I put in a order on 5/16/18 for two home VHS Tapes to be transferred to DVD. I was informed that my order would take 14 to 17 days. That plenty time to get the disks to my son & his 3 sons in Louisiana for father's Day (6/17/2018). I can't believe Yes Video & Costco could have such a poor regard of a customer. It seems to me Yes Video is keeping their process limited to their employees, and leaving the end user depending on Costco's staff to keep customers at bay while Yes Video drag their feet. read more

I submitted 80 MiniDV tapes ( huge mistake; should have tested 1 or 2 first) to local Costco for transfer to DVD and Google Photos. The Costco photo center person assured me the resolution of the DVD and the online video would be as good as the 1080i (1920x1080 ) I had. After receiving the videos, I had several issues and am very disappointed having paid nearly $1000. First, the DVD and the online Google Photo's copy are at VGA ( 655x480). This is absolutely unacceptable, basic mac or windows software capture MiniDVs at full resolution. Why should I pay $25 per tape to get a lower quality transfer? Second, several videos did not have any audio. Third, more than half of the tapes about 30 of them were converted into a 4:3 aspect ratio from the original 16:9. The result, disproportionate images with faces looking oval shaped etc. Fourth, there has been cuts and blackouts in at least one third of the videos that do not exist in the original tape. I am currently in the process of requesting full refund and plan to update this shortly. read more

Johnny was kind and understanding - probably not easy to do when dealing with a very upset customer. The quality of the dvds are bad and the videos are mixed together. I also could not watch them after I downloaded from their website. I paid alot of money., and now will probably have to pay more to have someone else do them. read more

Beware Using Yesvideo: I submitted two orders to transfer tapes to digital media through costco.com. They damaged one of the tapes in the first order. For the second order, they damaged 2 feet of two tapes. The content of great sentimental value is lost forever. read more

So sad. Took my videos to COSTCO (who doesn't trust COSTCO) I finally got my transfers back after 3 weeks. The videos were new and had never been played. I made copies and kept them as a reference and safety backups. When I put the DVD in the play boy was I surprised! What the hell happened?? All the colors were now just black and white with faint noir colors here and there. I pulled out a VCR and nope the tapes are great... Personally, it looks like they just put the tape in a played with dirty heads and filmed it. There are tracking lines, video drop out and even fast forward transfer points. I am pissed a that COSTCO would use such a shoddy company. Just to give you some background on me. I grew up in TV stations behind the scenes. Also that video you watch on your lap top and phone are from the chips and KODAK that were developed at a company I introduced to the world in 1997... Additionally, if you're using a Mac (you know the industry standard) good luck... Update: Why did you remover your response Alex B? I was going to say I contacted them and they were helpful and will try to resolve the issue. What my takeaway was is they are strictly a copying service. I.e. They do no color balancing etc. that's what happens with transfers you need to adjust input/output balance... I suggested they tell people that upfront and not set expectations.... They are horrible. Have had issues from the minute I dropped my wedding video off. Then FINALLY got an email saying they had received it & it was processing & to allow 3-4 weeks to receive it back. 3 days later I get a second email saying it's ready to be picked up at Walmart & shows the order has been canceled. Walmart employees know NOTHING about Yesvideo & are absolutely no help. So my video is probably gone forever. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

'Terrible' doesn't properly describe this company. I paid for my super 8 film transfer to DVD disk at Walmart. Opened the package, no disk inside, but instructions to get it from the 'cloud.' Activation code didn't work. Contacted customer service twice. The first told me to wait 1 to 7 day for the code to work. The 2nd said I would have to wait up to 17 days!!! I already paid for the product and can't view it for 17 days. What kind of a company is this? I would think it's a scam if it wasn't for Walmart using them as a vendor. read more

