Who at the age of 66 has seen their photo in a home movie ? I have ! I could not be happier with the service and quality of 8mm. film transfer delivered by Yes Video. My introduction to them was in 2012. I bought a Groupon and had four reels of 400 foot 8 mm. movie coverage transferred to DVD. These movies were dated 1946-1948....a long time ago, and were taken by my Dad. From my birth until two so many wonderful events were captured. I saw these movies growing up but have not viewed them for 40 years or so. I was so pleased with Yes Video and the efficient process of my order...so I took the plunge, spent the money and had another 21 reels of 400 foot movie film transferred to DVD. These are movies I have taken through my 46 years of marriage, our children, family, trips, school activities, birthday parties...you name it, I was there taking the movie. Yes Video has made my purchase so user friendly. I can share my DVD online, send a clip of coverage by email, share it on FaceBook, view my DVD on a TV, computer and my iPhone. There is a free downloadable Yes Video App and my movies now are instantly available from "a cloud" where they are permanently accessible....I just learned that soon to be made available will be an App for an iPad ! The friendly employees that I met have been most helpful...thank you Greg, Eric, another Eric, Joy and Lisa....and to their competent behind the scene skilled staff who actually did the work. I have been assured that they are there for me should I have a question as to how to access my videos online, sharing, etc. I would recommend Yes Video for their excellent work. No longer will I worry of deteriorating old movie film, film loss or damage. Our family is well archived now. My advice is for you to have a box of Kleenex ready when you view your DVD for the first time...it is a walk down memory lane and a glimpse into our past. 5 stars for Yes Video :-) read more

This business should be called, "NoVideo" or "NoService" or just plain old horribly- disorganized- non service- oriented,- we- do- a- bad- job -video & - we- don't-care-about-our- customers-video. We sent our videos to them 6 weeks in advance of XMAS, they couldn't locate them twice, found them & did nothing, lost them again, kept us on hold endlessly when we were trying to find out what the problem was, they finally located them and sent them 3 weeks after XMAS. Nobody offered apologies, compensation for poor service- nothing and on top of it, the quality of the videos is awful! No way would I recommend this place. Take your business elsewhere! read more

I used Yesvideo through Target and was very happy with the discount that i got. I transferred 25 of my home videos - mini dv, VHS and Hi-8. The service was fast, I got an email in about a week that said that my videos were ready for online viewing. It was so cool to see all of my videos on my computer. My kids and I spent hours that first night watching them. It really brought back memories of when my boys were babies. I also tried the mobile app, which was nice to have, but the online viewing is better. read more

If you have memories that you treasure, do not use Yes Video to preserve them! As other reviewers have mentioned, the quality of the videos they send you is inferior--there is NO color on any outdoor videos--they look black, white, and gray. There are tracking lines that were not on the original videos, and videos seem to be interrupted with another scene for a few seconds, then goes back to the original. Many of my videos contained musical performance, and the sound did not always sync up with the image. Quality is poor, poor, poor, and the only reason they are still in business is because they must have contracts with large companies such as Sam's, Costco, and CVS. Get your money back from those companies if you paid for this service. If you are reading these reviews before you submit your tapes, consider yourself lucky. Do not use this company!!! read more

I recently used YesVideo to convert all (literally, all...150+ lbs worth) of my family's old media to digital. YV did a great job...the process is seamless and the output is terrific. YV has created a slick but intuitive app, and my parents love having the ability to share old videos on their iPhones/iPads at family reunions, etc. YV has a great service, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who still has their memories "trapped" on legacy media. read more

Once i got my order through all the shipping labels and charges were wrong so had to call again and waited another 20 minutes to fix the problem. I recently submitted some family VHS tapes to be transferred to DVDs at a local Costco warehouse. I received my order back a couple days ago and my whole family and I enjoyed watching the videos on DVD! I must say the cost for the transfers was well worth the money spent knowing that our memories can be conveniently viewed on DVD now rather than on an old dusty VHS tape player (who even owns one of those nowadays?!) Dropped 26 8mm reels off at Costco in January, learned a month later the Photo Centers were gone from all Costcos. After emailing concern to Costco, they assured films were safe at YesVideo. Picked up films in April, all my reel cans were empty - they never bothered putting them back in but left them on their own reels and unmarked so I have no idea what is what and if they are even mine. They packaged them crappy too, like they didn't care. The DVDs are bad quality - jumps and black bars keep showing up in various spots like they didn't adjust the speed properly. Bad quality overall. It appears they don't even bother cleaning the film before running it through like reputable companies do. They suck and after seeing how they sent it back they are basically unethical, probably have tweakers doing the work for them. Spend more money for a better and, if you're not in Georgia, local lab. read more

