In town for work and had some time to kill before meeting some coworkers for dinner, so I decided to stop in here for a couple of beers. The brewery is in what used to be a train station, and shares space with a restaurant called White Duck Taco. There is a long bar with plenty of seating, and several tables as well. There is also a nice sized outdoor patio area with seating and fire pits. The place has lots of character! There is a distinct lack of adequate parking though, when I was there the place was about half full and I still had a hard time finding a parking space. I did not order food while I was there, so I can't comment on that, but the beer was pretty good. I have tried their Dunkel before and found it to be a great representation of the style, on this visit I tried the Gruit and the Scottish 80 Shilling, both were quite good. Overall, the place was great and I look forward to visiting Yee Haw again next time I am in Johnson City! read more

Second time here and we still love it. Enjoying the open air experience from the large windows. Sit inside or outside under the covered patio area and watch the cars drive by any the rain pour down hard. Enjoyed an Oktoberfest bier while watching baseball on the tv. Really good Scotch Ale. Some dark chocolate notes, coffee and creaminess. This place is right next to a taco place so you get the best of both worlds. They have two different Scotch Ale's, their higher ABV one was my favorite. All in all, great brewery and we hope to be back one day. read more

So I stumbled across Yee-Haw Brewing for the first time this weekend while I was on a visit to JC. It's kind of hard to miss if you're in the downtown area and we figured we'd give it a try. The building, setup and atmosphere are darn near perfect. There is indoor and outdoor seating of all sorts and varieties (tables, couches, a bar, high tops, etc.). There are games located in the back to occupy kids (or drunk adults). And probably my favorite feature was the fact that they had multiple TVs tuned into college football. They scored a lot of points there as most breweries that I've been to don't really cater to that crowd. The beer itself is OK but I didn't find anything that I really loved. Another really awesome part of the setup is that they are connected to White Duck Taco which is a great place to eat. I really loved the feel of the place and the environment they created. It's got a lot of personality and I'd absolutely return if given the chance. read more

Covid 19 is keeping us away from many places, because we're taking it seriously...and we don't want to die yet. Now, just a little bit of a back story. Amongst other things, we own a liquor store and we sell Yee Haw beers. Lat year, before the coronavirus, we were in Europe and, while we were in Germany, I fell in love with Dunkel beer. I'm not much of a drinker and I often drink non alcoholic brews. But, while visiting our store (we have the world's best manager) I saw 'DUNKEL' on a green tin on one of the beer shelves. So, just to prove the cultural cringe is still alive and well, I proclaimed German Dunkel as the world's best beer and no local show could possibly match it blah, blah, blah. Well, I was wrong. I bought a six pack to give it a shot. It is the equal of any dunkel made anywhere, in any dark corner of Deutchland, no matter what they say. Yee Haw Dunkel is exceptional in every respect and while I don't know much about the bars at their small brewery, I now sell the hell out of their dunkel in our little shop'. 'So what', you say. Well I'll tell you what. I know a thing or three about beer (after all, I'm an Aussie) and I recommend Yee Haw Dunkel without reservation. This is a local company, employing locals, with a reportedly great venue in Johnson City, and they make one of the world's best beers! So there. read more

After seeing this brewery featured on a television program, my wife and I went to investigate personally. This is a perfect venue for a brewery. It's a wonderful and unique historical all-brick building in the heart of Johnson City. It's very spacious and has many different types of indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate any type of group. We ordered our lunch at the White Duck Taco Shop adjoining the brewery, and then ordered our beer. They have a wide selection on draft to please almost any taste. It's not too loud, and my wife and I had a relaxing time just hanging out and having a casual lunch. It's definitely a place to go when in Johnson City. read more

Come into the Johnson City area every now and then to hike, and today we stopped at Yee-Haw Brewing for a few drinks (and snacks at the accompanying White Duck Taco that is in the same building). Great beer and a very comfortable taproom. Not a ton of traffic on a Monday, but that might be different closer to the weekend. All in all a great experience, and will certainly be back. read more

We dropped in at a low peak hour for a quick afternoon brew. You have to walk through another establishment to cross over to Yee Haw. I really enjoyed the ambiance, decor looked industrial with a flare of the modern Southern bars that are in style. Deceptively roomy inside. The bartender was friendly and engaging, gave us a good recommendation based on what type of beer we like. We opted to sit outdoors in the shade and enjoy our selection. The beers were tasty. Was coming here to have a few drinks after work. Apparently the bartender with a terrible smokey eye is also the parking attendant because she wasn't happy where I found myself parking, which was in accordance with all posted signage, before she ran off the bars patio to come to the parking lot and snap that I couldn't park there. I said ok to which she got even more rude stating they tow before whipping her nasty attitude back around to go back inside. Left a bad taste in my mouth especially since she would be serving me. And her man walking out to assist her in telling me where to park was also not comfortable. I wasn't rude at all. My only response to her was ok. Don't recommend. read more

