Lovely friendly atmosphere, we got a warm welcome when we arrived. They do a good range of food served Mon-Sat 12pm -8pm and Sunday Lunch 12pm - 3pm. I have not tried a Sunday lunch yet but have been midweek when the food was lovely, generous portions! I thought the cost of the main meals were very good and were what I expect from a local pub. Talking to the lady behind the bar she informed us that they have just added some B&B accommodation, this will come in handy for relatives visiting us from Yorkshire, a bit different from the usual premier inn. The pub itself has a very nice lounge, very relaxing with fireplace. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and this has a warm atmosphere. There is a separate bar area which also has a nice feel to it. I will come back here again, and although I do not live in Ellington, i wish this was my local! Plenty of parking outside the pub. They stock a complete array of local ales and if you look on the ceiling you will find all the different locally brewed brands they have had. The food is great, never had a meal we could complain about, lovely baked goats cheese starter, seafood broth, and of course, all locally caught. Recommended with a great and very brisk walk along the sands with views of Dunstanburgh castle. Fantastic photo opportunities abound here. There is a bar area, and a room off to the side with leather chairs and sofas and a TV. At the other end of the pub there is an extensive dining area and the pub does seem heavily geared towards dining. We had just popped in for a beer and there was Black Sheep and Old Speckled Hen on both of which were very pleasant. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we spent a relaxing and very enjoyable hour there.

Very different to anything I have had before! For my main I opted for the beef and goats cheese burger complete with homemade fries. The burger was fantastic with the strong cheese accompaniment it was very tasty. We left stuffed and with the satisfaction of real value for money - this place probably wouldn't be on your radar but worth a visit for real good home-cooked food.

We were planning to stop and eat here, and it was certainly worth pushing on. It was very nice to sit down, relax, and have some good food and drink before pushing on. We had an excellent lunch. The pub standards were all available, as well as several soup selections, salads, etc. They also had a very good beer and ale selection. Although unadvertised, there are several picnic tables out back for use at no charge. You also don't have to buy food from the pub to use them.