I'd like to apologize to YesVideo... A representative phoned me this morning and explained that my slides were erroneously sent directly to Walmart's media transfer service, and NOT to YesVideo at all! The discs do have Walmart printed on the front, not YesVideo. I was charged for each envelope because the people receiving the slides didn't know about my YesVideo order and price deal; they probably didn't really know what to do with this media. I sent in a 12 inch reel fo 16mm film taken in Hawaii in 1960. The film had lovely color and I was excited to have DVD's of loved ones who have passed. What I got back was dark and I could not see faces. The water was black! $104 and I got garbage, a thorough disappointment. Instead of sending me this disappointment they should have tried again. I will take on the transfer myself because videoing the film and transferring that to DVD on my own is better than YesVideo's work. read more

SUMMARY I submitted two well-cared-for VHS videotapes via Costco to YesVideo for transfer to DVDs. Playback from the resulting DVDs was quite unacceptable, greatly inferior to playback from the source tapes. I subsequently returned everything to Costco to be redone. On the second try the results were no better. The Costco/YesVideo brochure boasts "High-quality transfer to archival-quality gold DVDs" and "Audio recorded in high-quality Dolby Digital." The four DVDs that I received certainly did not meet those standards even on the second try. CUSTOMER SERVICE I discussed the problems with an individual at YesVideo tech support, who sounded knowledgeable and sympathetic. Then I sent the videotapes back to be redone. I included a letter with each videotape which detailed the problems (and possible solutions). I sent copies of the letters via snail-mail to the "Chief Technology Officer," whose name and address were listed on the YesVideo website. All to no avail. I received no response from the "Chief Technology Officer." COMPARING Two of us together compared playback from the resulting DVDs with playback from the source tapes. Comparisons were done using a Panasonic PV-S9670 4-head S-VHS video cassette recorder/player, a Panasonic DVD player, and a Panasonic TV. The DVDs were also played back on DVD players in two different PCs, each employing its own audio system. All the aforementioned were in good working order as evidenced by audio and video playback from other DVDs and from other VHS and S-VHS tapes. ABYSMAL AUDIO Compared to that of the VHS source tape from which it had been transferred, the YesVideo DVD audio was nearly unintelligible throughout. The sound was greatly attenuated and muffled. It lacked the normal volume and clarity, and nearly all the higher frequencies, of the source tape. INFERIOR VIDEO The DVD video was also noticeably inferior to that of the source tapes. On the two (duplicate) DVDs with the worst audios, the first few minutes of DVD video are erratic, with the picture shaking vertically. The color rendition of all four DVDs is less vivid, rather washed out, compared to the video reproduced directly from the source tapes. CONCLUSIONS It is easy to believe that the stationary audio and control head(s) in YesVideo's tape playback equipment were either (1) badly in need of cleaning, (2) very worn out, (3) magnetized, (4) in need of alignment, or (5) some combination of the aforementioned. This could account for both the abysmally poor audio and for the vertical shaking of the video. The video quality exhibited by the DVDs suggests that the rotating heads in YesVideo's playback equipment need attention as well, although there could be other factors. QUALITY CONTROL The YesVideo website states that YesVideo is "using the latest technology." That may very well be true. However, the technology of magnetic tape playback, which is largely an electromechanical process, requires regular monitoring and maintenance, particularly the heads. This is especially true under conditions of high usage with video cassettes of widely varying age, condition, storage and handling histories, temperature exposures, cleanliness, original manufacturing quality, etc. What quality control procedures does YesVideo employ? read more

My faincee's Mom had some old videos and pictures in storage that we wanted to digitize. YesVideo was recommended through a friend. They send you a box that you put all your old media into. You mail that box in. And then send you a link shortly thereafter with the digital copies of your media. They also do this fun thing where they turn your videos into clips so you can more easily share them. Super fun - we had a blast watching childhood videos. Service was professional. Turn-around was quick. Ease of use was so that my fiancee's Mom who is not heavy into tech easily figured it out. Quality was good (though you quickly realize your 1985 camcorder didn't record in the best of quality). Would recommend to anyone. read more

