It seems a little pricey but worth every cent. He is very skilled in his craft and confident in his work. I feel more at ease in his office getting a root canal than I do just going into the dentist for a cleaning! The Chicago Heights office is beautiful and very state of the art with a relaxing feel. My son has a rare genetic dental issue, and Dr. Laura took it upon herself to do a ton of research and training on his diagnosis in order to help him. During the appointment, she briefly pointed to something on my X-rays but never clearly explained what she saw, what the diagnosis was, or what treatment she was recommending. She began numbing my mouth and proceeded with significant drilling without first walking me through the procedure. When she finished, I had to ask, "Did you fill a cavity?" She simply answered, "Yeah," and continued talking about unrelated things. I left the appointment without a clear understanding of what had been found or exactly what had been done. Once the numbness wore off, the tooth felt rough and uneven, with something hanging from the bottom that I could feel with my tongue. I returned to my regular dentist. He smoothed and corrected the area. He told me that he had not seen a cavity on his recent X-rays, although he acknowledged that it was possible she found something that had not been visible before. He also told me the new pain could have resulted from the drilling and that I might eventually need a root canal if it did not resolve. It has now been 6months, and the tooth is still bothering me. I had never experienced pain in that tooth before this appointment. The dentist also recommended crowns for all of my teeth and submitted an estimate to my insurance, which later appeared on my Explanation of Benefits. I was never given a clear explanation for why such extensive treatment was necessary, especially since I had no pain, visible damage, loose teeth, or other known problems. I cannot speak to her motives, but I can speak to my experience. I did not feel properly informed, I did not feel included in decisions about my treatment, and I am still dealing with pain that began after the procedure. I do not recommend this dentist.
