Yellow Hammer Roofing installed a new roof on our house. The work was very very unsatisfactory. I made several complaints to the company about several leaks in the new roof. Keep in mind there were no leaks in the old. Below is the complaint and the company's response where they admit they are not experts in roofing. Yellowhammer Roofing replaced the roof on our house there were no leaks in the roof at that time. Afterwards there were leaks around both chimneys. After three months of phone calls and arguments a crew came and repaired one leak. The other chimney stilled leaks and now leak even worse. A representative visited our house several times and refuses to correct the problem. To me new roof installed by Yellowhammer Roofing Company is not worth the money are the headaches. They came out and did the repair just in time as Hurricane Francine is headed this way in a couple of days. I called yellow hammer to get a roof estimate. My shingles were 15yrs old, black staining everywhere. Chris came out inspected the roof and told me I had substantial hail damage. He helped greatly and coordinated with my insurance inspector to identify damage. He was very patient in explaining and providing information on the types of shingles and addressing all my concerns from anti-mildew, ice and water shield to wind storm ratings. If he didn't have the resources to show me, he contacted the shingle Mfr and got them. Yellow Hammer was very patient while I contracted to have additional dormers built for an upstairs addition project prior to the new roof going on. Chris oversaw coordination and start date between his roofing crews and My GC doing the dormers. They were very posative and flexible when my GC ready dates slipped do to weather. Luis was the YH forman on the site. He and his team were seamless in their work and even corrected several shortcomings by the dormer framing crew. They did an exceptional job cleaning and went above all expectations. I highly recommend Chris and Luis with YH for any roofing project. read more

Horrible customer service!! I had a few shingles lift up/blow off on 8/6/23. I called on 8/7, salesman Jason showed up on 8/9 (he had to cancel on 8/8 due to rain). Following his drone review of the roof, he said it looked like an easy job. The pictures were sent to Production who would generate a quote. Later that afternoon, via e-document, I received the quote, which I immediately signed. Jason said it should be scheduled for the following morning (8/10). On 8/10, I received a revised quote, as Jason incorrectly completed the first version (the amount was unchanged). I later received a second email that day with an acknowledgement form he forgot to include originally. With all documents now properly completed, the job was submitted to Scheduling. After receiving no contact through mid-afternoon the next day (8/11), I called Scheduling asking when my job was scheduled. I was told Sunday, 8/13, which seemed odd. Questioning whether Sunday was a regular work day, I texted Jason. I received no response from him on 8/12 or to my follow up text on 8/13, and no worker showed up either. On Monday, 8/14, Scheduling told me my job had yet to be scheduled and someone would be out either 8/15 or 8/16. After telling my story, Jessica in Production was able to arrange for someone out to my house later that afternoon. Javier showed up and spent maybe 35 minutes on the repairs, replacing maybe 6 sheets of shingles. I didn't know for sure how long it took as he left without telling me. I wanted to discuss this fiasco with someone in Yellowhammer management. Ben from Production called me back on 8/14, said he was sorry, indicating the delay was in part due to obtaining a permit from the City of Madison. This was the first I heard that a permit was required to replace shingles (??, Jason never mentioned the requirement), plus I live in Huntsville, so I question Ben's story and sincerity. So while the quality of the work might be good, based upon my experience and their lack of communication with me, I cannot recommend Yellowhammer Roofing. read more

I recently bought a house who the previous owner had a new roof was installed by This company, I called them regarding an issue that's was created by them. The roof still under warranty but I was told that the issue couldn't be fixed because the water wasn't getting in the gutter like it was supposed to. I called the previous owner to see if the issue was there before he got the roof installed, and he confirmed that the way roof was installed is preventing the water from getting to the gutter and drain like it should, this has caused water to come in the house and damaged my hardwood floors. I would definitely not recommend this company to do your roof. Poor customer service, and they don't do what they're supposed to as for as Guaranteetheir work. read more

