I have brought in several watches dear to me for new batteries. Less than a year one of the watches stop working. They were kind enough to replace the battery for no charge... I have also bought a watch from them. So, I have no complaints about battery changing services, however, today Saturday, it's 11:15 and the shop is not open. I called, no answer. It would be nice if a posted sign or VM letting customers know that they will be closed... I would hate to see them closed down, but reading all of the reviews ( yikes) I would not bring cuckoo clocks, or big ben clocks here. So sad and scary for those customers who have waited for years for their items and no return!! They just got a quote on new bezel, so I pre-paid for the bezel and labor and shipping of watch to me in Nevada since I was leaving Tucson. They promised to ship watch with a week or so. After three years and eight months, I finally received my cuckoo clock back from the shop and only after repeated pressureand demand to return my clock. It is in a box and is completely disassembled. They didn't have the courtesy to put it back together. Plus, they refused to reimburse my deposit. Of note, they have dozens of clocks in boxes within this shop in a similar state. As I worked with owners Ashera and Scotty Dean - on short notice - to have Scotty disassemble, move, and reassemble a 200-year-old grandfather clock on Feb. 1, I was very impressed at their teamwork and great technical services. Do not enter this store. Should you want to have your watch repaired, expect the repair to take months. After waiting 4 months i received a phone call advising they had replaced the second hand on my watch and it was ready to pick up. They had had the part for the repair since mid-December. I learned this after leaving my watch there is October and stopping by to see if it was ready. After being less than courteous to me, the woman reluctantly dug through their mail deliveries and, they found my part had arrived. Who knows how long the delivery had set unopened? Their web-site says they open at 10:30 and their phone message says they open at 11:00 - if they open at all. We've gone to the store twice when it was supposed to be open and instead was closed, as it was again today. They do not answer their phone when you call, you cannot leave a message because their voice mail boxc is full. Stay away. If you leave an item with them, you may never get it back. read more

Terrible, should have taken up ditch digging-had clock for three years!!!! Never called us; told us at one point that an employee had thrown out our clock parts. Told us his was looking for necessary parts. Never called us. Finally, after threatening legal action, said he could repair with battery operated mechanism! Agreed, just to end this situation; then argued about price of repair saying he did not want to take a charge card because extra fees. Got it home, opened the back-stuffed with wadded up paper towels, wires dangling, everything loose or disconnected. The battery operated mechanism was obviously used, but paid full price for it. For a number of years, I've had batteries replaced in 2 old Seiko watches. at Ye Olde Clock Shoppe. A few years back, I took my commemorative gold Rolex in for a cleaning. When I got it back, I couldn't adjust the day/date setting. I took it back and they fixed it. OTOH I've not used this store since. In addition, their Hours are totally confusing . . . They are sometimes overwhelmed with so many jobs and trying to find stuff to do batteries. I found out they are a couple and put everything they can into the shop. I heard the clock Smith also does house calls and is wonderful. Loves pets? So, I finally got my Black Forrest Cuckoo Clock back from the shop, after 16 months. But, here's the thing. They could not find the original hands that were with it, so they had to put different ones on. They could not find the back to it, so it is bare. They could not find the original pendulum so they put a different one on. They could not even find the work order. So they replaced (and lost) parts to my original clock and replaced them with different pieces. What did they do with the originals? However, they did not charge us for losing our pieces and for taking 16 months to get it back to us. read more

"Ye Olde Clock Shoppe" (YOCS) in Tucson has to be the most conceited small business in town. I took my Cuckoo clock (prior to moving) to get it's 5-year cleaning and oiling done. Made it clear that I was moving the end of March and if it couldn't be done to have them call me and I would come get it. Plus, I gave them a $50 deposit. God forbid that someone at the YOCS pick up the phone and call me to let me know they couldn't get to it. Last Friday (3/25), being hopeful that no one had called me that perhaps my Cuckoo clock just might be ready. After the guy at YOCS looked through all the receipts of open and closed orders and wondering around the YOCS he found my precious Cuckoo clock still in the "to-do" pile. Now look closely at my receipt from when I dropped it off. It is written . . . NOTE: CUST MOVING END OF MARCH! CALL IF WE CAN'T DO BY THEN!". Fair enough since the wait time for their valuable service can take 3-6 months. I reminded him what we had discussed and what "HE" himself wrote on the ticket. Get this. This is what he said to me after I asked why I wasn't given a COURTESY call. "We just don't have the staff to make phone calls". Can you believe it? I guess no one on staff at the YOCS has ten fingers to dial a phone. FYI, their doors are closed on Thursday so they can just work on clocks and not have to deal with walk-ins. Once I got home with my clock Terry notice they had taken the back off, tagged every piece and left it as is. Other than not having 10 fingers to dial a phone it doesn't appear that anyone there can read a work order. Such arrogance! I left with my clock and my $50 refund. We have visited YOCS three times for three separate watch issues and have never had a bad experience. Everyone in the shop is friendly, helpful & extremely knowledgeable. I noticed many of the complaints on here are from ppl who don't wear masks. Every store/shop/business, etc. has the right to ask their patrons to wear a mask. If you choose not to wear a mask that's on you, not the shop. "No mask, no service". It's the same as "no shirt, no shoes, no service". And funny enough, I was at the YOCS today, discussing the options for my hubby's watch & in came a man with his young son sans masks. The employee asked very politely if the man had a mask & the man rudely replied "no, I don't drink the cool aid" and then the man stood inside the store (without a mask) and continued to speak... even after his blatantly rude comment, holding out his watch band asking if they remove links from bands. The employee was extremely polite & responded with "yes, we do work like that"... and the man rudely responded w. "but you won't allow it unless we wear a mask & I don't drink the cool aid, so I'll take my business elsewhere". I could careless if ppl are pro mask or anti mask, all I care is be respectful. It clearly states on the front door "mask required". Also, many complain about the length of time it takes to get their item returned. Maybe it's only been my experience, but every single time I've been in the YOCS it's been busy. Soooo.... If a shop is busy, wouldn't that explain the wait. Also, if you are on a time crunch (that's your problem not theirs) then it's your responsibility to check in on your clock/watch/time piece. Anyhoo.... I would warn everyone to stay as far away from this place as you can. Here is my latest tale of woe. I took in a German mechanism wall clock for service and cleaning in August of 2018. During the ensuing 6 (yes 6) months I called several times to inquire about it. Never got a return call or even an acknowledgement that I had inquired. Finally went in to the shop in January of this year to see if they had done the service. They bumbled around through various stacks of paper and finally admitted that they couldn't find their service ticket - to say nothing of my clock!! About a week later I got a call saying that they had found the clock, that it had been serviced and that I could pick it up. Took it home and found that the chime no longer worked. Took it back and after three weeks they called and said that had been fixed and that I could pick it up. Picked it up, took it home and the clock mechanism no longer worked, it would start and run for two or three minutes then stop. At this point I decided these folks don't know what they are doing and would never go back. In addition to the total incompetence as to clock service that they exhibited, the so called customer service is laughable. Aside from little signs ("you want it when??" "I speak only to a customer a day, today is not your day" and others) posted by the front counter, they have a unique ability to completely ignore anyone who comes in, even if carrying a clock for repair. Frankly I have never stood in a store and been completely ignored for 20 minutes or more, and I never will again. As I said at the beginning, avoid these folks at all costs. There are good, reputable clock and watch repair shops in town - that's where my clock is right now. Use one of them, not these idiots. read more

