The hotel was full, so there were no rooms to move to, and we were told that we could use the restroom in the pool area instead and that they'd approve a partial refund but that we'd have to get it through the booking agency we used (United Hotels). After reaching out to the booking company (who then reached out to the hotel), we were basically gaslit and told we couldn't get a refund because they'd moved us to a new room (they didn't). Upon pressing, we were then told we couldn't get a refund because they'd made an adjustment to the toilet to get it working (they didn't). So they want me to pay full price for the honor of spending 30 minutes filling a trash bin with bath water in an attempt to get the toilet to flush (unsuccessfully) and then having to get dressed to go down to the pool at 3am to pee. There was not only zero effort to make this right, they actually went through great effort to resist offering any sort of solution at all, or even admitting that this happened. And I wasn't even asking for a full refund. Just some compensation for the first night in a room that shouldn't have been given to us in the first place. I've worked in the travel industry for 20 years, and I've never encountered customer service this appalling. Even if this were a five star hotel (which it absolutely is not), I wouldn't recommend staying here. If something goes wrong, you'll be hung out to dry.
