I visited this Yo Sushi! during January to take advantage of the month long blue Monday offer. It was my first visit to the chain and I was unsure what to expect. I've always found the idea a little anxiety inducing, though I can't fully articulate why.
Our service upon arrival was pretty slow. We weren't greeted, seated or even acknowledged for at least a few minutes, despite there being plenty of staff nearby. Though in all fairness there were rather more customers that I'd have expected for a Wednesday night mid-January. We were eventually seated, though despite explaining it was our first visit we weren't really explained how it all works. Anyhow, we figured to ask for the hot things and take the cold from the belt. Sorted.
The £2.70 per plate offer was fantastic value for money! The duck & chicken gyoza were delicious and the chicken katsu was also tasty, though a little over cooked. I'm allergic to fish but I found plenty to eat! My young son also enjoyed tucking in to some salmon maki as well as the fresh fruit and of course the custard dorayaki.
That said, having checked out their standard prices, for what we ordered and the portion sizes combined with the initial service impressions I think I'd probably stick to visiting on Monday rather than paying the full prices. I have given 3 stars based on the full menu prices, based on the blue Monday offer I'd have given 4 :-) read more
