A cool place to spend at least an hour looking in. We stumbled in on a Sunday afternoon and there were quite a few other shoppers inside. We immediately saw free (or what I assumed to be free) mini cupcakes and coffee right at the entrance. The register is in the middle of the store, and there is a friendly cat laying on it. The woman working the store was also helpful and offered a good price when an item didn't have a tag on it. The place is a bit stuffy from all the stuff, but it's huge. The hallways are cramped from all the stuff, so be careful walking through. There's also a second floor. Definitely a cool spot to look around and hunt for old vintage finds, just wished it was a bit roomer to move around. read more

Cool, old school antique store. Packed is an understatement! Reminds me of shop's in the 90s which were stuffed with treasures. The dealers here are a bit hit or miss. Some have a great eye like the Mid Century dealer in the back corner on the ground floor, others look like a yard sale. If you dig around you are bound to find something cool. We did!. Bonus, they have a friendly store cat! And the gentleman that rang us up was very friendly. read more

I came here before it opened and a cat shadow caught my eye. The cat saw me and ran to the door. We came back when they opened the place is huge and very clean. They had so many things here it took us a while to look at everything. The prices here are extremely reasonable so it was hard to decide what to get. Everything they sold here was unique,clean and in great condition. The owner a lady was very nice and took her time to explain something's to us. The cat Charlie the store manager was so friendly. He let my son and I pet him. We purchased some art at a great price . We had an amazing experience. I would say this store is a must stop if you're in the area. They advertised on Instagram a cabinet for $85, and when I walked in 2 weeks later it was "on sale" for $125 Mostly narrow walkways, trying not to knock anything over. The back had a selection of stereos and speakers that look like they were ready to be recycled or for sale? Just a lot of junk, had some furniture in a cul de sac , only allowing 1 or 2 people in to see it all. Makasa tea cups in a China cabinet with no prices. The lady behind the counter looked straight out of the 1960s Batman TV with long white hair and jet-black eyebrows. Yesteryear's Marketplace has provided myself and my friends with many unique gifts that I wouldn't have found anywhere else. For example: cigar boxes, coffee table reads, and a photo series of a creepy, dead looking mannequin whom we refer to as Griselda. Speaking of Griselda, she is currently occupying some wall space in the hallway, and the gals take photos with her before any late night outings. Previous to the most recent visit Yesteryear was a cluttered mess. It was like your strange Aunt who just can't seem to get rid of anything. It also smelled like a cat, or perhaps an entire litter of cats have been defecating, while simultaneously dying under the furniture, hidden away for the past six months. No longer...somewhat organized (as much as you can get) and the carcass smell has been removed. Hurrah. I can't wait to come back next month and see what other novelties I can find. read more

This place is HUGE. Just when I thought I saw it all, I realized I could go upstairs too! It just keeps going! Clearly multiple vendors, so prices vary. Some things are crazy cheap, others are way overpriced. But if you are an antique-ing person you know it's all about the treasure hunt. Great wood furniture pieces that are extremely affordable, tons of glassware, rugs, pictures, books, everything is here. I got very overwhelmed but the bf was in heaven. The sheer volume and variety in this store is jaw-dropping. You could browse in earnest for many, many hours and not see everything. It's overwhelming, but not in an entirely bad way. Most of the vendors have set up their sections invitingly; however, there are a few who have so many things crammed into their space that you literally cannot get in; it would be like an archaeological dissection of layers to get through it all. There's zero danger of stock running low here! No matter which 20th-century decade you're into, it's virtually guaranteed that you will find something that catches your fancy. And the prices...oh, the prices. More than once I was stunned at how reasonable things were. If you're a non-wealthy collector with wealthy taste, you will be very happy at Yesteryear's. read more