My father bought a Herschede grandfather clock for my mother's birthday in 1975. I have only had it serviced at the house until one of the wires got tangled. Ye old clocks came out and took the inside of it. They said they were busy it would take about a mo. Asked me if I wanted to sell I said no. They said I had a Maserati of clocks. time goes by I keep asking when my clock will be ready. Finally I go in in person. I see my clock on the counter with the exact same damage. The owner says no that is someone's else's clock and precedes to give me a hug and says your clock will be ready next week. Well they deliver the clock and install from the front which they had to take out from the back. I am so happy I didn't realize it was not my clock right away. It wasn't as loud or clear sounding. They came out and adjusted the sound. Still not the same. I believe with all my heart they sold my clock and gave me a copy. Not a good one and charged me 2120.00 to make matters worse. They are crooks. Oh the owner before delivery also asked me if I wanted to "make sure it really was my clock". Why? Every time I hear this clock it makes me so sad that there are people like that. Waited 15 minutes in line to pick up a clock that was dropped off in July just for them to tell us that she didn't know if it was ready and couldn't go to check because they were busy. After I explained I was in town to help pick up for my mom who was recovering from surgery and this was a chance to pick it up she had no empathy and still wouldn't go even check to see what the status was with only two people waiting behind us. She even had my moms name listed wrong and when she tried to address her I just said her name was something different and she looked at me as if I was crazy. Apparently even after having two clocks repaired there we aren't worth looking into. The man behind the counter was very polite and honest which I really appreciated. This place is covered with clocks and watches, and the ticking was insane, kind of like a bad acid trip. I can't say enough about the Ye Olde Clock Shoppe. The ladies who own the shop couldn't have been nicer, more helpful and provided me with fast, competent workmanship. When I brought in my Oakley Blade II watch I was doubtful they could even repair the damaged band. Since the watch was circa early 2000's, with a proprietary silicon band, without any chance of a band replacement, they were my only hope in salvaging my coolest and all time favorite watch. Not only did they diagnose the problem,return to it me the following day, they also only charged me a fraction of what I would have been charged elsewhere. Kudos ladies! Good service, knowledgeable staff I left my Rolex with them for service. I was impressed with the service of the watch and the final result. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the experience. I do think they could do a little more in the way of backing their work in writing. I was a bit shocked that all I received with my watch upon return was a receipt, and the receipt mentions nothing of the service performed, nor does it even say the name of their business on it. Bought a watch battery several weeks ago here. Saw watch was losing time. Took watch back with receipt. Was told there's probably something wrong with my watch and wouldn't replace battery at no charge. I told them they did an expensive update on this watch a year ago. They said I would have to pay if I wanted another battery. I took the watch to Batteries Plus on 1st and Wetmore. They replaced battery and it's kept perfect time since. I would never go back to this Clock Shoppe. They are unfriendly and have signs all over the place telling you how restrictive they are. I was searching for a place where I could get a battery replaced on my Tissot wrist watch and found Ye Olde Clock. Some places charge $25 plus to change a battery for a watch. And many times you have to wait hours to get your watch back, or the next day. They were true to their awesome advertised price of $10 to replace a battery and I was in and out in 30 minutes. Really nice, honest people. And I have to mention that the very nice lady went above and beyond. She cleaned up the watch and got all the dust and particles in the back of the watch that is visible, but impossible to reach without taking the watch apart. Being out of town, I try to call to ask if they could have it ready by the end of August. They never returned the call. Don't take your clock to be repaired unless you don't mind waiting over 2 months to find out they haven't even started to repair it yet. Also don't expect anyone to return a voicemail left to get the status of the repair. I had to physically go in the shop and was treated like I had committed a crime when I asked for an update. The rudeness of the woman behind the counter was unreal and she became defensive the second I requested a repair status. I requested to get my clock back and she refused to look for it because she was too busy and said I would have to wait. I told her I was prepared to do so and that I had already waited two months, not to mention the 30 minutes in the lobby to be waited on.