We had our roof replaced after the storms in April 2021. Brian with yellowhammer was so nice and helpful. He worked with the insurance company to make sure the cost was covered. He showed up when the adjuster came out to make sure they saw all of the damage. He took care of everything for us, and it was so stress free. Our roof was completed in a timely manner, and the roofers were very professional. They cleaned up our yard, and checked our neighbors' yards to make sure nothing from the roof fell in their yard. Our roof looks great! My neighbor had to replace their roof and did not get it covered by insurance. She used yellowhammer after getting 4 quotes, because they had the best price. Our venture with this company started in mid September 2021. Clint checked our roof and told us to call our insurance company because of the amount of damaged, once I got the money ,I called him to pick up a check 9/13. On 9/23, Clint asked for photo and re sign contract. My check was cashed 9/28, and still no idea of when our roof was to be done. On 10/19, I text Clint for an ETA for doing our roof, about an hour later, his reply was we were sch. for 11/9. On 11/5, again I text Clint asking about the materials , if it was coming on Monday. An hour later, his reply was the materials was not in, so now sch. on 11/12. Really! No communication ! We are the customer. The team that did the work was very nice and cleaned up well. However, the vents were not changed, but I paid for them, so how many times dose this happen? The person who picked up the extra materials knew about the vents and was going to report it. We have not heard anything since then. The roof was done 11/10 and was done in a day. The 3 stars are because of the roofers that did a great job , not the company. Clint and Jake came out to the property within a few days, and performed a thorough evaluation of the roof. They were professional, informative, and friendly. They noted the same findings as the home inspector, provided more detail about these issues, and even showed me pictures of the problem areas. They were honest about next steps, and did not try to sell me on any unnecessary repairs/services. I would not recommend Yellowhammer Roofing. 1st I was under the impression that they would be doing the work themselves. They don't, they contract the work out. A bunch of men that couldn't speak English came & put my roof on. If I had known that I would have hired a local company. 2nd I had a window that was busted out from the hailstorm. This window replacement was in the contracted amount we were charged. It took them over 2 months with me calling all the time to finally got it replaced. The window was not replaced right. Just the glass panel was replaced & no gas put in between the two panels. They had it done as cheap as they could. I had my daughters house recently re-roofed after the recent storms and it could not have gone any smother. My sales rep Wess (615.482.8633), was courteous, respectful and attentively listened to my needs and desires and made helpful suggestions. Wess, believe it or not handled ALL interface actions with my insurance company. He returned calls promptly and never promised anything that he could not deliver. I feel confident that the work was done in a professional and competent manner and that in the unlikely event there are issues they (the Company) will be there to make it right! Yellowhammer Roofing was one of the first companies that I called about a leak and rotted section of decking on my roof. Their inspector identified a hole in the roof and said that it was responsible for the leak. Out of due diligence I contacted other roofing companies to get additional evaluations and estimates on the repair job. They also confirmed that seeing daylight through a hole in my roof from the attic was problematic. I chose Yellowhammer even though they were not the lowest bid, because I felt that sometimes you get what you pay for. In this case, we did not get what we were paying for. We expected professionalism (that was not received) and courtesy, which means someone treating our home as though it were their own and striving to perform excellent work, but this was not so. The repairman said that he was finished with replacing the rotted section of the roof. I went inside the attic and still saw a stream of daylight pouring through a hole about the size of a quarter. I called Yellowhammer's office and was told that fixing the leak was not in the contract. I asked him if he was serious about leaving a leak in my roof directly above the area that had been damaged. It was absolutely unbelievable that he did not want to fix the hole in the roof which they had originally identified as a serious problem. I told the repairman onsite that this was not acceptable. He proceeded to get angry with me because I pointed out the problem that was not fixed. He said that they did not tell him anything about fixing a leak. This was unconscionable to me since there was rotten decking and facia. Would not a professional roofer discern that something had caused that damage? Apparently, he knew but did not care. He mentioned several times that it was Friday, and he was just ready to get the job over with. So, while he was cussing me under his breath, he proceeded to rip up the old shingles, shift them over a little bit, and start firing nails in the middle of them, which would undoubtedly cause the nails to rust as the nails were being driven in far too low and therefore create more leaks. After this was done, he then told me the second time that the work was complete. I went back into the attic and I could still see the hole except it had a blob of caulking. This was also poorly and haphazardly performed because the caulk did not even cover the entire hole. Remember, the hole was the size of a quarter. He promised that my roof would not leak and wanted to perform a water test using a water hose to prove to me that I was wrong. As the water test was being performed, I watched from inside the attic, and water was steadily streaming down a wood beam. He was notified of this and said that it would be fine and that it would not hurt anything. I told him that wood should never come into contact with water. Otherwise, another problem will occur. He stood there for a moment and said that he could come back the next day and try to fix the leak. I told him I had another appointment the following day and was unavailable to meet him then. I walked inside the house. The repairman stood there fuming because I pointed out a leak that he did not fix. I came out a short while later and offered him some water and he turned and looked at me, grumbled, and turned away. While doing so, I could see him cussing me under his breath. He ripped the shingles off again which he had destroyed by nailing too many times and replaced them with new shingles and covered the hole. As of now, I hope that our roof is repaired, but I have little confidence that it will last because I had to constantly make sure that the work was actually being performed after being deliberately lied to multiple times. When utilizing your hard-earned money to pay someone to perform an ethical and quality job for you, find someone other than Yellowhammer Roofing. They will absolutely look you straight in the eye, lie to you, and take your money while not performing the task you hired them to do. read more