YESVIDEO I wanted to transfer super 8 film onto dvd for my Dad & Mom for Christmas. Sent them to Yesvideo via Costco. Yesvideo customer service is horrible. I have been told three times that I will receive a call back. Still have not and my first call was on December 15. I received my super 8 films back from Costco in a taped box and when I got it home and opened it I was so upset. Inside the box I had a quality alert notice with 4 different things checked, the film was not on the original reels and they did not put them in their original boxes. I have no way of telling which one goes into which box. When I called yesvideo they said that is how they operate. This works best for those that want convenience, low cost, or convenience. You'll pay for it though. Recently submitted two tapes via Costco. I asked the clerk about digital copies, as I wanted to add online (youtube and facebook). He assured me that I could email myself a copy and share online. Three weeks later I received two dvds and directions to access the digital copy. Disappointed is all I can say, since the transfer quality is lacking. It looks worse than the original and there are sections of tracking lines and static not on the original. There are also 55+ chapters on a 30 minute film. The worst part is the true lack of a digital copy. It's only good for 90 days, after which I have to "resubmit the dvd", assuming this means I have to pay a fee, and the new digital copy will now be third generation. Emailing someone a link pushes them to the yesvideo page, where they have to create an account. But it's pointless, as it's only good for 90 fays (which means the video posted to facebook wil disappear in just three months). Time they move forward, this policy smacks of 2004. I would even pay a bit extra for a true digital copy, but it's not an option. read more

I cannot even give them 1 star. They lost 19 videos that were supposed to be uploaded to their server. I keep calling and calling and get the run around. They tell me that "London" is in charge and will get back to me. He never does. Takes forever to get through to customer service and they never call back. Emails are not returned. I did this thru Costco and one of the reasons I chose them was the backup to the cloud, supposedly accessible anywhere, and now it is all gone. I wish I could have left 0 stars for this company. Horrible customer service and even worse corporate management. I had my videos saved from my child hood from vhs tapes to online sharing. My videos were deleted completely. Upon calling the company, they told me that they sent emails notifying me about the change. I received NO emails ( I checked spam/junk mail to make sure). They proceeded to tell me that there was nothing they can do. Do these people have no souls? The 2 people on the phone didn't care about what had happened and kept blaming me. Worst service. I will explain so you understand why I think at every level this company is worthless! Went to Costco with 2 old vhs.....that I knew would fit on 1 tape (they allow 2 tapes as long as its less then 2hrs). I eventually pick them up and Costco says I overran and needed to pay for 2 tapes...ok maybe I was wrong. I play part of the video tapes to see "something was on them" and then throw out the old vhs finallly. As I'm later uploading on google I notice sections of 1 tape that are clearly not mine. Ah no wonder I get charged for 2 tapes this company put something else on it that wasnt mine. Back to Costco they send it back to see if they can remove that and then reimburse for the extra tape I paid for. Get a call from Yes Video saying without the original video they can't take the other stuff off and can't reimburse me to go back to Costco. Bottomline they wouldn't believe me they put totally unrelated media on my tape and they wouldn't cop to it. It wasn't the money but the principle. They said sorry and that was that.....is that customer service...is that how to try a screw up on their part of valued family movies. DONT USE THIS COMPANY YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WITH MASS PRODUCTION. PAY A LITTLE MORE AND USE A SMALL OUTFIT! I recommend NOT USING yes video. I placed an order through COSTCO to have three 400 foot reels of 8mm film transferred to DVD. Once this order was complete, I picked up the order at COSTCO and found my METAL film reels were missing. The film had been transferred to some very flimsy plastic reels that did not even fit my standard 8mm projector. After contacting yes video, I was told "no problem, we have plenty of metal reels". It's easy to see why they have plenty of metal reels!. Some weeks later I was informed my reels were ready to be picked up at COSTCO. What I got was three plastic film containers, but no metal reels. I once again contacted yes video via email, offering to send them a photo of a metal 8mm film reel. Never heard back from them, Guess I need to replace them at my own expense. By the way, the dvd was so blurry I returned it to COSTCO for a refund. read more

So many positive things to say about my YesVideo experience. I came across YesVideo after googling so many different similar services, both locally and nationally. First order was to digitize 11 8mm video home movies, came out really far better than I'd expected. Went ahead and did the same with 500+ slides, and same positive experience. YesVideo knows what they're doing, has the best pricing I'd found, and I really appreciated the ease of downloading the final product. They also did an excellent job of boxing and returning the original media to me. I would definitely recommend them again. read more

Do NOT use this company for digital conversion. I had them transfer videos (VHS) for me. They converted the tapes and put the digital content in the cloud BUT at the time, the only way to access them was with their apps (creating a nice closed ecosystem). Well that was in 2017. Management at the company made a decision to begin deleting content in their cloud and here's the kicker, they determined that if you had not accessed the content within a year, yours was stale account and the content would be deleted WITHOUT making ANY attempt to notify you. It took several emails to their 'customer service' to get the truth about this deletion process. Initially they (customer service) simply stated 'we sent emails to everyone to notify them about deletion' which is clearly not true. They sent emails only to a subset of their past customers. Why they did that is not clear, but I would guess it involves money. This is a pretty bad company - providing cloud storage for 'memories' which they then choose to delete without notifying you. I tried out YesVideo transfer of 8mm to DVD. Their transfer was very disppointing as there was a lot of film jitter. It was almost UnWatchable, those segments that had the high-jitter rates. Later on, I tried out CinePost and their transfer was a whole lot better! The film jittering was totally eliminated as they use a sprocket-less film transport mechanism with wet-transfer. Price was higher, almost double, but CinePost did such a great job, I don't mind paying extra for the much higher-quality transfer! read more