Once I got my DVD back, I was so surprised to see all the family and friends that I have not seen or spoken to in years. Love YesVideo. They are different and better than all the other video transfer companies because they don't just give you a DVD but also put your videos online (securely) so you can easily share them. The process was seamless... sent a box of VHS, 8mm and other videos in and about a week or so later had all my videos up online. Was amazing to see old 20+ year old home video that I hadn't seen in ages and I was able to immediately share them with my family (who were all very excited to see some of these videos as well.) I'm so glad I did this; I've been worried that my videos are likely deteriorating and that I'll love all the memories my and my parents worked so hard to capture. The other great thing these guys do is automatically create "chapters" in the videos making it easy to just share clips. That's much more useful than having to share one big 2 hour video. I took all my vhs tapes to Costco to be converted to DVD's. They all came back OK EXCEPT a 6-hour vhs that was converted to 4 DVD's. The voice delay is horrible! I took them back and they redid them at no charge. Well, they are still bad! I will get a refund ($88) and then find someone else who can convert a 6 hour vhs tape correctly. read more

Everything they promised. I had had around 80 reels 8 and super 8 transferred with Legacy Box. I was pleased enough with the results. I used Groupon, the cost was about $500 instead of reg price of $2000. Later, I found 10 more reels I had let a local guy do but it would have been too expensive to do them all, so tossed them in a drawer. I found Yes video through Costco. Their price per reel worked out to be cheaper than what I had paid with Legacy. Color restoration was pretty dramatic. Especially considering that the 8mm was nearly 60years old. They also spliced the film together onto 6inch reels and printed a nice case with thumbnails for storage. Legacy just put them in a sleeve. I would definitely recommend yes video. read more

My siblings and I used YesVideo to digitize old VHS home videos and pictures for our parents. Sitting at lunch my dad excitedly showed me the videos on the iPhone app, and they looked great! I also went online to check them out on the big(ger) screen. At home, my parents have been able to hook up the laptop to the tv and watch the videos there as well, and they're thrilled. Without a VHS player we would never have watched these videos again, but now we'll be able to share the clips for years to come, and we don't have to worry about scanning hundreds of photos ourselves. I recently had four videos transferred from VHS to DVD. I left them with Walmart, who in turn, used YesVideo to do the transfer. I left the videos with Walmart on December 18 and received the DVDs six weeks later. BEWARE: YesVideo copyrights your videos and you no longer have control over where you might want to share them. This is not mentioned on their website, and even if it was, I had no way of knowing this because Walmart did not share that information with me. I paid $50 to have an editing software installed on my computer so I could download from the DVDS. Upon my complaining to YESVIDEO, they referred me to a free software that I could use to download and have the copyright removed. That information should have come with the dvds to begin with. I am sadly very disappointed in this service and will never use them again or refer anyone to them. read more

Recently used YesVideo for transferring our old videos from MiniDV to DVD. We had tried unsuccessfully to transfer them to DVD ourselves. We were hesitant at first to use an outside service because of the price. But after using Yesvideo we thought it was definitely worth it. We were so happy to finally be able to show our kids videos of them from when they were little. A great feature is that they divide the videos into chapters so its easy to find the scene you're looking for. We also like the online access of the videos which we use more often than the DVD because we can view them anywhere. read more

Only two stars so far as its way past the deadline and I haven't received my films or dvd's back as yet - getting a little nervous. They say their turnaround time is 7-10 days after receipt. I sent two orders in direct (not thru Costco, etc.) and it's been 21 days for one and 23 days for the other since the UPS tracking dates of receipt. I tried to send an email inquiry to their customer service today but the link on their site isn't working. Called them instead and spoke with Hector who seem surprised that I hadn't received them back by now and said he would submit a request for "expedited processing". He thought I would have them back by next Friday (yikes! - it's the 13th). Hoping I will be able to change this rating to 5 stars - guess we'll see! read more

