Two other reputable ride services were also not available - Lyft won't carry teens without parents and HopSkipDrive does not allow for late reservations. She could have driven herself, but I was not ready for her to do this yet. LOL! I looked on Yelp and found Dave. Not only did he drive her from Huntington Beach to LA with less than two hours notice, he was so nice about it. He kept me informed and my daughter said he was very friendly and professional. It cost more than rideshare options, but it was so worth it! I highly recommend Dave and would trust him with my kiddo again! We will definitely be back.

Two weeks ago, I arranged for a 2:15 return from the Pavilions pharmacy. When late, I was unable to reach a live person. 45 minutes late, my driver arrived. Had I known, I could have walked home in less than 35 minutes. Today, I placed a request for a 2:15 pickup to take me to my dentist for a 2:40 appointment time. It's only a 7 minute drive (2.4 miles) for which I allotted 30 minutes time. When no driver text assignment appeared, I phoned dispatch to inquire why and said, "if you are short on driver's, let me know now as I'm still in time to bike to my appointment." The dispatcher expressed astonishment. Did he imagine that an old person could not ride a bike? He said he would send dispatch a note. That was not helpful, since I knew not whether to wait for a driver or bike. I checked Lyft and learned I could have a pickup in 3 minutes. Before confirming, I phoned Yellow Cab to cancel, but dispatcher couldn't find my ride request, causing me to lose the nearest available Lyft driver and ultimately miss my appointment. I surmise that since my city, RSM, began limiting senior rides to only the city limits, whereas previously most all of So Cal was covered, Yellow Cab no longer views the Senior Mobility account as profitable. Understandable, but they should renegotiate their contract or advise customers to allow for up to a 90 minute window pickup to ensure that disabled and/or senior customers can keep their appointments.