Had two VHS tapes transferred onto DVD thru Costco. Several things were disappointing. I have Mac computers. The DVD's would not open on any of them, even to just view. The only way I could view DVDs was thru DVD player hooked up to my TV set. or on their website, for up to 3 months. However, one of the two videos has now disappeared from my online account. Very disappointed. Spend the day trying to load onto a computer so I could edit DVDs, but wasn't successful. Website allows you to edit, but it's capabilities are very limited. You can create individual "snippets," but you cannot combine any of the snippets. Again, very disappointed. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars based on the crappy customer service I would. 1 star is being extremely generous. Unfortunately, I still have not received my original VHS tapes or the converted DVDs so I can't even comment on the final product. This review is all about the "customer service." I purchased this deal on Groupon. That was a big mistake. I really wish I would have done my research before I purchased it. The deal is $19 for $60. I chose the easy ship kit which costs $20, however they don't tell you that up front. Whatever, I didn't read the fine print so that's my bad. I still had $40 left for the actual transfer. Fine. The problem is redeeming the Groupon and then subsequently having to call these people when the website will not accept the Groupon voucher code. I had already redeemed the voucher when I submitted a request. The Groupon was applied on the order estimate. But when I went to confirm on the website, no voucher existed. I called these fools to inquire about it. Had to wait on hold for 20 minutes and listen to a British robot lady voice which was just loads of fun (or not). Then I spoke to some man (didn't get his name unfortunately) who didn't seem to care about his job very much. He put me on hold while he looked into the issue and then said I would have to get the code from the confirmation email that Groupon sent me. I told him it was not located in the email and since I had already redeemed the code, I did not have access to it. He put me on hold again, and then said that it should be fixed within 24 hours. He also said a manager would call back the following day to make sure it was fixed. I checked back on the website and it still wasn't reflecting my discount and surprise, surprise, there was no phone call from anyone at YesVideo. Instead of calling these idiots again, I emailed Groupon since they actually have a good customer service department. Within 24 hours, someone from Yes Video reached out to me and provided me with a code to try again. I thought the problem would be solved after receiving another code, but you know where this is going...it wasn't fixed. I spoke to another person at Groupon about the situation and within 24 hours, Karen from Yes Video called me. Funny how no one cared to call when I tried to leave Groupon out of it. I spoke with Karen and she was able to apply the Groupon code to the remaining balance. Total charge was $30.95. The story should end here, but it doesn't (shocking)! I check my bank statement a few days later and I see two charges (one for $10, one for $69.96). I call YesVideo and try to speak with Karen but she has left for the day. The person I spoke with stated she would have her call me back. Today, I'm waiting for Karen to call and I don't hear from her, so I call them and speak to a Shantel and guess what? Karen is gone for the day! Karen either doesn't work a full 8 hours, doesn't know how to return a phone call, or she never got the message! Shantel pretends to act like she cares about my frustration while giggling at every other thing I'm saying and then states that she will email Karen and let her know!! At this point I just want a refund and my originals back, but it appears that my order has been shipped. All of this and I don't even know how my DVDs are going to turn out. This whole process started back in December and now it's March! How much longer will I have to run in circles with these people?! To summarize: -Don't use Yes Video, especially if you have blood pressure issues -If you want to take a chance with them, don't use a Groupon -Don't expect any help from customer service WHEN something goes wrong and you're forced to speak with these fools -Beware of hidden fees -Don't use Yes Video Update: 3/6/13 I received a phone call from Karen Monday morning (3/4). She apologized for the inconvenience and stated that the refund would be credited to my bank account within two business days. I checked today and the refund has been processed. I also received the DVDs and original VHS tapes. I am satisfied with the quality. They even threw in a bag of microwave popcorn and a coupon for my next purchase. Unfortunately there won't be a next purchase from Yes Video. This entire process of trying to get three measly VHS tapes converted to DVD was not a positive experience. In February of 2019 I received an email from YesVideo informing me that my videos stored on their server would be deleted on April 5, 2019 and that I should download them to preserve them in a location of choice. I have 11 videos on their servers. I successfully downloaded 7 of them. The four that would not download were originally two videos split in two by YesVideo. These split files are named Family2004 (1 of 2) and Family2004 (2 of 2). If you click to download (1 of 2) or (2 of 2) YesVideo assigns the same file name for each i.e. (1 of 2) is named 12345.zip and (2 of 2) is named 12345.zip. For some reason the two downloads cancel each other out and the downloaded 12345.zip displays and empty folder. I have placed six calls to their help desk and keep getting the run around. "Yes sir we will email you to resolve this". This is a simple programming bug. They should pay me for debugging their software. Avoid this company if you have unreplaceable videos. read more