I wish I had read reviews here first. I transferred my dad's old slides (kept in faithful chronological order) to digital and sent my USB in to YesVideo with clear directions that there were three files of pictures in a particular order. They came back completely mixed up so that pictures of a baby in Key West appear in the middle of penguins in Anarctica. A lengthy discussion with the company via chat resulted in the position that I could send in my materials for a re-do, but they could not assure me that the result would be in the chronological order in which I sent it. (So why would I send them in for a re-do?) They also refused to refund my money on the grounds that I had uploaded the materials from online, which was not true, as I had only viewed them in the cloud and have not uploaded one item from their cloud site. The quality of the transfer was quite good, but since the pictures are out of order, they make no sense, so I now have 2 DVDs I cannot use and am out more than $30. I am extremely disappointed in this service. read more

I just finished viewing the work YesVideo did transferring some 450, 35MM slides to DVD. For days prior to submission, I had painstakingly placed the slides in the order in which I expected them to be placed on the DVD. Each slide frame had a numeral written on it from 1 to 450. Alas, when returned, for technical reasons, the images on the DVD were jumbled. There are some general themes but the viewing order is in no way what I intended. Additionally, I had written who is pictured on the frame of each slide expecting to place the slides into slide sheets for future identification. It was not until I opened the final product that I was informed that the slide order had been scrambled. Additionally, the slides were not returned in the order in which they appear on the DVD. So now I must tediously go through and locate each slide in its new order before placing each into the slide sheets. I am very disappointed. read more

On two occasions, I went to Costco (in Mountain View) for a Mini DV to DVD transfer service. One time I paid for rush processing, and it took 4 weeks; the other time I didn't, and it took 2 weeks. Go figure. Regardless, I am happy with the results. The quality of the video (color, sharpness) wasn't amazing, but that is likely due to the original recording quality. A warning - the video is highly interlaced (when coming from Mini DV), but using a viewer (VLC) that can do some deinterlacing - and explicitly enabling this feature - helps a LOT. They do do a great job of auto-chapterizing the video on the DVD, though, and the DVD sleeves are slim (which I appreciated) and the jacket is printed with images of each chapter, so you can see what is on the disc. This was a nice touch. And you get 2 copies of each DVD they make. read more

My experience with them has been fantastic. I sent in 8 tapes from a camcorder, 2 of which had damage on the tapes. I was hoping that they would be able to work with the tapes that were damaged and they did this beautifully. They phoned me to ask permission to cut out about 1 foot from each tape. I was very happy that they could do this repair work on such old tapes and that they were efficient and respectful in asking to cut out the damaged part. The DVDs arrived back at Costco about 4 weeks after I had dropped them off. The quality of recording was fine and I am a happy customer. The cost of having this same service done here in Canada was almost double what Costco/Yesvideo charged. read more

Doesn't live up to the promise I sent 7 reels of old Super-8 film for digitization. I got 5 digital files back. One reel was labeled "service not provided," without much explanation of why. The seventh missing one? I don't know. Maybe they spliced it to the other one. The digital movies were cropped, so that important subjects were cut off. Luckily, I had a video I took with my iPhone when we watched the movies on an old projector, so I could prove they were cropped. Otherwise, they seemed like they were pretty good considering the original film (age, bad focus, badly stored). It seemed like they did a little bit of work on brightening as advertised on the Costco website. (Website says, "Includes cleaning, splicing, background music or actual audio, enhanced colors, and scratch reduction." Because of the cropping, I contacted YesVideo, and they agreed to a redo at no charge. I brought the originals back to Costco, and when the DVDs came back, the cropping issue was resolved. However, there didn't seem to be ANY of the cleaning or other enhancements performed. Worst of all, in several places the frame skipped (so the bottom half the picture was at the top, and the top half was at the bottom). Really? No QC at all? Finally, they send the videos on DVD in some kind of weird format with "chapters" and menus that don't correspond to anything. (Like, just every 3 minutes or so they make a new "chapter.") Since I don't have a DVD drive on my computer, I had to rip them to an old computer, then copy them over. Then, I had to dig into the raw files, convert them to mp4 online (I used Apowersoft), and then edit and splice the files myself to create meaningful clips. I'm having to splice clips from the original, cropped batch into the new batch where the frame skipped. So disappointing. Two stars because it was inexpensive, I got my original reels back without incident, and they agreed to the do-over, such as it was. read more