Asked for an estimate to replace shingles on a roof. It took over 2 weeks to get the estimate then it was way over priced. During this time I was given almost every excuse imaginable as to why I had not received the estimate, this was pathetic. I told them that the estimate was extremely high and the response was that they do that so they can get the most out of insurance companies. The problem is I wanted an estimate to replace a roof without insurance, not to mention that it certainly shouldn't make a difference if money had or had not been received from an insurance claim. This was very shady to me. Despite this I still gave them a second chance to adjust the estimate and provide a fair price for the work. They sent back the same over inflated estimate. They wasted weeks of my time, don't let them waste yours! I would not recommend Yellowhammer Roofing! read more

I had YellowHammer replace a roof less than 6 years ago. Between me and my insurance we paid over 15 thousand dollars for this roof. It started leaking immediately. Apparently, they don't know how to roof around dormers. It leaked around every one of my dormers. They came back... and patched it, never repainted the ceiling or anything from their damage. Well, now that my 5 year warranty has expired, it has started leaking again, in the same spots. But, they patched it good enough to get past their warranty, so I am sitting here with a 15 thousand roof after less than 6 years old, leaking in multiple spots. If you have any dormers at all, I would not use this company. They did offer to come out and inspect it again, so they can fix it again... and charge again... thats never going to happen. Does anybody know a good / respectable roofer, because I need one.... for my 6 year old 15 thousand dollar roof. read more

This is an unethical company--avoid at all costs. We had storm damage this year and sought out contractors to do the repairs. What we could clearly see was gutters pulled down from the garage along with soffet damage, and we knew those needed repairs. Folks came out to give estimates and said that our roof was also damaged and in need of replacement. After a bit of back-and-forth with the insurance, subcontractors, contractors, and salespeople, we thought all would soon be well. We waited for the work to begin. Communication was lacking. Finally, someone came by to drop off supplies, and that was how we knew work would begin. We noted a few things that didn't seem quite right, but we were so worn down by the process that we didn't say anything and were just grateful to have a new roof. We asked the crew working when the rest of the work would be completed. They stated that they were the roofing crew and that others would do the other repairs. Days go by. Someone comes by to pick up leftover supplies, and he says he knows nothing about this--he just collects the leftovers. An inspector for the company comes by and we inquire about the unfinished repairs. He agrees that we should not be pleased and that he will pass on our concerns. Nobody contacts us. We call and are told someone else will call back. More days go by and the salesperson says they can't do the work for what we're paying them, so they'll just deduct a few hundred dollars from our total and give us the name of someone who can do it for that price. This caught us off guard and we asked to be contacted the following day. When no one called back, we called and were told someone would be in touch. We called again and explained further and were told someone would call back. The salesperson called and said that this was an honest mistake on their part but that they would not complete this job, but only deduct a bit of money from our bill and give the name of someone who would do the repairs. We said that this is not acceptable. He said that they have been in business all these years to make money, not lose it. We say we need to company to complete the repairs. He continues to call it an honest mistake. We tell them they need to finish this job. He says that fine, they'll do those repairs for what we have agreed to pay, and they'll probably lose money and is this what we want. We say, yes, please do that and thank you. He hangs up on us. Days later, we call the company and nobody knows anything about this and we explain the situation once again. More promises of returned calls. Finally, they send it up the ranks and we have our telephone conference with others in the company. They explain that they are covered through the contract, and I can see where they are. So we are stuck with the rest of the repairs on our own. They did not repair what they represented that they would repair--the very visible damages we first called them to repair. They called it an honest mistake on their part, but they refused to make good on their error. They were duplicitous and unethical. They did not do the repairs that we called them to do. Time will tell if the roofing they did holds up, but for now, we tell everyone to avoid this company, as they are unethical. read more

When there was a change in the start date I was informed via text message and they left a ton of nails in my yard and driveway. They laid down tarps, but I don't believe they went around after with the magnet like I was told they would. He stood next to us through the entire process; sitting with us, together, to file our claim with homeowners, personally meeting with our insurance adjuster, at our home, to ensure that everything damaged was accounted for during inspection, and showing up on the day of installation to ensure everything was going as planned. Jon also took the time to personally take our window screens ( heavily damaged by hail) and replace the screening himself and reinstall..so that we would not have to deal with the issue of doing so ourselves. I was a little skeptical when roofers came around wanting to give us a "free inspection" through the neighborhood. I like to do research on companies, and our next door neighbor had worked with this company. It began when the representative (Bass Wallace) met with us and talked us through the process. He worked with our insurance company and kept us informed along the way. The crew came early to drop off materials. On the day they showed up on time, and had a crew big enough to finish that day. They were very careful with my (new) landscaping and put a tarp down so the nails didn't go in the lawn. Just a professional experience the whole time.