I did a transfer of a 7" reel of film labeled as being from Lockheed. Find out after it was transferred, that its my first and second Christmas' and birthday's. What a huge treat, and I got to see my dad's dad, whom passed away in 1972. I viewed it with my mom, dad and my dad's mom, whom recently passed, but she got to see her widowed husband before she left so she'll remember what he looks like when they meet again. Great work, looks fantastic, returned my media and a disc, and the price was awesome, and I now can see what I once could not. I felt like a star for having the forethought to get it transferred, and saving the reel from the recycle bin. Thank you YesVideo for making such a fantastic presentation of an otherwise bland film. Pros, Cons, then summary. As mentioned in prior reviews, Costco uses YesVideo for its transferring of old film reels and VHS tapes to DVD. (among other things I'm sure) I was VERY nervous about sending my old, irreplaceable 8mm tapes away....fearing they would get "lost" in the mail and/or ruined forever. PROs--YesVideo was able to transfer all of the 8mm reels to DVD. (I had about 28 reels). Some were very old and fragile,and I didn't think it was possible, but they did it. The DVD is set up nice, and they will make the DVD according to the order you want. Plus, you can access your DVD online for free. You can even share clips of your DVD to social media with YesVideo's online feature. The service was quick too, and cheaper than their competitors in my area. CONs--No real cons, the customer service was fine....and I was satisfied with the entire process. Would I go here again? Yes, they did a good job. Costco (as is usual) did a good job vetting this contractor and their service is great. read more

Please be aware that if you pass the 90 days that your digital copies are available, there is no way to get them. I am so disappointed that Yes Video does not backup or archive orders. Due to life circumstances, I just today opened my box of returned videos with digital copy access codes and am not able to access them. I am apparently 8 days past my 90 day cutoff. I spoke with a company representative and was not offered any alternative other than to send in a new order and pay again. My order cost nearly $300 before any discount, tax and shipping and I have nothing in return. Not a good experience. read more

I had six 8 mm films transferred to DVD through Costco (using Yes Video). The quality is very poor. I understand that the actual film might not be good, however I have a few others transferred by a different vendor and they were not so terrible as this transfer. Also, there seems to be footage missing from what I dropped off. Finally, they did not put the films back onto the original small reels, and consolidated them all onto a large one. Now, I will bring this to another shop to see if they can do better, and it will just be a mess to deal with. Ugh. read more

I do not recommend YesVideo. I paid a lot of money to have a number of family videos that were shot on High 8 and MiniDV tapes to be transferred to DVD as well as posted online on my YesVideo account. My YesVideo account could be accessed via a YesVideo app on my iPhone or iPad, or on the YesVideo website from my computer. Well I have not accessed my videos online for over a year and now they are gone. Customer service now tells me that unless I access the videos every year they are no longer available. I paid a lot of $$$ to have the videos converted and did not expect them to be removed from the site. I would not recommend this service and will not use them again. read more

