    Salad and yum yum sauce
    Faith K.

I have been coming to this place for years and they never disappoint. Inside and outside is always clean ! and for a seafood spot it always smells fresh. You never see a messy table or floor. The sauce flavors are always good spicy , mild , or hot , this is where I prefer to get all my seafood boils in this area. They give you a great amount for your money. They have a good house made yum yum sauce for salad that I wish was sold in the store. And another thing I like is the teriyaki sauce it's sweet and not too salty. Im a repeated customer here and I will continue to be the service is great ! this is an awesome place to eat .

Small inside was packed when I went so instead decided to order takeout. About 15 min wait ordered 1lb Dungeness crab 1/2 green mussels and shrimp. Came with potatos and corn and picked crack sauce. Everything was fresh and savory. The sauce was great. The legs cracked with not too much force so they were cooked right. Get the mussels to scoop the sauce!Better than other seafood boils spots I've tried and I highly recommend you give it a try.

BYOB- make sure you bring your own drinky drink with you. Parking-there's a big enough parking lot that houses plenty of other stores like a dispensary. Placed our order (Hibachi seafood fried rice w/o scallops) and the 2A combo with an extra 1/2lb of crabs legs w/garlic butter and Cajun rub. Our food came out in about 15 minutes which was great because we were starving and I've had a taste for Hibachi food recently. When the rice came it was cold, the only thing hot were the shrimp on top with the teriyaki sauce. The seafood was great, the seasoning tasted great with real garlic, I just wished that there was more corn pieces (at least 2). But the seasoning was so good I was slopping the potatoes and garlic in the sauce before eating them because the sauce was so good. I'll definitely be trying this place again, giving them the chance to redeem themselves with the cold rice they served.

I was here for lunch so it was not too busy. Service was very nice and helpful. It has a regular restaurant atmosphere and is designed for boils with the paper table cloths ready to make a mess. The food was very good great spice on it. You can order your type of spice and heat level. Very nice place to eat.

Another amazing dinner!! Came last weekend with my fiancé and back again tonight with my dad and sister. We ordered the same appetizers.. takoyaki, fried oysters, and waffle fries with yum yum sauce. These are the must get items - sounds basic but it's so good. This time for entrees, we got 3 lbs of head on shrimps, 1 lb of the king crab legs, and half dozen blue crabs all in garlic butter sauce. Everything was great!! Garlic butter is the way to go~

Crack Crab is a small seafood restaurant / takeout spot. Not much ambiance. I dined in to try some of their fried seafood. My meal started off with spring rolls. They were a good start. But before I even finished them I got my jumbo shrimp platter. The shrimp are just a regular size, definitely NOT jumbo. I must have gotten a mix of 2 different batches. Half were perfectly cooked shrimp and the other half overcooked. It was odd because the fried coating seemed the same on all of them. The platter came with very good waffle fries. I also had a chance to taste my date's fried fish. It was fried cod. It was good, but a little too much breading. The meal ended with a slice of Oreo cheesecake. It was served cold, a big no no in my book. I had to wait for it to at least get close to room temperature. It was OK, but something was off with the consistency. Most people dining in were getting boiled seafood, so maybe that's their specialty. I think crack crab is more suited for takeout, but only if you are close by. I wouldn't travel for it.

I'm really happy that more seafood restaurants are opening up in the NE Philly area. Crack Crab is very similar to the Shake Seafood on cottman avenue. Except Crack Crab got more food and drink options. I love that they also offer Hibachi grill options on the menu. Choices include Hibachi chicken/beef/shrimp/scallops etc... Don't forget the fried rice and the lomein. Drinks are Thai Tea, Cooling Peach, Cooling Pineapple, and Cooling Strawberry. We got the Hibachi Shrimp and Scallops, Vegetables fried rice, 1 IB of clams in garlic butter, 1 IB of snow crab in crack crab sauce, 1 Cooling Strawberry, 1 Cooling Peach, and 5 Cooling Pineapple. We loved all of the drinks, as you can see especially the Cooling Pineapple, we got 5 total lol. Everything tastes really good. Their sauces containers are bigger, that's definitely a plus.

