This time I was visiting on Saturday and gladly it was open! The menu is exciting, but unfortunately, not all dishes can be made gluten free. I just wanted something simple, so I went with a slice of gluten free toast and a flat white. The thick toast was amazing and so was the homemade jam that came with it. My husband and son enjoyed their meals too (although they didn't have a kid's menu). I'd definitely come here again, but I do think the prices are very steep.

Looking for a place for lunch and this seemed popular so we decided to give it a try. Had both of…read morethe specials for the day, the veggie and rice bowl and the hash bowl. Both were 10/10. The veggie bowl had loads of delicious miso glazed eggplant, and the hash bowl had delicious potatoes and ham. I also had the turmeric latte, 7/10. I don't know why, but I expected it to have coffee as well so when it was just turmeric and almond milk it felt a little bland. The cinnamon and flowers were a nice touch. I should've added a shot of espresso. The woman taking my order was great though and made sure to ask if I was ok with regular milk, which made me decide to choose almond instead. Service was efficient and it was a nice day to have lunch outside under a tree. Glad we stopped by, I would definitely come back again.

In addition, they have a sit down restaurant. I saw a porchetta on a rotisserie above an open fire in the back. The staff is super nice, and their baristas make a mean flat white or long black. In addition to the tart, we had a beef pie and bacon quiche. I forgot the individual cost of each item. However, the total was $50 AUD inc the coffees. The tart was massive, and it tasted so good. The custard was nice & creamy and that crust. Likewise, the quiche and pie had nice crusts, and were full of fillings. No lack of meat here. Regarding the ambiance, its open air and you can order casual or sit down. There were a lot of people mid-morning on a Sun. TBD was a very pleasant way to have a first meal of the day. Honestly, I wasn't sure what they could offer me I could find some place else. Leaf & Grain is not huge, there aren't a great deal of seats, and the place next door is well known. What I was surprised by was the quality of food produced and the raw authenticity it seems to be made with. The people that work there have a passion for food that magically translates into taste. I went for the bacon and egg roll. It was on the top of their blackboard and promised things I've never tried -- maple bacon, beetroot relish. What a treat! The food is served in unpretentious take-away boxes that matches the nonchalant vibe of the place. It's just raw and authentic, the Byron way. The coffee is also decent. It's worth popping in and trying their food. Small, intimate, just don't take your whole family because they probably won't all fit.