A Warning about Yes Video. Your videos will be sent on DVDs and the videos will not be in mpg format. This means you will be unable to play them on other movie applications like Real Player or Windows Media Player etc. and you will be unable to transfer the videos to hard drives etc. Your videos will be formatted as applications that can only be played on the DVD player. I found this ridiculous and complained to Yes Video who could have cared less and had no solution to converting the videos to mpg format, hence I took the videos back to Costco and got my money back. I have sent film to other vendors who all return the videos to you in mpg format so that you can play the videos as you wish. read more

THIS PLACE IS A LYING RIPOFF. Save your money and go somewhere else. I went with this company through costco and I wasted $150 on transferring five VHS tapes. I was told that 2 hours of footage could fit onto one dvd and was astounded when I received 7 dvds because I didn't think there was 14 hours worth of footage between 5 vhs tapes. After watching all of them, I was correct. Two of the DVDs only had 30 minutes worth of footage, one had 45 minutes worth of footage, one had an hour worth of footage, and three had two hours worth of footage for a total of eight hours and forty five minutes. Not only that, every single DVD had multiple instances of static and black screen that lasted for minutes on end and two of them had random TV recordings on them that hadn't been cut when I specifically made a note that these were HOME VIDEOS. The dvds are also terrible quality: the audio is as low as a vhs (my volume has to be on 50 out of 100 in order for me to here anything) and there is static at the bottom of the screen JUST LIKE A VHS. And four of the dvds were THE EXACT SAME FOOTAGE. Those tapes are the only video footage I have of my recently deceased mother, of which I made a note of on my order, and I am extremely disappointed that better care was not taken to preserve these memories as best as possible. I do not own a VCR and VHS tapes deteriorate over time, so having them transferred to DVD was very important to me and I am very upset that I wasted so much money on so little quality. After emailing yesvideo, I was told that they simply transfer the footage to DVD and don't edit at all, which would have been nice to know before I wasted my time. I returned everything to Costco for a full refund and am taking my business elsewhere. Such a sham of a company. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER!!!!! unless you don't care if you get your original keepsakes back! I can't give them zero or minus stars but would if I could! YesVideo (more like NoVideo) said I would have my order of slides, negatives, photos, tapes and reels back around Christmas. (order sent first week in Dec). That came and went, so did New Years, so did Martin L King birthday....and I kept getting excuse after excuse when I would followup. "..well there was one issue with one tape" ( I had already spoken with CS around the middle of December on this and that had been rectified so I knew that was not the reason. Then there was "your order is ready to ship I just don't really know why it hasn't it but will find out for you" That didn't happen. This week, 1/22, I finally demanded my order back so they had to apologize (again for the umpteenth time - that is all they do but don't do anything else), and was told they would refund me and send everything out ASAP. 2 days later I got another call finally fessing up to LOSING some of my originals!!!! They are still trying to figure out what happened, thinking it may have gotten shipped to someone else, don't know....!) If you read the Yelp above mine, you would see he mentioned they needed a better tracking system but gave them 5 stars anyway-- seriously! Some truths finally came out -- they either have lost a portion of my order, shipped it out with someone else's order (which is still lost!) or ruined it and truly won't fess to their negligence. Whatever the lies, some (so they say) of my originals are gone. Quite apparently there is NO Quality Control, lousy tracking and they lied in hopes of hiding their incompetence and negligence. Wellll. I got my second set of DVD's back today. Finally in the proper order. This time no music added. Yes, I ordered music. Yes I'm very upset. NO I will not send my stuff back for a third time. NO I will NOT ever use this service again and I will not recommend them to anyone EVER. I paid A LOT of money for these videos. Videos of my father. Gone 3 years now. Video of my mother who will be gone in a years time. This was supposed to be a gift for her. Now I am going to let my daughter fix everything because the professionals couldn't get it right. I just got back 200 old photos and slides from the 1960's and 70's. The quality of the pictures were just amazing. They cleaned the slides and got rid of smudges and fingerprints and all of the pictures turned out beautifully. I actually couldn't believe it. We had a bumpy start in the beginning because I was so paranoid that they misplaced my only copy of family photos, but they were safe and sound and in good hands. The only thing I would change would be a better tracking system so that people can rest assured that their orders are safe. read more

Granted, my VHS tapes were 30 years old, I expected a little better quality than what I received.
