three plates of food on a table
    Jane M.

Had dinner on our 1st night in Montreal. Food was surprisingly good considering it had a very pub like vibe. Pourine had much flavor with lots of gravy and cheese curds. Buffalo wings were good too but they charge an extra $2 for a small(very) serving of bleu cheese. Guess this is a Canadian thing. Braised beef was good but the beef portion was really small. Service was good

My brother and I were in town for a hockey game. We were staying across the street and wandered across to find this gem. The food and wait staff is wonderful. I only wish I could pick it up and take it back home

Not my favourite location. Came for a 5 a 7 and of course to chow down on some wings. We split a plate of a few of them they were meaty and cooked really well. You can pick to have your sauce on the side or the wings tossed in sauce. Burger is very big and hearty which was alright but the fries were half cooked and thrown in with older ones which was terrible I couldn't eat them poubelle. Service was great really nice girl kept coming by every time our beers were done. Beer... they have no pitchers for 5 a 7 boooo! And the beers they do have $5 are meh. For $6 you can get a shocktop wayyy better. Nice place nice staff but beers were meh and the french fries were terrible and we later discovered that after eating here we were both sick as it's the only thing we ate that day. Would come back but just for drinks and wings.

It's always too quiet when we go. It's not a dive, but it kinda feels like one 'cuz of the lack of ppl most times. Set up a bit strange too (on the narrow with weird sections of tables) but ok. Food is good, decent pricing for bar eats. My brekkie I ordered last time, just plain ol bacon and eggs, was cooked to perfection exactly how I asked for it. Service is great and friendly and sweet. However unfortunately the last time we were there they would not put the sound on for Alouettes playoff game! The Alouettes make it to the playoffs once or twice a freaking decade and they were sweet to at least put the game ON for us, but no sound for a playoff game blows! We were told if the majority of patrons asked for the sound on then she could, but that otherwise she would get in trouble from the manager who was watching the cameras. At one point only us (a table of 4) and 1 other dude all watching the game asked and she said she texted the manager to see if it was ok, but sound was never put on. Even after a couple more tables arrived and clearly were watching the game too, but still no sound, so by halftime we decided to leave to find a better spot watch the game. I like the spot n' the concept, there's just not a very good party vibe goin on here unfortunately.

    Cheers!

Was there for brunch on Sunday Nov 9 Do try the Irish French Toast (made with Bailey's ... genius!) Good selection of Irish and imported beers and friendly service. Solid overall. Note however Ye Olde is not a sports bar (which is fine), volume was not available for the Al's game, which is only reason we left.

Came here for a happy hour on a Wednesday and it was realllllllly empty. We got a pretty good corner table though so sweet! My boyfriend and I only came in to grab an entree and a drink before heading out to do some errands but the food was so good and the service so pleasant that we stayed all evening. I initially ordered the Caesar salad as an entree and my boyfriend got the onion rings. I enjoyed my salad a lot, it was creamy and crunchy. I didn't like the croutons though but you can just skip those and just eat the salad. The onion rings were good too but I felt they were too soft, I like onion rings really crispy. My boyfriend doesn't so he loved them. He ordered another batch and we got the pound of chicken wings to share and replaced the fries with a side of salad (I wanted more!). We got the wings with the honey garlic sauce. They weren't too spicy but they were a bit too sour for me which was weird. The chicken was really good though so I just scrapped off the sauce. I really liked it here, prices were very decent and the server that we had was so nice! I had a great time here and I know I would come again! The beer for happy hour was 6$ for a pint I believe. The salad as an entree is 6$, onion rings 7$, pound of chicken wings 18$.

Oh man gawd! I can't even remember the last time I went to a pub! And no.. this is not a mommy brain issue here lol! I've been a couple times BACK THEN.. on the location in monkland! However this is my first time at this place.. we originally came here for paint night! The place is fairly big and the staff is so nice and friendly! I love their uniforms and how authentic this place is. We were able to order food and drinks through out the paint night event which was so cool! The service was really great! We started off with the basics of gin seven and then switched over to apple cider beer! I'm new to this world of beers so is it just cider?! Not sure! Anyways it was DELICIOUS!!! Then we ordered WINGS! .. where have they been my entire life?! They were just perfect and crispy.. at this point I didn't even care what the hell i was painting i just wanted all the wings in the world from this place! I am definitely coming back for more cider & wings!!!

This place is a really solid Montreal pub. It seems to have gotten bigger since the last time I was here. (or maybe, my memory is failing me given this is a place to park yourself and down multiple pints of beer) I ordered some wings with their kick-ass sauce as well as some extra honey garlic sauce on the side. This was a good call. Because the kick ass sauce is listed as the spiciest option, I was expecting more pain than flavour. I was happy that this wasn't the case. The sauce has a great bite that will get you releasing those happy endorphins, but the pain doesn't linger long and is washed down easily with a sip of beer. Add the requisite blue cheese dressing with the huge carrots and celery, and this is one of the better plates of wings in the city. They are large, juicy, and very lightly fried. I then had the bacon and blue cheese burger which was substantial and satisfying. The burger won't win any awards, but for a downtown pub, it's solid and pairs really well with a good pint of lager. Service was extremely efficient despite the place being packed right before a Habs game. Next time, I've got to try the curry sauce poutine which I saw the guy next to me eating. It looked f%@$ing massive and delicious.

