I had thought about eating YaYas for a while, but I wasn't sure about stopping after seeing the lowish rating. The parking lot was busy, though, and there has been a consistent line the whole time we've been here so you know something must be good! Happy to report we had a delicious 4-piece dinner. The chicken had the tasty cook I remember from a good marinade. It wasn't greasy and I was glad we chose to eat here. Mac & cheese was classic, and corn & peppers were a piquant complement. Flame broiled chicken was awful! The chicken had been grilled earlier and just tossed back on the grill before serving. The chicken was all dried out, brittle and tasted awful. A great take out spot or lunch spot. Their new location is in an old bank so they have drive thru now. Yayas has good options if you're looking for something quick like chicken plates, chicken sandwiches, chicken rice bowls and salads. I've been to yayas maybe like three times. Every time I am astounded just how helpful, chill, and personable the staff before. They always give great recommendations and are chatty and approachable. I find the portions at yayas kind of small. They're barely filling and I need to tell myself to order more than I think. This last time I ordered the "two piece" chicken plate but I should have gotten at least three. I got this today and the first few bites were so good that I stopped and put down my fork (it was hard) to snap a picture for a Yelp review...it was THAT Good. They have a drive thru-WIN. The guy was very friendly asked how I was doing. I ordered my food and it was ready within a min. Super fast, friendly service. And that doesn't compare to the deliciousness that was this salad. And they gave me two packets of dressing. I opened the salad up and thought oh dear 1 just isn't going to do it. Oh well too late. Nope they put two packets in. What a treat. So delicious. I used to work in Saginaw and would come to Yayas about once a week for lunch, and my meal was always ready for me by the time I got to the counter because he remembered what I wanted and prepared it when we saw my car! Decided to take a break from cooking. YaYa's seemed like it would be a nice change from our usual Chinese or Mexican takeout. What a disappointment. The employee was grumpy and unhelpful. The speaker was broken, so had to bend down to speak through the opening in the plexiglass. What a dumb design. The ordering and pickup would have been enough to take all enjoyment out of the meal, but it was only the beginning. The chicken was overcooked and dry, especially the cold shredded sandwich. The meat was so dry not even a full packet of YaYa's dressing could hide the dryness. The dinner was equally poor. I choked down the sandwich, but only because I hate to waste food and money. There were also a couple of minor disappointments. They were out of white meat and honey butter. The bread was the only good thing in the whole order. I was, however, disappointed to discover the flatbread wasn't really a pita. There was no pocket. It was simply a plain piece of flatbread. Overall, I have to give them no more than one star. We won't be going back to a place that gave us poor service and poor food. read more

I had the taste for flame broiled chicken today. The only place that I could think of was Yaya's. I drove over to Center Rd which is in the opposite way I as headed. Now mind you I haven't had this chicken in years. I arrived at the restaurant (which looked deserted). So I called and ask if they were opened. This should've been my first clue to not order anything from here. But I was told that they were opened until 8pm. Mind you there is only 1 other car in the parking lot. I go in and I check out the menu and decided to get a 2 piece chicken dinner, salad and veggies (just in case I didn't like the salad mix). My order was ready pretty quickly (which was great) because I was hangry!! I got in my car and headed home. On my ride home the food smelled burned, not flame broiled. When I opened to box to eat it, the chicken was old and hard. The salad mix was old and some pieces were brown. Well needless to say it was a complete waste of time, money and I won't be back. read more

Great local place. Quarter chicken charbroiled with many side options. Can also get wraps and salads of chicken that has been pulled off the bone. I usually get the 1/2 bird dinner, that comes with two sides (you can choose) along with a warmed pita bread and honey butter. Not very impressed with their food. Although their chicken is very flavorful, their side items are bland and boring. Additionally, I find it funny how their claim they use no oil or grease in preparing their chicken but then offer you a side of butter to slather on your pita. I don't usually write reviews but really have been having a good experience in this place for a while now and figured I should share. The food is good and the menu quite extensive. Every time my family and I come here, Derek is the one who helps us. His professionalism and super pleasant Behavior is what's driving me to write this review. We have been so pleased with his customer service. He always takes the time to explain the menu, gives advise, always has a nice word to say, remembers faces, and deals great with our no-always-so-cute 2-year-old.
