    Tiny overcooked steak cactus special.
    Jessica N.

Messed up my order than got an attitude with me. Don't recommend carryout. Store quality has went to shit. This tiny plate was almost $16 and the steak is over cooked and onions are undercooked. This is after I had to ask for the cheese dip I was supposed to get that was barely on it. Been a loyal customer since high school. They don't have salsa and chips with togo orders anymore unless u pay $4 even though it is free dine in. Might not be worth your time anymore. Also update steak so over cooked a few pieces were CRUNCHY!

With all the 5 star reviews and the love on Yelp!, I had high expectations for Yellow Cactus. Judging by the Friday dinner crowd, we were off to a great start. The interior is welcoming, the. restaurant is clean and we were seated promptly. A server was Johnny on the spot with chips and salsas. One salsa was mild and the other had just a touch of heat. The menu is expansive. But sadly, our food was underwhelming. My wife's chicken enchiladas with mole was flavorless. The chicken was dry and the mole sauce was woefully thin and failed to cover the enchiladas. Chicken fajitas? Served sizzling with flour tortillas, lots of grilled veggies and overcooked chicken. Yellow Cactus only serves refried beans. No boracho. No charro. No black beans. I don't get it. Our friends fared better. The chimichanga was large, filled with ground beef and smothered in cheese & gravy. The big winner was the el patron steak burrito. That disappeared. Portions are generous. Service is very good. And prices are a tad high, but not oppressive. But the Yellow Cactus needs to improve their food quality to be worthy of those very generous 5 star reviews.

I have been a loyal Cactus fan from the start but after today I don't think I will be able to convince my husband to go back. The prices have gone up in my opinion pretty substantially. The chicken fajita quesadilla is now $16.99..... granted it is huge now but I just wanted my $12.99 size. A soft taco is $3.99 and an a la carte chicken burrito is $8.99. Holy Smokes. Oh..... I ordered a side of ranch dressing which I don't mind paying a little extra for but they charged us this time $1.50. BUT the kicker is the surcharge they now charge. They have a sign posted and I asked what it exactly meant..... they had no idea. I'll post that picture as well. I guess we will travel to Puerta Vallarta next time. Such a shame....

The vegetarian options were great. There is so much to choose from The salsa with the chips is nothing like I have ever had before and there are 3 options served The portions were very large. Today is Cinco de Mayo and I was feeling up to a delicious authentic Mexican meal. This restaurant has a variety of various Mexican dishes and albeit is rather pricey for their platters, which range from $19-$29 and appetizers from $8-$22. Also surprisingly I didn't find any sort of dessert at all unless there is a separate menu for that but I was never told that by my server, more on that later. The environment is one you'd expect of any authentic Mexican restaurant, a very colorful decor with lots of Mexican decor spread throughout with some Mexican music playing in the background to set the ambiance of this establishment granted I was sitting in the background of the seating area and couldn't hear this music if I were sitting in the front. On this visit, being my first, I decided to try the Nachos Delicias (Queso, tomato, onions, cilantro, sour cream and choice of chicken, chorizo and steak) I requested no onions and steak. I also tried their Quesadilla El Jefe Jeff (Stuffed with cheese, steak, shrimp, chicken, chorizo, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and sour cream) I requested no onions. The nachos were really nothing too terribly special outside of just being put in a somewhat fancy bowl to make them look or appear better than they were. They didn't taste too bad outside of finding the steak to not really be all that flavorful or seasoned. I feel for the price which was $18.50, that it could've been more for what I paid for. The quesadilla was absolutely worth it and was quite filling. Definitely the star of this meal however I was disappointed to find onion in my meal when I specifically requested there to not be. Outside of that is was quite good and something I'd order again. My biggest issue was there was only one server working and of all days it was on Cinco de Mayo which you as a Mexican restaurant should expect to be busy in which they were. Our server never once stopped to ask if we needed anything, no offer of dessert (which I am still not sure they offer) or even to ask if I wanted another drink. I don't see myself going out of my way to come here albeit it wasn't awful but the price for things was too much in my opinion. I feel that I've had better food for a lower price at other authentic Mexican restaurants. So just keep this in mind when deciding to stop here.

The decor was fun with painted murals and designs covering every surface. I especially liked all the "climbing men" stationed around at various places. Agave & Rye Tequila and Bourbon Hall is mainly a taco place with a few other menu items. The tacos are not your usual run of the mil tacos and there are many delicious variations to choose from. Being a non-drinker, I can't give you any info on the alcohol, but they seem to be pretty proud of it. We did happy hour, 5$ mocktails, Pick 3 Chips and Dips, 15$, and the Three Taco Flight, 12$. It was plenty of food for the two of us and Eveything was delicious. We left just enough room for the huge piece of Chocolate Cake, $14. We ate the bottom two tiers and took the rest home. Yum. Kyondre (Dre) was our server. What a delightful young man. He was very helpful and pleasant, while checking in on us frequently. IMHO, Agave & Rye is well worth a visit.

The pick your 3 mini tacos is a good experiment with the different flavor options. Yoda taco- play on kung pao chicken- has the heat from the sauce, while the egg fried rice holds it together with the crunch of the peanuts. For a plain chicken taco - I would suggest the Chipotle Chika - honey comes thru with the chicken while the queso brings the rich and creamy flavors Service is lacking a bit- and hard to get refills on drinks. Overall a solid 3/5 for a small local restaurant.
