Recently became a parent at GNS via the Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP)…read more I had many reasons to be nervous about my kiddo starting preschool - pretty big aversion to playing with other children, having essentially no daycare/nanny experience, loud "no school!" when the idea was brought up periodically in attempts to make it less foreign, being a picky eater, etc. True story - when we did a classroom visit, where families can come and see the school, be in the classrooms, and meet the teachers, my kiddo said "why do I like school?" 5 minutes into it and the rest is history (currently in the making). The thought "oh, I can leave my kiddo here" came to me pretty unexpectedly and clearly during that visit, and I legit got pretty emotional. The other reviews ring true. If GNS interests you even a little bit, I highly recommend that you check it out for yourself.

Our daughter is in her second year at Garden Nursery School and it has been such a wonderful and…read moresupportive first school experience for her. We love that it is play-based and emphasizes socio-emotional learning, and the community that is created through the cooperative structure. It is such a welcoming environment with teachers and a director that truly appreciate the uniqueness of each child. Being new to the area, we have appreciated the chance to get to know the other families beyond a hello at dropoff. Our daughter has so much fun with all the art projects, and being able to run around with her friends in the garden, and as parents, it has been the perfect opportunity to have a part in sharing the experience with her. We love GNS!

Our two-year-old daughter wakes up every day asking if she can go play at Monique's house. We really appreciate the open concept and independent learning that's encouraged at One Childhood- plus the outdoor space (including hobbit hole! and water tables) is hard to beat. The hours are great (7:30-5:30) and Monique and Howie are super flexible. Did I mention they have a chameleon the kids love? Monique and Howie also run a myriad of cultural activities for every holiday ranging from Christmas to Day of the Dead and Dwali. I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on the FOOD- it's unbelievable. I review the menus daily and while it all sounds good on paper, it looks and smells AMAZING! If you're considering sending your child here, I'd encourage you to pull the trigger- you won't regret it!

He took to Monique and Howie right away. When he first started going here he was still in diapers and when we were ready to potty train Monique was right on board and we were in undies in no time! I love that all of the meals are freshly prepared, lots of fruits and veggies. When my first started he was a picky 2 year old with limited foods he would eat. Once I changed up the meal time routine at home Monique followed suit at school and now he eats so many foods and things he would never touch before. I love that she sends pictures and daily/weekly updates on how he is doing. They do lots of outdoor play and do awesome field trips like the museum of science and even the beach! I plan to have my son here until he transitions to either preschool or kindergarten. I only wish I had found this daycare sooner!! All photos I attached are photos of my son at One Childhood ELC and some of the fun activities they do.