I am very disappointed in the quality of the film transfer performed by YesVideo. I ran all 13 reels (650 feet) of film thru my projector immediately before placing the transfer order at Costco and observed no significant quality issues. I am unhappy due to the following: 1. The same piece of debris on every frame for 3 minutes on video #1. Their "Quality Alert Notice" reported "hair/dirt"; however, it is not possible for every frame to have a piece of hair that looks exactly the same as other pieces of hair on hundreds of frames for almost 3 minutes. The debris must have been on the optics of their projector. How was the debris discovered that resulted in reporting "hair/dirt"? If it was discovered by viewing the resulting digital video, why wasn't the film and/or projector cleaned and run thru the system again? 2. For 1.5 minutes on video #2, the image is very dark. Their "Quality Alert Notice" reported "under-exposed; however, this section did not appear under-exposed when run thru my projector. 3. A short section of about 10 seconds on video #2 appears extremely over-exposed; however, this section did not appear over-exposed when run thru my projector. 4. All of the digitized video appears slightly less sharp than the original when it was run thru my projector. If this is typical to film conversion processes, then I could have lived with that, but it was not due to "shot out of focus" as reported by their "Quality Alert Notice". 5. Their "Quality Alert Notice" reported "mechanical tears, wrinkles, or scratches to the film". There were no significant tears (maybe a couple of torn sprocket holes over the 650 feet of film) and no wrinkles. There may have been a few very minor scratches - not worthy of note. I mention this to highlight the fact that this film was in excellent condition. I am convinced that any quality issues in the digital product were due to their process and/or inattention of the operators. I reported this to YesVideo and got no response so I returned the digital video to Costco and got a full refund. read more

Like a lot of people my age i have 'that box' of assorted video tapes (VHS, VHS-C, who-knows-what) for which I have no device that I can play them back on. And living in Florida, I know they're quickly degrading...I picked out a few key tapes, along with some negatives of long-lost photos, in the easy-ship kit, and was really happy to have access to them online for viewing and sharing. I'm still old-school, so I especially like the fact that you get the physical DVDs for archiving along with the online access for sharing. Process took longer than I had hoped (several weeks), but given the things had been sitting in a box for many years I guess that's not a real big deal! Feels good to not have to worry about those memories of my long-ago childhood slowly rotting anymore... read more

I recently had two 8mm videos from over 20 years ago transferred to a USB, and I'm ecstatic about the results! YesVideo did an amazing job transferring my content and I'm so happy that I had an opportunity to share those videos with my daughter and hopefully future grandchildren. Really poor quality transfer of video from VHS to DVD. They use cheap DVDs and USB, and the picture is so grainy you can barely see.

My family has cases of old family movies from as far back as the 70s, many of which were shot before they moved to the U.S. Thanks to YesVideo many of them have gotten transferred to DVDs. Needless to say they have been stoked to be able to see their old homes and reminisce. I've yet to have an issue with them and will continue to use the service. Cheers! read more

Here are the negatives: * They leave it to me to convert the videos from the .VOD files format to a Mac compatible format. Their FAQ says 'it's easy', but if you have ever tried to download and use file format conversion tools they are anything but easy until you find the right one. There are a zillion file conversion tools out there and while many say 'free', they may have limitations (such as converting only certain types of files, or only a few small conversions either in size or in numbers). Others download spam and others still make themselves exceedingly difficult to remove. You've all been there I am sure. So, my specific issue is that YV ignores the Apple customer and this gap in their product offering stands in the way of a positive customer experience as I wanted to immediately download a video, do a little bit of editing in iMovie and share with others. Nope, now have to spend my time researching file conversion tools... I understand why they might not want to provide MP4 or other Mac compatible files as it would use more space on the CD and possibly extending one CD to two. But why not ask that question on the order? Or provide the conversion tool of their choice so the overall solution isn't one piecing together parts so that you eventually get a solution. They give no indication on the order that the files you get are not Mac compliant as well. * The quality of the videos seemed quite poor to me. I can't hold them entirely responsible for this as I no longer have the VHS and 8mm video players with which I could compare. The sound as well warbled up and down on a few videos. Some reviewers expressed more knowledgeable feedback of poor quality as they had the original equipment with which to compare. * Trying to add an video to my order (this is to add an existing online converted video to my online YV library) was difficult because of their inconsistent order number utilization. The website wants an order number. But it only wants the order number that is printed on the back of the CD, not the nearly identical number that is on bag in which it's returned from Costco. I did find that it does say so on the website (eventually), but why create confusion. The order number on the back of the cd was (example) S-1234567-0-0 and the order on the back of the bag was T-1234567, so they are nearly identical but not quite. Not a big deal, but just part of the frustration. On the positive side: * Ease of access through Costco * The online and sharing feature is pretty nice, but I am a bit concerned about security. For example, I can't just share with friends/family. Someone could post the link to social media and I have no control over who sees it. This is unlike Youtube or some other video sharing sites that give me fine grain control over who can see the videos. Overall, I don't have other video conversion efforts to compare YV against, but this wasn't the usually high quality of Costco provided services. I wish I had come to Yelp prior to spending my $250 on the conversion effort. read more
