I had the soles break in half on my treasured pair of Mexican huaraches. The cobbler finished the work sooner than his estimate, which I appreciated. I paid $9 for those shoes originally. Had the good fortune to meet JC, the Owner/Craftsman from Ye Olde Cobbler Shoppe. I brought him three pairs of boots all in need of heel repairs. Although Jerry could have taken my money, he provided the sound advice of stating that the same issue would occur again on two of the pairs and suggested I not bother fixing them. He could address the issue with the last pair and explained how he would do it. I reluctantly let him know I was leaving town on a vacation and requested the work be done this week. He commented that he was also leaving for a vacation the next day however offered to make the repair the same day. I picked up the shoes later in the afternoon and they look like new. Very pleased with the service. And JC is a great guy to boot! read more

Used to be a good shop. I brought several pairs of shoes to stretch, and dealt with the new owner. Stretch was not successful--in all wrong places. He doesn't mark the shoe where it needs to be stretched. Refused to make a refund, and refused to make corrections to the stretch! Besides, the charges are $30 per pair, twice as much as in other places in the area. read more

Sent a pair of cowboy boots in to be resoled a while back. $125 repair. Poor job; not complete. Came apart quickly, in fact I don't think they were ever redone as one would expect for repair of that cost. Sent them back and he said "these aren't the boots I fixed". That irked me right away, because of course they were. He put some sort of tap on the bottom (and acted like it was a big favor). The tap came off the first time I wore them. I finally gave up and bought a new pair. That said, I would not recommend them for any quality work. I loved those boots and it was a huge and expensive disappointment. read more

These guys rock! I stopped in to get a hat repaired; yes a hat because no one else in town could/would do it. They not only fixed it quickly but did it perfectly. While I was picking up my hat, I showed Jerry a snap button on my motorcycle vest that would not snap tightly. Jerry fixed it while I waited so I could wear my vest home. Again he not only fixed it quickly but better than new. They are not only masters of their craft, but they are professional, courteous, and super friendly. They make you feel like family. The place is now called Ye Olde Cobble Shoppe. He's super friendly and does a great job repairing shoes and boots. I've had Birkenstocks fixed and a pair of boots re-heeled. He has the prices above the counter so there's no surprises. read more

The reviews I read were right! Amazing work! I took in three pair of higher end boots, one for touch ups/cleaning and the other two with scuffed toes and heels damaged from escalators/sidewalk cracks in LA. They all look stunning! Drove from Grants Pass to Ashland and took in 4 belts to be shortened on 4/16. Promised by 4/30. Drove to Ashland on Monday 5/10 to pick-up. Shoppe closed. Website and business card said open Mondays. Jerry said hadn't changed information yet. Drove back and picked up belts on 5/14 after waiting one month. 2 belts were 1" too short; 1 belt buckle was put on backwards and 1 OK. 6 trips total. Called to have corrected on 6/4. Still have not heard from as at 6/9. Next time I'm going to a shoe repair in Medford. read more

The sole on one of my UGG boots had come apart, so I went to Jerry's Ye Olde Cobbler Shoppe to see if he could repair it. He said that he could glue the sole back together, but that it would be better to replace both soles with new ones. His quote wasn't cheap, but neither were the UGG boots. I decided to go with the new soles. Jerry said that it would take a couple of weeks before he could finish them. A couple weeks later, I had my newly soled boots. Jerry is a craftsman and does quality work. I would recommend him. read more