We returned here for after supper drinks and our server Raphaelle was super. If you come here sit in her section. She will give you tips on drinks and she is super friendly and bubbly

This time we had appetizers. The wings, jalapeño poppers and nachos were really good. The calamari and cauliflower were ok.

I really love this pub! I've been here a handful of times - usually with a large group for some drinks. I like that it's in a basement on De La Montagne street, away from the hustle of Bishop and Crescent bars. During one of my recent visits, I discovered that one of their chefs is Sri Lankan and they therefore make really flavourful (and somewhat spicy) food like curries and chicken tikka. Their service is friendly and efficient, and love the fact that the guys wear kilts! I was there last Friday night with a large group for game night (we were 10). We got a good corner at the back of the pub at 6pm and good thing we did because this place gets really crowded and loud on a Friday. Some of us ordered dinner; I got the chicken tikka wrap, which is served with fries (average) and a curry carrot soup (spicy and delicious). The chicken tikka was so flavourful, really enjoyed my meal. They have a happy hour from 4-7pm so we were able to take advantage of the good prices on beer and cider. Had a blast and would go back!

Well this was a second time after a rather long time. On Saint Patrick day about 11pm we decided to have dinner and a beer in an Irish bar! There wad a line at the entrance. It was terribly cold outside. We were told it takes an hour to get a table for six. Almost disappointed, few minutes later, just when we were leaving, the guy called us in and said he has a table for us. Guess what, there were many free tables Whether the guy was joking or not we had a lot of fin. A pint of Guinness, beef pie with mashed potato and great company. What else do you need?! I recommend the place, but insist to get in if you were told the bar is full

I'm in Montreal 'til Thursday. I felt like having supper at a pub so I walked to Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill (a 20 minute walk from my hotel). I was there in December and enjoyed it. My Griffon Blonde was good. When I got there about 6ish, it was fairly quiet. I ordered what I ordered the last time ... wings with medium sauce. The last time I was there some of them were a bit undercooked. This time it seemed like they'd been cooked and were sitting around for a while (or overcooked) and sauce added to heat them up. The fries were good and I ate about a third of them. It got busy after a while.

Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.

Horrible service. They didn't let 3 of my peers with REAL ID in the club. And when my friend…read moreconfronted them, the next time she came in they told her she was "the bitch with the attitude". Tremendously rude bouncers. Don't recommend.

It's a fairly large space with seating out front as well as a downstairs bar area and an upstairs area that then opens up to a small backyard area! The music was pretty ok, nothing I wouldn't expect from a local bar. However, on the Sunday night I was there, there was a live singer/guitarist in the main area, which candidly I could have done without. Lots of TVs with sports on to watch. The staff was nice as well and I enjoyed wine, an espresso martini and a very large glass of cider. I'm writing this review mainly because this might have been some of the best poutine I've ever had, flavor wise. The curry was really something and we ate every last fry and piece of cheese. I would come back here just for their poutine.

Irish eateries in M cities - 2 of 2…read more I have always wanted to eat Irish food in Montreal. Montreal has had a thriving Irish community centered mostly in Pointe-Charles but, like other European groups, they've disbanded little by little and moved further out or to exurbia. I have an acquaintance with immigrant Irish parents whose family moved from Montreal to Chateauguay on the Rive Sud, which is practically in New York state! I once found an Irish pub (that's still there) located on St.-Denis, practically across from Pizzeria dei Compari. Their menu has always seemed spotty because they appear more focused on the pub than on the eatery. (Sure, the mark-up is better on booze than on food they have to cook.) Thus, it was back to the drawing board. I did find a place on the west side, in the Financial District and near McGill. Its name is McKibbin's Irish Pub and it's on Rue Bishop. I was excited that they featured shepherd's pie (which I was looking for), but not expecting too much. I did order it, along with a cup of coffee. The shepherd's pie was good, but not up there with some of the memorable ones I've eaten. Shepherd's pie that is just good is where the meat is by far the dominant flavor. The ones that are excellent have a more cohesive flavor, where you seemingly taste all of the ingredients simultaneously. I don't know if those are big shoes to fill since some restaurants have delivered. The service was indeed amicable and I got zero attitude for ordering coffee in a pub. The price was fair in the context of being in the Financial District. While there's nothing wrong with it, McKibbin's is not my cup of tea, either. It's darker and parts of it are louder because of the music and/or karaoke. For the quiet I was seeking, I sat in another area. Note that, like many restaurants in this area and on nearby Rue Crescent, they are up a short flight of steps from the sidewalk. It had snowed some and there was some slush on the steps. So, whether you're 25, 55, or 85, hold on to the railing. If I'm craving Irish food, it's to eat. I'm probably better off going to an Irish restaurant during the lunch hour. Again, McKibbin's is perfectly fine if you like Irish and pub food together with libations and the general ambiance. Since I'm not a Montrealer (shucks), I doubt I'll be going back. There are foods and ambiances in which to eat that I prefer more ... and that list in Montreal might be limitless. McKibbin's on Rue Bishop has a solid following and it's shown by reviews and ratings that are good.