My actual rating would be more like 3 1/2 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow partial stars yet. SO, hankering for some seafood, my colleague and I stopped by here for lunch last week. We are frequent guests of the prestigious Five Guys burgers across the street (we like to fine dine, as you can tell), and saw Crack Crab one day on our way out. Walking in, it was very nice inside. A little kitschy, what with the sea theme, and nets and anchors and what not, but still what the girls would call, "cute." The plates are VERY nautical themed. We were the only patrons for a while, but it got decently busy while we were there. We sat down and started perusing the menu (bonus points for the free appetizer for checking in on Yelp). We went with the crab rangoons for the app (I thought they were great, my colleague, not so much....) and each got a crab boil for the main. Here's where the first issue came into play. EXPENSIVE. Its funny to remember that crabs and lobster used to be peasant food. They used to throw lobster back into the ocean when it was caught in their fishing nets, because only the poorest of the poor would eat sea bugs. NOW, that shit is like gold or pure saffron. My dining mate wanted King Crab legs, and I wanted some shrimp, but neither of us could find a suitable combo that had everything we wanted, so we decided to split the difference; he got the King Crab boil, and I got the shrimp. (a pound of each.) His bag came out with a single cluster. A POUND of King Crab legs is a single cluster?! And that is 37 dollars?! I had ample shrimp, but even then, it felt like a lot less than a "pound of shrimp." I've eaten at other crab boil joints, and I remember having to give away shrimp to people at my table, and then STILL having shrimp left over after I was full. It was enough to fill me up, but the weight system is off here, is what I'm saying. Knock number 2 came when the crab legs were obviously over steamed. The legs didn't crack. They were bendy and pliable, and you had to literally TEAR them to get them open. A crab leg should have a good snap to it, not feel like wet cardboard. That said, the seasonings were good, and the potatoes and corn that came with were decent. (corn was a BIT overdone, but I've come to expect that, and it was actually less than it usually is at other places.) And, they DO deck you out with bibs and gloves and what not too, so it wasn't as messy as I had anticipated. Id certainly recommend this place for a small group, wanting some seafood. The area is busy, there is ample parking, and the food is pretty good, all things considered. All this said, we probably won't be back. That area is almost exclusively for work lunch runs (I live in Jersey) and my lunch buddy actually preferred the crabs at Chucks Alibi to Crack Crab. And with the amount we spent, I don't think I'll be able to convince him to take another trip with me.

I put it on the fresh pita and it was an excellent starter. We ordered the Caesar Salad - it was very good - fresh, green leafy lettuce - crispy croutons, a sprinkling of grated cheese, and a delicious dressing. Next up, the Crab Bisque. I lived in Maryland for 30 years and had crab bisque many, many times. This was the first crab bisque that wasn't tomato based - it was a brownish, creamy version. It was more like chowder - although when I looked up 'bisque', it most certainly can be creamy. I might have been fine with the 'creamy version', but it lacked any crab flavor and had no crab in it - not one shred. I've never had any fish soup that had no fish in it. I took a few spoonfuls and left it. My partner tried it and came to the same conclusion. The entrees came next - I got the Seared Branzino and my partner got the Shrimp and Scallops. The Seared Branzino was okay - there were bites where I had a very fishy taste - and it was a very small piece of fish. My partner's Shrimp and Scallops came with steamed garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. The Scallops were tender and cooked perfectly - they were in a delicious sauce and had a very nice sear. However, the Shrimp were tough and chewy - we were both very surprised to have one item (scallops) so good, and another (shrimp) on the same plate, that was so bad. The steamed garlic spinach and mashed potatoes were very good. While our Caesar salad, Scallops and side dishes were very good, the rest of the meal was lacking.