This place has some nice things, however most things seem very overpriced and everything is thrown about and stacked on top of other items. I also didn't appreciate the misinformation I was given about an old print of woman laying down, I was interested in it until the owner told me it was a photo used for playboy I the late 1800's... too bad playboy wasn't published until 1953. That coupled with him pricing it at $75 I had to pass. I didn't want to leave empty handed so I left with this basket that I had to squeeze past other items to be able to reach. It had no price tag and was just thrown on top of a pile of random junk so I expected the price to be low but when I got to the front I was quoted $25 plus tax. Ugh city :( I've been to quite a few secondhand shops and they all tend to have that same overstuffed thing going on but they didn't creep me out. This place creeped me out in a "Silence of the Lambs" sort of way. It was just way too stuffed and way too dirty feeling. The prices are super high for the "antiques" they are peddling. It is a big 2-story shop...a ton to look at...way too overwhelming for me and I just didn't want to be in there. The shop guy didn't acknowledge our presence and had an Ebinezer Scrooge face the whole time. Just an uninviting place. Avoid!!! Try Treasure Hunt in Pinole instead...its overstuffed but not creepy and you actually want to see everything. read more

Part of the main reason I love living in Vallejo is the aesthetics of antique shops it offers. Antique shops are wonderful and Yesteryears is one that you can get lost in! Often I will have breakfast with an ample amount of caffeine then walk into the shop. Most days I go with no intentions of buying (it saves my wallet) but leave with something to remember my trip by. It's a really fun game! I go in with no expectations of people trying to sell me something and leave happy I sold myself on something. It's clear that people have they're own sections of antiques (consignment?). Walk the downstairs and upstairs and tell me you didn't walk out with something? Help is there if you need it and keep in mind there aren't sales people that walk about offering help. Your kinda on your own and it's the best feeling! Last time I was there I took note that I will most likely be back to purchase some sort of stone. The stone & rock section, well, ROCKS. Four stars because they have yet to put up their landmark rocking horse up for sale! P.S. I would be the first person to bid on it. read more

I work in town and sometimes come here on my lunch break. At times I've left with nothing, others a little something, and others a major haul. I spent almost two years asking the price of a Iamp I liked, and then one day the guy agreed to reduce the price for me. It's fun to wander around and look at the stuff. I normally don't visit antique shops, but I was with two friends who are hard core collectors, so I tagged along. Surprisingly enough, I was the only one who bought anything! The store is large. Various owners rent space in the store which isn't apparent at first. I was drawn to an art deco bullet shaped lamp in the front. I was also eying another art deco style lamp. The lamps were $150 and $250 respectively, too much for my budget at the moment. One of my friends started chatting up the woman behind the counter who was the owner of the items in the part of the store I was interested in. Could there be some discount perhaps? It probably helped that there were 20% off signs for non discounted items already. After some back and forth, she said I could have both lamps for $250, or the bullet one for $120. Well, my bargain hunter side got the best of me and I bought both for $250. Check the store out. There's a ton of stuff and it's interesting to visit even if you don't buy anything. read more

If only they had a 'no stars' rating button on Yelp. I used to come to this place every Saturday after buying my fresh fruits since this store is conveniently located in front of the farmers market. However, today was different. I walked into the store and stumbled upon these vintage postcard/photographs and kindly asked the man how much they were. He told me they were 2 for 10 and before I can bargain he walked away as if he dismissed me. Thinking that $10 was a bit much for two WALLET-SIZED photographs I set them down and walked out the store. As I walked out I heard a man yell 'what did you do with the photographs?!' at first I wasn't sure he was talking to me but once I heard it being yelled a second time I turned around the the sales man whom I asked the question accused me of stealing the photographs. OUT LOUD. I calmly told him I put it back where I got them and low-and-behold that's where he found them after accusing me. I sincerely don't want to use the race card for this situation but turns out it was just pure discrimination at it's finest. Is it such a wrong thing for an ethnically mixed teenage girl wanting to check out a few items? After all, I'm a good customer and have bought things there before. But after enduring this humiliating situation, I will no longer be coming back and have informed all my family and friends of this situation. read more

