In my opinion Café Carmela is the best restraunt in the greater Philadelphia area. To start off the…read morefood is amazing. The quality that they provide every single time I step foot into that establishment is unparallel. Don Cheech's steak has the perfect ratio of cooper sharp to ribeye to the fried onions. The tender seeded roll is a fantastic touch to an already great sandwich. Another thing to point out is that the value of this place is insane. Right now Don Cheech's steak sits at $16.00 including tax. If you compare that to Angelos pizzerias "Cheesesteak" which is $21.06 including tax for an arguably inferior meal is mental. The service at Café Carmella is always personalized to you. They almost always take the time out of their day to recommend you something based on what else you have ordered which is extremely helpful if your indecisive. Another great thing to point out is the overly friendly environment that they provide. I've never seen a speck of dust or dirt in the place the countless of times that I have eaten here. Finally the location is ideal, If your like myself and you love a sweet treat after a great meal. Your in luck because the Huntingdon valley location sits directly next to a south Philly staple Johns water ice which is an authentic classic. Overall if you are even remotely in the area and your interested in having a high quality dining experience I highly recommend it.

Nice family vibe at Cafe Carmela on Philmont Avenue, Huntington Valley. While dinner is available,…read morethis is really a pizza/sandwich/cheesesteak house due to its relatively limited menu. Still we decided to share their American Boi Pizza and Carm's Parm Chicken with Drunken Rigatoni. The tomato pie was excellent (especially the first few slices right from the oven) which was perfectly crisp (no flop) and just the right char. It was superior to the parmigiana dinner platter, whose chicken was a bit dry due to being so thinly malleted and uncovered from lack of a fuller spoonful or two of red gravy. The Rigatoni was also in limited supply on the plate, but did hold the vodka blush well, which was pretty good. Service was exceptional, as our waitress engaged us warmly from welcome to final salutation. She was attentive and clearly took our satisfaction to heart. Five Star American Boi; Three Star Chicken Parm. No bread for the table. 3.5 Stars overall.

Maranucci's Deli serves one of the best sandwiches I've had in Philadelphia…read more This is likely to poke the cheesesteak or roast pork purist out there but I'm gonna say it anyways... The corned beef hoagie at Marinucci's Deli is incomparable. It is layered with paper thin slices that are rich but never heavy. The dressing is balanced, the coleslaw adds a nice tang, and the shredded lettuce brings a fresh crunch that ties it all together. That's not enough. If you're from Philly you know that none of the above matters if your bread sucks. Well... Marinucci's offers seeded and unseeded rolls that are incredible. Please join me in thanking baby Buddha for this crusty, chewy yet fluffy vessel of perfection. The hoagie is massive, about the length of two of my hands long, and consistently excellent from first bite to last. When I first unrolled the hoagie my immediate thoughts were that I would never finish this in one sitting. I was right but you do you boo. The service matches the quality. It is an old school deli line that moves fast, with orders handled quickly and accurately even during a rush. Key word is ACCURATELY. Who knew that in 2026 whether or not a business can make your order accurately would be a thing but here we are. It's an important mention because this little detail tells me that they actually give AF. Ambiance: think classic Philly deli but without the attitude or aggression. Add chips and rice pudding to complete your order :)

My wife and I have seen so many great reviews for Cafe Carmela and have been wanting to try it for…read morequite some time. The only problem is that it's not exactly convenient for us since we live in Jersey. Luckily for us, we wandered across the bridge and finally had the opportunity to give this place a try. We shared a cheesesteak with Cooper cheese and also ordered the Italiano chicken cutlet. Unfortunately, there was a little mix-up with our order, and instead of the chicken cutlet, we received the "Joey's Hot Honey." The cheesesteak was fantastic--packed with steak and cheese and served on a perfect seeded roll. And even though the Joey's Hot Honey wasn't what we ordered, it was absolutely delicious as well. We ended up taking it home with us, and after an hour-long drive, it was still delicious. We both agreed it probably would have been even better fresh off the grill. Mistakes happen, and honestly, I can't find it in my heart to give Cafe Carmela anything less than five stars. The food lived up to the hype, and we're glad we finally made the trip. Definitely worth the hype in my opinion. Five stars!

Its a good value, $16 for a heavy sandwich. 2 ppl or one obese person can be satisfied off it. Roll was decent but it got ruined from the large amount of seed oil they added into the cooking process. The roll actually split along the sides as i was eating it - violation. Grilled onions were under-cooked and way too many added. Customer service was good. Friendly ppl. Smells amazing in the restaurant. Provolone sharp is great. Much better option than cooper and its harder to find but Carmelas had it. Overall decent steak but it didnt meet expectations for me