My husband and I went with some friends to try this brewery. I was pleasantly surprised that a restaurant was attached beside it because I usually get the munchies when I'm drinking! The bartender was friendly and informative. At the time we went, it wasn't crowded and parking was easy to find. However, I imagine on a night that there's lice music it may be more difficult getting in. We ordered the flight, not knowing for sure what we wanted. I am usually a wheat beer kind of lady, but they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. The bartender recommended several other beers. The beer was good, but not my absolute favorite (I really liked some Indiana and Florida breweries while I lived there). I'll definitely be back because I enjoyed the atmosphere :) read more

Enjoy craft brews in a setting that formerly housed The Eastern Tennessee & Western North Carolina Depot. Said railroad was nicknamed the "Tweetsie" in reference to the sound of its steam whistles, and it was established in 1866 for the primary purpose of servicing the mines in Cranberry, North Carolina. The ET&WNC was soon called the "Railway with a Heart" by locals, as railroad personnel often performed errands for residents. During the Great Depression, they allowed passengers to ride for free, and tickets were even validated with a heart-shaped punch. One of the original engines, number 12, was purchased by Gene Autry with the intent to transport it to California for use in future Western films. Instead, after a lengthy restoration, the locomotive was returned to North Carolina in May 1957; it was one of the original pieces on display when the Tweetsie Railroad opened later that summer as the state's newest travel attraction and family theme park. While the unique history and ambiance make for a nice space in which to meet family and friends, the beer served up here is of the subpar variety. Lots of folks say good things about the Dunkel, but I tend to favor beers featuring copious amounts of the flowers of the hop plant Humulus lupulus, which in Latin means something akin to extremely delicious. That being said, I've never had a good IPA here. Thus, if I were to rate YH solely on the quality of beer on offer, I would give them 2 stars. However, I have to give kudos to management and staff for creating a safe space in which to enjoy tasty tacos & brews, during such an unprecedented time. By employing social distancing (to include removing stools from the bar area), sanitizing between customers, and having all staff & customers wear masks, they are setting an example of how to operate effectively and responsibly during the current covid crisis. No one in Johnson City is currently doing a better job. read more

Yee-Haw Brewing company is located on Buffalo St in Johnson City. The brewery is located in in the renovated ET & WNC rail depot (aka Tweetsie depot). The co-founder of Ole Smokey Tennessee Moonshine used its run away success to revitalize one of Johnson City most historic buildings and open a brewery. In the summer of 2015 Yee-Haw began brewing beer which is "bold and flavorful, but easy to drink." Yee-Haw has four year round brews including their World Beer Cup award-winning Dunkel, as well as various seasonal beers. Yee-Haw brewing company is a great place to grab a drink solo or as a group. Yee-Haw has a very spacious and comfortable outdoor patio. Plush outdoor seating and a massive fire pit. The interior is filled with the natural charm of the historic rail depot. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The brews are great and it's hard to pick a favorite. Try a flight of 3 craft beers for six bucks. Then hang out and play some ski-ball or corn-hole. If you imbibe a few to many of their brews Yee-Haw also has a White Duck Taco inside the brewery. Yee-Haw is a great idea for a weekend trip and is only about 90 miles from Knoxville. I highly recommend visiting the brewery. If you're interested in seeing how the beers are made, check out the website to see if tours are running again. My family and I are big fans of Yee-Haw Brewing ever since they opened up and got connected with the big racetrack across town. We make a plan to stop every time we are in town for the races - twice a year. That never seems like enough, but thankfully we can purchase six packs to take back home. They have their four standard brews and several rotating brews based on the season. The staff is very friendly and always willing to answer questions about the beer if you are having trouble making a decision. Then again, if your can't make a decision there is always the four beer flight option! The building is very well done in a rustic style. Plenty of seating indoor and out, as well as lots of fire pit action for those cold visits. Gotta love the complimentary popcorn to snack on while consuming the devil juice. They have also recently started a late night bar food appetizer menu. Great beer, YEEHAW!!!! read more

my boyfriend and I were visiting Johnson City for the weekend and stopped by YEE-Haw brewing while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. The atmosphere here was very warm and pretty much your typical brewery. They are connected to a taco / small bites restauarant which is nice - you can get food and drinks! There is a large fire pit outside and nice outdoor seating. This was a plus!! A downside is that there was only a small selection of beers and a flight of 4 was a bit pricier than what I've seen.