Avoid this store at all cost!!! I am a big buyer of antiques and collectibles. So I was excited to checkout the large selection of items they had on hand. But I was highly disappointed by the actions of that the older man who owns the store- he just flat out ignores customers. When asked a question about an item, he seemed put off and a little bit pissed off to help. Secondly they have shady business practices. I was only there for 20 minutes and observed the following: I saw him buy a bunch of jewelry and watches from a tweaker looking guy who was selling them out of a pillow sack. The owner spent more time trying to get these items for cheap, and convincing the seller that the items were worthless, then to notice a group of customer (who were in line) putting items they were going to buy down and leave the store. The only time he seemed interested in a customer, was if they were anything but white. When I was there, I watched him awkwardly follow around an African American couple- watching them. When they left, he told a women who worked there "I have to keep my eye on those people." I was disgusted by this and left promptly. Avoid this shop at all costs, they are overpriced, dishonest, not customer friendly and obviously only want to deal with a certain ethnic clientele. The only time I would suggest going to Yesteryear's Marketplace is if your house is broken into... because there is a good chance your stuff will end up for sale there. If there was a no star ranking, I would award Yesteryear's Marketplace that honor! read more

This place has a massive selection. So much, in fact, that large portions of the store are totally un-shoppable. There are some decently priced gems to be found. But, if I'm honest, the owner was so rude and terrible that I regret spending any money in his store. I travel in the Bay Area frequently and I will not be returning to this shop. read more

Amazing place! So much "stuff" in there you can literally spend 1/2 a day just wandering the cluttered isles. Old LPs, 45s and 78s, furniture, nicknack's, jewelery, statues, etc. And his prices are excellent! Vallejo being a "working class town" has its advantages in finding things here at way below what you'd find in say, Marin/Sonoma/Napa shops. Plus, there is a tailor shop upstairs. Find an old article of clothing and have the tailor fit it to you! You should go! read more

Visited for the first time yesterday - found a treasure I'm so excited about! But this store has a serious case of split personality. It seems to be run by an older man and woman (couple perhaps?) and the woman is so sweet, friendly, and helpful. The man is SO SO SO SO NOT. I wondered if I was just being oversensitive, but after reading the other reviews, I feel validated that my interpretation was correct and he is indeed The Biggest Jerk Ever. First interaction was when my friend and I were browsing in the main aisle and he was wheeling a piece of furniture through on a dolly. He shouted "COMING THROUGH!" but not in a friendly "heads-up, please step aside" tone, it was much more of a "get the [bleep] out of the way you [bleeping] dimwit morons" tone of voice - just not an appropriate way to address customers. Later, after I had purchased my (GORGEOUS I love it so much!) antique hand-carved "corner chair", a younger man who was there assisting offered to carry it to my car for me. When the older man saw this, he snapped at him, something to the effect of, "What are you, a delivery boy now!?" Honestly kind of appalling. Overall though, the store is so much fun to browse in, the woman and younger man were so nice and helpful despite the younger man actually being rebuked for his common courtesy to me, and I'm SO in love with my "new" chair, that I only knocked off one star for Superd**k. On the balance, I'd still recommend the place... just look out for the old guy. read more

This place is awesome. There are 2 levels of antiques to look through and they change all the time. I come in on the weekends to see what's new and usually leave with something I can't live without. I make the trip from San Francisco to visit this emporium, where the selection is good and the prices are right. A number of dealers are represented, and the owner has her own pieces (mostly art deco). Sales and discounts keep the prices reasonable. They really want to see things go home with someone who appreciates vintage items. The staff is friendly, and they are more than happy to help load your furniture selections at the front curb. Weird place. Called about a butcher block that was listed on Craigslist on Monday. Spoke with Bob, asked about the size and agreed on a price. I told him I would be there by mid afternoon that same day. Took off work in Tracy and arrived @ 2:00. I walked in and there was this older man walking from the front of the store to the rear, never turned back to acknowledge me. Worked my way to the middle of the store and interrupted this other man sitting at a desk doing nothing. Asked if he was Bob and told him who I was. Just looked at me and kind of smiled and shook his head. Weird. I asked if had sold it and he said yeah. He rambled on about something, a guy came in, asked if it was me, it wasn't, blah blah blah... I get that there are a lot of flakes (buyers) out there but I told him I was coming in after agreeing on a price. Most dealers would hold it until mid that day at a minimum, when I told him I was coming. This was a strange experience and I for one would not step back in there. Do so at your own risk. read more
