anusara or heated power on the schedule, as the class I took that was called vinyasa was definitely not a flowing, precisely sequenced class. great studio! read more

I purchased a voucher on Amazon Local recently, and I must say I am very impressed. I feel so fancy stepping into this studio, it will be a pity when my pass runs out and I will only be able to treat myself to the occasionally yoga. The beginner class was very rudimentary, but it was a good intro to the studio. Vinyasa/restorative is a fantastic way to end a stressful Monday, think lavender eye masks and head massager! I've yet to try the hot yoga (that will be a big leap for me) but if it is anything like the other classes, I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience. I have no comments on the TRX, which scares the pants off of me, but in terms of yoga, this place is a winner! read more

Unexpectedly took a job nearby and have been traveling back and forth to Salem weekly. Found this studio through online search for high intensity training classes, and gave the morning TRX/Interval and Outdoor Boot Camp classes a try. Very positive experiences with the overall programming and abiltiy to dial the intensity to your own level but in a group setting. More importantly, have been incredibly impressed by the overall friendliness of the instructors and clients, and resulting sense of community, at least in the morning classes. Perhaps I appreciate this more because I am traveling solo on business, but the place has a great vibe. While I dont post many reviews, I thought this was worth some positive feedback! read more

The owner and manager work hard to ensure that the environment is clean and inviting. The classes are challenging, but can be modified if need be. Love this studio! I moved to Beverly from Brookline a few years ago. I was anxious about finding a new studio to call home. I tied several in the area ( Manchester, Hamilton, and Salem) Sakti was by far the best with experienced yoga teachers and athletic instructors. The yoga studio is enormous and you will NEVER be touching your neighbor.. the classes are diverse and great for advanced as well as awesome beginner classes (especially on Sundays!!) But they also have this other studio for TRX which is just coming to the East Coast. Between the two you really dont need to go anywhere else!! Just buy the monthly pass and alternate yoga and TRX. After a fantastic first visit to Yoga Sakti, I feel compelled to write a review, something that I don't often do. First, I called ahead to confirm that I could use my Groupon, and the receptionist was super helpful and got me registered over the phone. I arrived and the same receptionist signed me right in, got me a key to a locker, and showed me around. She was super helpful and also personable. The locker room was extremely clean and tastefully decorated. The one weird thing, is there is no water fountain. I filled my bottle in a sink though, no prob. The water tasted better than the fountain water at Planet Fitness, anyway. I participated in spin with Drew. He greeted me in a friendly manner when I entered class and made sure I was all set on adjusting my bike, as it'd been probably over a year since I'd taken spin. The class was invigorating under the energetic instruction of Drew, who also grabbed much-needed towels for everyone! The music played during class had a great beat for spin, and it was just the right volume, not ear-piercingly loud like at some studios. Also, I just have to say the fan in the room was a lifesaver, so refreshing! I can't wait to go back! I should also note that my classmates as well as other people at the studio were friendly and pleasant, and though I was new and wearing my odds and ends running clothes, I didn't feel judged like I would at some studios. So thrilled to have found this gem! Now, if only I could afford the unlimited monthly pass! read more
